Summer Delight

Villa Margarita provided the all but perfect setting for a summer holiday shared with family and then friends. The location and views from the expanse of sliding glass doors and windows are spectacular. The garden and pool area are a delight and perfect for the enjoyment of a summer evening's rose and fresh salade nicoise. The entire villa is beautifully appointed with every modern convenience and to the delight of my wife a large, light and fully equipped kitchen than allows easy communication with the living areas and also, needless to say, magnificent views over the Marina of Beaulieu and Cap Ferrat.
The bedrooms are large and comfortable with excellent bathrooms. It is a bit of a stretch to refer to the fourth bedroom as such, however, it being situated in the lowest level and being dark and rather inacessible except for the young.
As advertised the town of Beaulieu is a short walk away and ideal for a morning stroll, coffee and croissant and fresh market produce. The visitors and locals are classy but friendly with none of the over touristic ambience of Nice or Cannes, much less St. Tropez, though all these must see towns are an easy drive as also is Monte Carlo and the Italian border to the East. There is more to see and do than can fill an entire summer but a car is essential and NOT TOO large a people wagon, as I discovered. Finding the Villa is a challenge regardless of how many maps your are armed with. Accept the invitation of your charming hosts, Jean-Pierre and Suzy, who both speak exquisite English, and allow them to meet you at the railway station to guide you to your new home.
I never mastered the Corniches but they provide extraordinary views over the Coast and access to the autoroute which whizzes you along if that is your wish. The minor roads to the numerous hill top Provencal villages are easily followed. We divided our time between lazy days in Beaulieu and magnificent Cap Ferrat and day trips inland to the countless towns and villages of interest invariably offering markets and timeless Provence charm and history not to mention gastronomy.
Finally, I mujst return to Jean-Pierre and Suzy who are one's neighbours in the adjacent villa. Thay are hospitable in the extreme, helpful and kind and full of information and tips to ensure that every detail of a sublime holiday is catered for.
Judith, my wife, and I recommend Villa Margarita unreservedly, especially for the middle aged and unrushed set.
