Further details for this vacation apartment rental in Naples, Italy

The apartment is charming. Close to restaurants, cafes and historic places. Wonderful view on the Vesuvio Volcan, on the Cathedral, on San Martino hill, on the S.Gregorio Armeno Street-one of most famous road of ancient Naples. The beds are comfortable. The flat is furnished with taste. The palace is without lift. INTERNET WIRELESS FOR THE GUESTS.

San Gregorio Armeno, with its shops, with its stalls, is the place of the Neapolitan Christmas, the obligatory destination of a sentimental walk to the search of a new piece to put on the crib. San Gregorio Armeno is the crossroad of the Christmas wonder. Also many young people have discovered the ancient art. The techniques are those of old times, but the systems of propaganda are changed. The crib continues to be an infallible judge of the affection of the Neapolitans. In the last years have appeared in the showcases and on the stalls the figurines of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Lady Diana, even of the stylist Versace; nothing scandalous, because the crib tollerates everything. The famous street S. Gregorio Armeno takes its name from the homonym monasterial complex. Here it is the centre of production and sale of the shepherds.

Other Activities: cultural, romantic and historical holiday.

Great apartment, very central location

Joey.G London
Review Submitted: November 15, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We stayed here in mid-September for 3 nights - a good time of year to go, warm enough some evenings to eat outside. The apartment was lovely - very tastefully decorated and well equipped, with everything we needed for our stay, and the owner Emanuela was very friendly and welcoming.
After reading some other reviews, I was slightly concerned that the living area might be a bit small, but there was plenty of room for the four of us to eat and relax, and having the little outside balcony upstairs was great for sipping a gin & tonic in the evening!
The apartment is in a great location, very central, in the middle of the Centro Historico. Once you get used to the constant scooters squeezing past you on the tiny streets, it's very easy to walk from the apartment to visit the sights. It's also very convenient for local restaurants and food shops - I Decumani, on Via dei Tribunali, is a great (and cheap!) pizza place - turn right out of the apartment block, walk to the end of the street, turn left and it's just across the road. There is also a pasticceria selling delicious cakes, along the same street.
An unexpected highlight was a tour of the maze of underground tunnels - sign up for the tour at Napoli Sotteranea, just off Via dei Tribunali, between I Decumani and Limone.
If you're looking for a comfortable, affordable apartment in the centre of Naples, I would definitely recommend this one!

Super séjour dans le coeur historique de Naples

hélène.r.p. provence, france
Review Submitted: August 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009

modern apartment in centre of Napoli

keesl Rotterdam, Nederland
Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The apartment is exactly as described; the airco part pertains only to the upper floor (where with a little bit effort, as climbing on a chair, a lot of Naples and surroundings can be seen). The nuns in the convent opposite the street, which means 6 metres away, sing you awake at six o´clock in the morning, which leaves ample time for discovering Napoli and surroundings. Churches everywere; I didn´t count them but there must be some 200 or more. Climbing the stairs was an effort for me and my wife, not for our son or his girlfriend, but we are over 60 and were forewarned. The apartment was impeccably clean, the bedrooms are spacious; kitchen and livingrooms are small. Emanuela Grimacci is a gem; very friendly and helpful.
Places to go: walking to the Duomo, San Domenico maggiore, Gesu nuovo, Santa Chiara. A bit further away, at the end of the via Toledo, the Piazza del Plebiscito, the Galleria Umberto I, San Francesco di Paola. Don´t forget the churches in the direct neighbourhood: San Lorenzo, San Paolo, and directly opposite the San Gregorio Armeni (the last to my taste far overdone, actually)
Take from Stazione Cumara (easy to find from Piazza Dante) the funicolare to Montesanto, and visit first the museum (go right from the station); after that the acces to Castel St Elmo is free.
After visiting Pompei (and Ercolano, and the Vesuvius) go to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale: everything you thought to find there is in the museum!
We made a day´s trip to Capri; big tourist trap, but beautyful. Go with the funicolare to the centre of Capri city and walk down the other side: you are in fifteen minutes to the other side of the island, and there is nobody.. If you want to visit the blue grotto: look out, some boats say they are going there but only pass by!Take the last boat back: Napoli from sea at night is a sight you must have seen once.
Bus lines are very unreliable; reaching Capodimonte we found almost impossible.
Taxi to the airport from the apartment cost us 15 euro.
Very recommended apartment and visit, but you must be in an fair condition!

Apartment in San Gregorio Armeno, Naples

Alison Claire Norfolk, England
Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This apartment is in a perfect location in the ancient part of Naples and also within walking distance of the main bus and train stations. The accommodation is well presented, very comfortable and full of character. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and needed 3 bedrooms and this property gave us 3 spacious bedrooms and a room that we used as an upstairs sitting room with a small roof terrace. The kitchen and dining area was useful, although the restaurants nearby were good and reasonably priced inspite of the exchange rates. The two rooms upstairs had very effective air-con and one bedroom downstairs had an effective fan. Naples was very hot so it was good to be able to come home and cool down. The apartment is on the fourth floor and the stairs are challenging after a busy day. We just imagined all the calories from the pizza, pasta and ice-cream that we were using up!
Emanuela was very kind and helpful and gave us useful tips about places to eat etc. Her help and interest in our plans really enhanced the holiday.
We felt very safe and secure in the apartment and the streets around the old city, both during the day and in the evening. The main hazard in Naples was the traffic. Don't expect the traffic to stop when you step out onto a zebra crossing! Our top tip here is to cross with a local and look confident! Having said that, we enjoyed the kindness of strangers many times during our week, including the bus driver who charged no extra, made an unsheduled stop and gave us directions after we failed to get off at the right place.
Every where we walked we found places to visit. We used public transport to get to Pompei, Herculaneum and to access Vesuvius. There are huge numbers of places to visit within a 5 to 30 minute walk of the apartment. The church oppostite and adjoining cloisters, for example are a gem as are the museum and underground streets at the top of the road. You will need to take a good guide book with you because there really is an over-abundance of sightseeing to do. Our teenagers are both under 18 and many places we visited had free or half price entry for them, as long as we showed their passports as proof of age.
We would gladly recommend the apartment to friends and also return ourselves to explore all the places we didn't have time to see on this visit.

Talons aiguilles, s'abstenir ...
