Places to visit:
Begur is certainly the most exclusive part of the Costa Brava whilst remaining discrete rather than brash. There are no big chain hotels in the area and just small hotels in the town. Nearby guests will find miles of rolling hills and coastal walks to explore, small bays to relax in, old Roman villages, some of the best golf courses in Europe, clean beaches and outstanding Catalan restaurants set inside ancient Masias (farmhouses). Beach lovers are spoilt by the Sa Tuna beach just 1.5km from the house or away of those of Tamariu, Aiguablava Lla Franc or Sa Riera all nearby. For more cultural day trips destinations could include Figueres for the Salvador Dali Museum, Girona or of course Barcelona itself.
The are is also ideal for water sports like diving, kayak, rent a sailor boat for the day...

Gastronomy and Night-life
The local region is renowned for its excellent restaurants and wines. Begur is also a popular nightspot with a number of bars, and nightclubs.
The area benefits from a unique soil type and consequent grape varieties. Catalonia produces world class wines ranging from clean crisp white wines and Cava from the D.O. Penedès region and the powerful fragrant red wines from the D.O. Priorat, Tarragona
Scuba diving:
This corner of Spain has developed a great reputation for SCUBA diving – focussed around but not limited to the Medes Islands – a protected Marine Reserve since 1983 with spectacular caverns; red, yellow and purple sea fans as well as a thriving fish population including groupers, huge shoals of sardines & anchovies which attract pelagic predators such as jack, bass, bonito barracuda and a variety of bream.
Ski:
The nearest stations are Núria and VallTer 2000, both 1.5hour from the house.
Masella and Molina are 2hours from the house
Andorra 4 hours from the house.
Golf:
In the last decade the Costa Brava has become host to nine excellent golf courses, four of which are now amongst the best in Europe.
