THERE IS NO BETTER WAY TO STAY IN BERLIN
Luxury apartments in the best prime location of Berlin at Potsdamer Platz (Sony Center) located in one of the most impressive buildings from the world did what completed in 2000 and designed by the famous architect Helmut Jahn.
Transport links are excellent. The metro station and train station 'Potsdamer Platz' is just steps away from the apartment. Various bus lines and sightseeing are therefore just steps away from the apartment. When you leave the building you are staying at the heart of Berlin. All downtown attractions are in short walking distance (Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, Philharmonie, Museum Iceland, Friedrichstrasse, National Gallery ....) It offers generous than in many suites of the relevant 5 star hotels (Ritz Carlton, Grand Hyatt) at unbeatable prices. Round off your visit to Berlin with a memorable stay in my apartment. Enjoy!
I was immediately captivated by the view from this apartment, which looks down into the forum of the Sony Center, made even more impressive by the floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall. Helmut Jahn’s impressive canopy roof is only two stories above so one gets a very different view of the Sony Center than you would from walking through.
The apartment itself is a modern and fully equipped studio (in the British sense). The kitchen has everything you could ever need and an REWE supermarket is only a few minutes walk away in the Arkaden shopping mall. The bed is incredibly comfortable and there is a more than comfortable armchair for reading or just lounging whilst watching people milling around in the Forum. Next door there is a dinning room that can also be used for working or… dinning! The room is open into the rest of the apartment but can be closed off from the sleeping area which is useful.
There is a large bathroom with a very large bathtub by European standards and shower overhead. There is also a washing machine, and everything else you might need, iron, hairdryer, etc.
Potsdamer Platz is fairly central; the Tiergarten is a road away, and the Brandenburger Tor is about 5 minutes up the road. I’m used to walking around Berlin so everything seemed very close and the city is incredibly flat, so no inclined streets!
At night the apartment is even more spectacular as the Sony Center roof is illuminated with purple and blue lighting. This didn’t bother me, but might bother others. The blinds are perforated so the light still comes through, albeit more muted. The lights do go off at 00:45.
There is fast WLAN/wifi in the apartment and a large television with a wide selection of channels in both German and English. Unlike a hotel, this is really a home-away-from-home where you can just walk in and everything is already there and waiting.
The check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. I met Michael who gave me the keys and a little bit of history about the Center, plus a tour of the apartment. On check-out, one simply leaves the keys and leaves.
All-in-all, I recommend this property without reservation, you won’t find anything anywhere in the same league for the same price.
Excellent Apartment in a Perfect Location. My son and I stayed here on our first trip to Berln. Modern apartment with a great view of the Sony center lights at night, Easy to meet the manager and pick up the key, Very clean and well maintained. Close to all the main attractions in Berlin, Nice mall across the street., Be sure to visit the last remaining Berlin Wall watchtower close by. Good wireless internet connection.
I stayed four nights at the end of June and early July 2013. The description and photos provided by the owner is accurate. It's a lovely apartment in a great, safe location. The price I paid was a fair value.
The view overlooking the plaza of Sony Center is nice and I didn't find it noisy, even with the windows open. Sony Center has several restaurants, a theater with movies in English and a Starbucks. It's close to transit, but I didn't use it, as the apartment is very walkable to many sights.
The apartment is nice sized for 1-2 people. The main room is dominated by the bed within it. It has a nice, large TV, though in the four nights I stayed there, I had to shuffle through the remote to adjust the settings to get the picture to come on three times. There is no seating area per se.
There's a separate eating area I didn't use as I ate out. The kitchen is small, and I only used the fridge to keep water cool.
The bathroom is fine, though it has one of those odd European showers where the glass only extends half way along the tub, meaning you have to be careful not to get water all over the bathroom floor. I didn't attempt the laundry as there were no instructions in English. I also didn't see any laundry soap. Free wifi worked great and was appreciated.
Communication with the owner was good. I arrived late in the evening and had to pay a fee for this. When I met with the individual to get the key, he said he lost it on the cab ride over. Luckily, he was able to run down to the main floor to get a replacement.
All in all, I'd definitely stay here again or recommend this apartment to friends, no question.
I was also impressed with the city of Berlin. It's modern, safe and clean. And didn't fully appreciate the quality and breadth of the museums they have and the sights to see.
I highly recommend this terrific apartment in the center of Berlin. Instant access to Potsdamer Platz U and S Bahn stations and several bus lines right outside your door. Easy walking distance to most main attractions: Brandenberg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, Gemaldegalerie. (Tip for the strong walkers - it only took us about 20 minutes to walk all the way to Museum Island). Excellent price, too; hotels across the street will give you less space for twice the price. A bonus feature - with so many hotels all around, it was very easy to get a taxi at all hours.
The pictures are accurate in terms of updated fixtures and modern furnishings. What can be a little tricky to tell - the apartment is a junior one-bedroom but the bed is set up in the living room and the table and chairs in the bedroom. It works out better because you get a king-sized bed and more space in the room you spend most of your time in. And we really enjoyed the extra room with the table and chairs. Two jet-lagged people don't necessarily have the same sleep schedule so it was nice to be able to sit and read (or take advantage of the free wifi).
The apartment is at the Sony Center and you do overlook that main plaza but you're high enough up that once you shut the windows it's quiet. I wasn't bothered at all, and I'm a very light sleeper.
Overall, a great place that I would stay at again. The only thing I could have asked for was a washcloth but that's an American vs European sensibility.
This small and compact studio is so centrally located, you would want to stay here purely for its accessibility. Being on Potsdamer Platz, you can go anywhere and will be spoilt for choice in terms of transport. Some major attractions such as Brandenburg Gates and the holocaust memorial is just a few minutes away by foot. Legoland, for those with kids, is just downstairs.
Other than its location, this studio offers a very interesting view out the windows. But the buzz of activity of this place is not for the light-sleepers though.
The apartment is fairly equipped, but it's a little dusty.. It is also quite small, but manageable.
Prior to our arrival, dealing with the owner was okay, but when we were there, his assistant Daniel was very helpful with our queries etc.
It is located in the Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz and may all major sights within a few minutes walking distance.
Enjoy shopping trips in the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden or nearby boutiques of Friedrichstrasse, try one of the many excellent restaurants, or make your luck at the casino in Berlin to the test. Maybe you crown your stay with a visit to the only steps away Philharmonic, or the National Gallery.
Berlin's modern movie theater and the theater Stella - the venue for the Berlin Film Festival - located right in the ensemble Potsdamer Platz. In a few minutes you can walk to the Brandenburg Gate on Pariser Platz and the street Unter den Linden, which takes you to the museum island effortlessly for a little walk. The directly adjacent to the ensemble Berlin Tiergarten is ideal for jogging and walking one.
Nearest U-Bahn station. - And S-Bahn station. 'Potsdamer Platz' 100m, all sightseeing lines
