Snowshoe Mountain Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

**SKI RENTAL DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST**

Sits directly between the two Snowshoe entrances Directly across from The Raven Golf Course! 2 Loft areas are located in the A frame vaulted ceiling(chateau style). There are two SLEEPING AREAS and a couch. There are 2 BEDS with one in each of the lofts(separate bedding areas separated by a wall), and a couch with blankets on the first floor. Note:The Loft areas are separated by a wall for privacy. The current bedroom pic does not reflect this. Downstairs is one large great room with a kitchen, dining room table, living room and a separate bath. There are two skylights. The walls are made out of six inch logs as seen in pictures, and the ceiling is knotty pine. Stairs are actual cedar beams and logs. Electric fireplace in living room.

Unit is well maintained and clean. Very rustic and cozy(downright nice)!! There is a full kitchen with pans and such for your use. It is well stocked but you may need to bring specialty or particular items. Floors are Slate, Hickory,Cedar and Carpet. The hot tub is next door. Parking is in front of the unit. No more long hikes from the parking lot!

There is a 36' TV w/ Sat TV downstairs and a 23' Flat Screen w/ Sat TV on 2nd floor. There is an I Pod ready stereo on each floor. Most of my renters are families and as a father I know the kids tend to hijack the TV so I split them up.

This is a fairly quiet location and is very close to the slopes. It is located in very wooded area. You can literally hike for days out of the front door. Cass, Big Springs, and other desirable locations are nearby. Affordable grocery, movie rental, and eateries are close to home. We detail local info to help you navigate a very spread out resort at an affordable price **LOCAL INFO AND ROAD REPORTS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST**

*Please note that the property has no legal address so the pin as shown is incorrect. I know this is odd, but it is a very rural area and we have no need for mail so we have never established an address. I will provide directions to my door from either entrance of Snowshoe.

About Billy

Frequent visitor to the Snowshoe area. I like watching my kids enjoy and learn to appreciate the mountain environment and outdoor experience. Even if it is just for a few days at a time, they never forget the time the spend there. Nothing makes you smile like seeing an 8 year old climb to the top of her first mountain.

Billy purchased this condo in 2005

Why Billy chose Snowshoe Mountain

It's location is close to all of Pocahontas Counties outdoor activities, especially the biking/hiking right out the front door. Please note that the property has no legal address so the pin is incorrect. I will provide directions to my door from either entrance of Snowshoe. I am able to park directly in front of my house. But most of all the resort is within sight but I have peace and quiet. Surrounded by nature. On top of that I can cook in my own kitchen and the community is excellent. Kids can play outside and the I can walk the dog for miles.

What makes this condo unique

Excellent hot tub facilities, parking right out front, a yard, cheap restaurants, a market outside of the resort, the creek, riding my bike to the Greenbrier river trail and turning south to get coffee in Marlinton, walking my pup, privacy, friendly neighbors, minutes to skiing, affordable ski shops, and a great deal more.

Great Deal

  • 5 of 5

Billy went above and beyond to accommodate a rental on very short notice from me. The place is convenient and easy to find and has a nice mountain home decor. Great cost alternative to staying in the resort especially considering that we spent so much time outside skiing. All of the info and tips provided about the Snowshoe area from Billy were great. Parked at Top of the World (free) and had an easy commute back down the mountain at the end of the day. Would rent again in a heartbeat.

family ski weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family of five stayed at Billy's place while skiing during a busy holiday weekend at Snowshoe and we loved it! It's off the mountain, so you have to drive or shuttle bus it to the slopes, but the off mountain location is peaceful and quiet and the cabin is snug and cozy. Sleeping is a bit "family style" with open air loft upstairs holding two double beds and a pull-out couch below - everyone has to go to bed at the same time or you hear everything. Would be touch with small kids becuase of the outside stairs and the loft stairs, but worked great for us with older kids. Special bonus of this place is that we got to bring our small dog with us, but check with Billy first to make sure it's ok. Everyone was super friendly, grocery store and pizza place not far from the cabin and if you're coming for the skiing, it was great! Id definitely recommend 4 wheel drive and/or chains on the tires if coming in winter weather, as roads to get to the slopes are steep and slow to be treated. Will certainly stay again in the future!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback! Important to note that there are 2 lofts as in plural and they are separated by walls and are about 8' apart separated by a stairwell. We never had a problem with sleeping while others carried on downstairs but I imagine it could occur for some people. While there are open balconies to the first floor, they are separated from one another. Our kids usually hang upstairs with the tv in the master while the adults play downstairs. On small kids, always have a pack and play at Snowshoe as stairs are unavoidable. As a dad I recommend taking extra precautions in any home you may rent, especially at Snowshoe where stairs and suddenly icy/snow covered walk ways are the norm. As for 4WD I would suggest at the minimum have cables for back up if you do not use snow tires. If you do keep cables/chains in your trunk, it is important you practice putting them on BEFORE driving into snow. You will do very little driving while there but you could have issues entering or exiting the area altogether. I personally can make it around in 2 wheel drive but others should not overestimate their abilities. With that said, I have arrived during a storm and been unable to get into the area. No matter which way you come, you will cross a mountain so plan ahead and stay safe. I live full time in an area that is shut down by flurries or low snowfall so it is clear that many visitors to the Snowshoe area from warmer locales do not comprehend the amount of snowfall we can receive in a short period, or the hills you have to cross to get here. The road to the shuttle stop is fairly flat, nothing else here is flat or straight. We are 2 hours form any interstate. Our best trait can work against you in 2WD. Oh, if you are looking at TWC for snow reports, don't; it is likely incorrect. Those rain days they predict often turn into powder days on the hill. I do not mean to alarm anyone as the results are quite varied depending upon the individual, but please understand it does snow here. A lot(hopefully). Cheers!

