Overview

Sausalito Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This romantic cottage located on historic 'Ark Row', has a quiet, peaceful setting with a lovely view across the bay. The cottage itself is located in town on its own private dock over the water. It is not 'near' the water, nor does it simply have a 'view of' the water. Drop a pebble a the dock and is splashes into the water. Read or write, dine or observe a parade of maritime life: sailboats, diving Pelicans, and curious seals. Though ten minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge and 15 minutes to downtown San Francisco, you will be in your own secluded world.

Throughout Marin County there are fabulous biking and hiking trails with kayak and boat rentals available in Sausalito. The mini environment of maritime Sausaiito has long been recognized as the most temperate weather in the Bay Area - cool in summer and characteristically fog free most of the year.

Available for long or short term rental, historic waterfront ' ARK' (House on a dock.)

Discounts by the MONTH $185 / NIGHT

About Marion Slater

I have owned the cottage for more than 40 years, it was originally a boat house owned by a captain of a fishing boat. I had always admired the property for its location on the water, when it was offered for sale I was happy to buy it, have been glad I did.

Marion Slater purchased this cottage in 1969

Why Marion Slater chose Sausalito

Once you see the cottage you will see what a lot it has to offer in its location, close to everything people come to Sausalito for, the lovely view, access to San Francisco and the wine country.

What makes this cottage unique

For guests interested in kayaking or boating in general, there could not be a better place than the San Francisco Bay. Here in Sausalito every possible type of sailing, sailboarding, boating is available. Some of the best restaurants, coffee shops and cafes nearby.

Delightful!

  • 5 of 5

Cozy from the morning sun streaming in and off the water to the glow of the rich color palette throughout. A sweet little bungalow on the water. Walking distance to so many great eateries and shops along Sausalito's waterfront. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Take your breakfast on the private deck in the sun and really soak in warmth of this oasis!

Cozy Secluded

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the cottage and found it spotlessly clean. It was very private which appealed to us. The cottage was a great home base for our day trips to Napa Valley for wine tastings and to the Point Reyes area for cheese tastings and soaking up the beautiful coastal scenery. Though we didn't cook, the small kitchen was perfect for coffee and toasted muffins in the mornings. Also, the shower had great water pressure.

We enjoyed feeding the ducks and seagulls off the private deck and made friends with a particularly friendly seagull we called Seadric (not Cedric). We would definitely return

Oasis by the Bay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cottage by the Bay. It was a great home away from home and a great base for excursions to the natural wonders along the coast. Watching the morning light wash over Richardson Bay, and the evening light fade to dark just added to our experience. All just steps from all the great eateries in Sausalito.

Great Little Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Cottage by the Bay in Sausalito. It was the perfect location to stay at with walking access to everything great in Sausalito. I chose to stay here for a 5 day personal retreat and found it an ideal location. It was right on the water and I enjoyed getting up in the morning and watching all the birds and sea life right outside my door. The patio area is perfect for an evening glass of wine and relaxing. There is a bar a few doors down and while the bar didn't bother me (it can get a little noisy), it might bother some. I found when the cottage was completely closed up you couldn't hear the bar noise at all. I enjoyed keeping the windows and doors open until late at night for the beautiful ocean breeze and just turned on some music I enjoyed and was able to relax and enjoy the cottage.

The owner was just lovely and also very accommodating. I highly recommend this great little spot for anyone wanting to stay locally in Sausalito.

A Perfect Get Away !

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great! The accommodations, location and owner were fantastic ! Close to the Sausalito shops and restaurants but far enough away to be quiet and restful. Able to fish right off the dock too. Cozy, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The owner was always available to help and answer questions but ensured our privacy as well. Great view of the harbor. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.

The Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

What an adorable place! This houseboat cottage was just perfect for my July 4th getaway. Everything is exactly as advertised in the HomeAway posting, and it exceeded my expectations. I'm very sensitive to noise, and I barely heard the noise from the Bocce Bar two houses down. I hated to leave this cottage! The location is perfect -- not in the middle of the crowded, noisy tourist area, but close enough to walk there and everywhere else in Sausalito. Marion was extremely helpful and attentive, and I can't wait to stay there again. Thanks again, Marion!
