Overview

Twin Bridges Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Lodge, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12-14)

LARGE, Family Cabin right ON THE RIVER, by Sierra At Tahoe or snowmobile right out the front door. You can walk to the ski slopes if you are an experienced skier. Our lodge is tucked away, not far off Highway 50 with only 5 other privately owned cabins on our cul-da-sac road. Our road and driveway are plowed in the winter. There are endless hiking areas, sleding right next to the cabin and loads of wintertime fun!!!

We are also right on the South Fork of the American RIVER with 170 ft. of river frontage. During the summer, it is incredible to sit by the water and relax in a hammock or relaxing lounge chair.

As far as furnishings, the downstairs is all wood and decorated with a 'fishing' room (king bed) and 'ski' room (double bed). Upstairs is freshly painted and decorated with a 'moose (queen bed), deer (king bed-master), and bear (2 twins and 2 doubles)' room for the kids. We have replaced the living room furniture (summer 09 and 14) and the master bedroom furniture and queen furniture upstairs)

We have a great kitchen with full appliances and a huge dining room table. Great for a family gathering for eating or hanging out by the fireplace in our large living room and watch the snow fall.

The cabin is great in any season and Lake Tahoe is only about ten minutes down the hill. We are five miles from Strawberry Lodge. The cabin is away from the crowded downtown area, but close enough to be there in minutes. Our location is awesome for Sierra At Tahoe, 1.5 miles from the entrance.

We are in a heavy snow area during the winter, so you may need four-wheel drive and or chains. Cabin will need to be left clean as found, minimal cleaning available. You can bring your own sheets, if you want, so you don't have to do the linens before you leave.

About Barbi Boyle

My husband and I own and operate Boyle Ranch, a Reining Horse show horse barn in Ione, Ca. Barbi is also a Real Estate Agent in Sutter Creek, Ca. We have two children and we all show horses competitively thru out the US.

Barbi Boyle purchased this lodge in 2004

Why Barbi Boyle chose Twin Bridges

We purchased our vacation rental in this area because we wanted to have a place to go that was great in the winter, was close to a Ski Resort (Sierra at Tahoe) and also a fabulous place in the summer (170 foot of South Fork of the American River). We spent a year trying to get the owner to sell to us and finally was able to complete the purchase. We also wanted to be away from the Casino's and have some privacy, but close enough (15 mins) to be able to go there if we wanted to. We truely found Location Location Location.

What makes this lodge unique

Our cabin is large, peaceful and a wonderful place if you like snow or you want to be in the forest in the summer/spring. It is close to Highway 50, for convienence, but also very, very, private. Great hiking, Horsetail Falls and Echo Lakes are very close and a must see. You can hike to Camp Sacramento for dinner in the summer or sit out by the river at night and listen to the water go by. We especially like sitting in a hammock and reading a book.

Roomy house ... good for 2 families

  • 5 of 5
The size and layout of the house was perfect for our group: 2 families with 2 kids each + 1 grandparent (and 1 dog). Despite reading somewhere that there would be instructions in the cabin, there were none. So, it was challenging for us to figure out where the wood was (in the cellar), how to access the cellar, how to find the light (I never could), etc. (We used both the trap door in the bedroom as well as the door under the house, although you have to root through lots of keys to find the right one.) There were no instructions on how to use the fireplace, which would normally be simple, but this fireplace had an in/out lever for the flue (which way was it open? closed?), other levers that controlled something else and an electrical cord for the fan. (My friend was able to call Barbi and get some guidance.) The prior guests had left no wood and since we couldn't find the wood on the first night, we went and bought some.
The volume knob on the receiver is missing but luckily my (sound engineer) husband devised a way to control the volume (and also correctly connect the surround sound speakers). The tv is large and the kids enjoyed watching movies, although the guys definitely were bummed about no cable tv and not being able to watch the big football games that were on.
The tv in the upstairs bedroom doesn't really work. After finally figuring out where to insert the DVD, we could never get it to actually accept a DVD (we tried 3) so don't get your hopes up about watching a movie in bed. (You'll be too tired anyway!)
The kitchen is fairly well-stocked although none of the lids seem to match any of the pots, but we made do. Heck, it's a cabin in the woods at a decent price!
The cabin certainly met our needs and was a nice place to be able to hang out with friends and feel that the kids were fairly safe running around outside on their own (those who didn't get too close to the river).
Note: given the warm weather this winter, be forewarned that the driveway gets VERY muddy (and then may freeze during the night).

We Enjoyed Every Moment of our Stay, Surrounded by Beauty!!

  • 5 of 5
We LOVE the Boyle's River Cabin and had an awesome stay there with our friends and two small children. It was perfect. Our kids played in the river all day as we relaxed in the hammocks among the Tall Trees! It was perfect and everything we needed was provided! We BBQ'd every night on the grill on the back deck, overlooking the gorgeous scenery and wonderful smells of the mountains. We didn't want to leave and are already planning a trip back in the winter months so that we may enjoy the cabin in the snow!!!

MUY BONITA

I have stayed in this lovely cabin with my family and we really enjoyed it. It has anything you need to have a great time. It is very well equipped, with the perfect balance between modern amenities and a charming rustic getaway. location is perfect, for anyone who wants to ski . The forested views from the bedrooms are totally magical day and night. We strongly recommend this place. Thank you Barbi .

Love for the Boyle Lodge

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed at The Boyle Lodge many many times. Why do we go back? Because it feels like home. We go both winter and summer. People who only go for the skiing in the winter are missing out on all that is offered so close to this location during the summer months. Some days the kids never leave the backyard because of the steam. Some days the parents never leave the backyard because of the hammocks. The owners have always been wonderfull to work with.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at the Boyle Ranch. The cabin is huge. 15 of us fit quite
comfortably; each family had their own room. Plenty of snow for the little kids; big kids went up to Sierra Ski around the corner. We brought a Wii and played games in front of the wood burner in the living room.
The small store at Strawberry had the provisions we forgot. We're looking forward to a summer visit.
Great place to stay! Thanks.

Great place for a big group!

  • 4 of 5
I came up with my husband, my brother and his wife, and several friends. Everyone was comfortable in their own rooms. We got to have some fun with the first snow of the season while we were there. Comfy and affordable. It was a great time.
