Grenell is a Beautiful Island (accessible by boat only) right next to T.I. Park. Going by boat from the Island it is easy to access Alexandria Bay (Clayton) and it is only a five minute boat ride over St. Lawrence River to Canada. The Island has a three-sided and protected sandy bottom cove for safe swimming and easy boat docking.
There are approximately 60 private cottages on the Island, mainly populated in summer. Grenell Island also has it own church and a community house, which are for everyone’s use. You can enjoy walking or jogging there are plenty of sidewalks to get around the Island. Nothing can beat the views of tour boats going by, swimming in clear waters of St. Lawrence River and sighting picturesque landscapes accessible by boat only.
Directions: Going by car take 81 North to exit 50 towards Clayton about one mile (on Rt 12) at flashing light (Rt 180) turn right. Go 200 yards you will see “Bill and Jacks” store where you can park your car and trailer (stop inside for information on parking). You can launch your boat free at the public launch right there and start your fun!!
You need to have or rent a boat in order to access the cottage on this cozy island.
If you are interested in renting a boat you can contact Aquamania, Chalks Marina or Hutchinson Marina. There are many restaurants and stores on the water that have a Free Taxi service to their front door or even accessible by your boat.
