Our apartment in Cuxhaven is located in a quiet, idyllic location in the resort part Stickenbüttel. The beach in Cuxhaven in 2000m distance away on a pleasant side trails on foot in 20 minutes or 5 minutes by bike: Karl-Waller Way, then left into the Sahlweg, then straight on the dirt road to Cuxhaven.
You can choose between three nature reserves: you will cycle along the dikes at the Wadden Sea, explore the largest European territory of the coastal heaths and delight in wild horses, bison and bison or in hot summer weather, the shaded bike paths of Werner forest by the sea. A beautiful Nordic walking trail starts right at the house: go 3 km over the Butendieksweg the sea, then along the North Sea 4 km, then 3 km over Cuxhaven back to Stickenbüttel the house. After the first 7 km we like to take a break in the 'beacon', a trendy bistro right on the dike in Cuxhaven with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the sea and excellent cake.
Within walking distance from the house is the horse farm 'Tote Hosen'. Here beginners and experts can book rides.
The surf school is located in Sahlenburg. Here you can book windsurfing or kitesurfing classes. From the spring of 2014 there is also a climbing park. The little ones will love the beautifully landscaped playground in the park, next to a mini-zoo with penguins, see seals and interesting birds, everything is free. A great experience even in wet weather, the sea-water wave Ahoy seafront location in Cuxhaven. The bathroom is completely an aesthetic delight and easy to reach. You drive your car in the underground garage to the bathroom belonging and park there easily and free.
When we are in Cuxhaven, then we buy our bread in the morning in the Cafe 'Itjen in Sahlenburg, 500m from the house. A visit to the lighthouse in Cuxhaven for cakes food is also a must as fish food in one of the restaurants of the 'fish alley "in port (Niedersachsenstraße, Steubenhöft). We prefer to eat in the fish box (good & cheap) or in the restaurant'' sea fruit '(refined & more expensive). After or before the meal is worth a visit to the architecturally interesting museum 'wind force 10' right next door. A proper pedestrian area for strolling and shopping, there is also a cozy Nordersteinstraße. After shopping you can stroll through the park of the castle still Ritzebüttel exactly opposite the pedestrian zone and the large free car park.
If she ever want to leave the nature around the house for a longer excursion, then this worthwhile goals are: The 'Havenwelten' in Bremerhaven with 'Emigration Center' (award-winning, quite mad) or the 'Zoo am Meer' (priced and much nicer as Hagenbeck), a day trip on the only German island of Heligoland, or a half-day excursion to the shopping paradise of the Bremen City, where historic center and shopping streets are right next to each other and there is ample parking.
