An unforgettable holiday

stoney7 Austin, TX,, USA
Review Submitted: April 27, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
Our stay in this lovely Tulfarris house was a holiday we will cherish for years to come. The location was perfect, meeting our desire to be in the country, yet near enough Dublin and surrounding tourist sites. Blessington is a cute, friendly town which has a few restaurants, a nice grocery store and even a local spa where we went got pampered for the afternoon. One of our favorite day's was spent hiking at Glendalough, what a breathtakingly, spectacular place it is indeed! Needless to say, we would highly recommend this house as the perfect Irish getaway. And in fact, we have a few friend's who have also stayed at this house. The house is on a golf course, which we were not interested in using, but would be great for the avid golfer and serves as a lovely place to walk around for those who are not. The owner was extremely accommodating, easy to work with and wonderfully friendly. She has created a truly inviting home, one that is comfortable, practical and helps to put one at ease with the soothing colors, natural light and decor.

Charming lake house with incredible view

Review Submitted: April 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
This place was a special getaway!
Very nice, peaceful and well equipped cottage!

The kitchen is very well stocked with pots and pans, utensils, dishes, etc. There is a microwave, a bar-sized fridge with freezer, toaster, oven, kettle, washing machine, etc.

There is a very convenient fireplace in the beautifully decorated living room, a wonderful place to gather family & friends and play the board games available. There is nothing like the smell of a peat fire to make you feel cozy in Ireland.

Both bedrooms were very comfortable and all linens and furniture were in excellent condition. The house was sparkling clean!

There is a lovely garden/sitting area outside.

The landlord was very easy to deal with and very responsive!

Still the biggest draw to the house is its surroundings. We enjoyed long peaceful walks around the huge Blessington Lake behind the house. Despite the country feeling it is only half hour drive to Dublin, which is fun to visit and experience. There were a few small towns close by that had lovely pubs with live singing of traditional music.
The Ireland you hear has been lost to the recent economic boom still exists!

Country Tranquillity a Short Hop from Dublin

smg2ct USA
Review Submitted: May 16, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
I stayed off-season for 2 months, Feb-Mar 20008. Owner was incredibly accommodating to the inevitable complications of a very last minute stay and was very flexible to suit my needs, which was wonderful.

The cottage is darling--restful colors like sage greens and rosy pinks, the comfortable bedrooms, each with its own full bath, the soft down comforters, books to read and a terrific large bright white well-equipped kitchen with all the amenities and more conveniences than often accompany such vacation places, all combined to make my stay exceptionally comfortable. Winter didn't allow me to make use of the rear patio and its table and chairs but daily use of the LR fireplace was a good trade!

The location definitely requires a car as it's out in the country fields of Co. Wicklow, where you're surrounded by the peripheral golf course and lovely Blessington Lakes, and beyond the ubiquitous green fields grazed by sheep and cattle. Great for long country walks and a good base for day trips throughout Wicklow (Powerscourt, Glendalough, Wicklow and Sally Gaps) as well as being centrally located in the country for trips further afield. The 10-minute drive into Blessington affords a regular 30-minute bus ride into Dublin City if you don't wish to drive (and you shouldn't, considering the city traffic!)

I did not explore many of the local or surrounding restaurants so I can't make any recommendations in that vein.

I was sorry my idyllic time came to an end and I would not hesitate to return by any means!