Well-appointed, clean and cozy

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five (including our 4-legged furry one) had a great time! Easy access to mountain but quiet and relaxing at same time. Thoroughly enjoyed being able to cook all our meals with every possible cooking item provided. Owner was super hospitable and checked in during stay. The jacuzzi next door was an extra amenity that really added to stay. Condo wonderfully equipped with everything needed to make you feel at home. And the awesome price doesn't hurt either!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at Billy's place. We love it. It's perfect for our family of five. Loft beds are comfortable and a plenty of room. Kitchen has all needed items to include blender, toaster, crock pot, plenty of ice trays and even spices and coffee! Billy gives great info about the area and how best to utilize the mountain.he goes over top to make tenants feel welcome. It is a short drive to mountain that allows us to stay away from all the crowds and enjoy some beautiful scenery. We love it and will be back!!!! Great snow too!

Great place at the bottom of the mountain

  • 3 of 5

Billy was extremely helpful, personable and thorough with everything we need for our arrival and stay. I just wanted to point out some things that made our stay a 3 star and not 5. First, the hot tub was broken and unusable. When we called to inquire about it, we were told that it had been broken for 2 weeks and that no one was going to be able to fix it during our stay. Considering that this was an integral part of our trip and rental choice, we found it very disappointing that we weren't told beforehand that the hot tub was broken. While Billy offered to pay for half of the resort water park fee as compensation, it just wasn't convenient to do that and it was never brought up again as an option. It felt rude to ask for money back...we just assumed that he would offer. The condo is at the base of the mountain and it wasn't exactly easy to go back up the mountain just to use the hot tub. Also, although it was mentioned in the description, the stairs to the condo were definitely not dog friendly. We ended up carrying our 80 pound greyhound up and down the sharp stairs each time to walk him. Another issue was the response when I mentioned that we may had lost a screw when we were attempting to replace the broken lightbulb in the upstairs area. The lightbulb was not working and upon calling and asking the owner what to do, he suggested that we replace the lightbulb with one that was downstairs. When we were replacing the lightbulb in the awkwardly shaped upstairs, we dropped the bolt from the bottom and could not find it. We searched for hours. When I told the owner we may not be able to find it, he said that it "HAS to be found" otherwise we were going to be charged for someone to come up and fix it in the middle of a snowstorm. I found that very offputting, considering that the lightbulb was out and he instructed us to change it and it was, above all, an accident (and after finding out that the hot tub didn't work). We did end up finding it, however, I was not pleased that I had to worry about paying someone to come up there and fix it, had we not. Overall, the condo was clean and sufficient for our uses. You get what you pay for and we compromised staying at the top of the mountain for cost. Some FYIs on our experience - 4 wheel drive is definitely recommended (I think the owner mentions that) and the loft upstairs has extremely low ceilings. There's no reason we wouldn't consider staying here again if we didn't mind being at the base of the mountain.

Owner's Response: The hot tub broke as it could at any property and is repaired by one of the two exact repair men in the area. It is a community hot tub like every other hot tub unless you get a house. I have no control over when the repair man shows up. A light bulb did indeed burn out. The location is very close to the slopes but not ski in/out as it is advertised. I am writing because of the dog thing. It is in the mountains. There are stairs no matter where you stay. The stairs have grates so that people can walk safely in snow. We are astounded by the idea that after allowing dog to stay in our home we are criticized over it's physical ability to make the trip. One thing to keep in mind is that I am not a hotel but rather this is my home that I rent. VRBO is not for everyone. We are considering no longer allowing pets due to the behavior of the few pet owners we have allowed.

Notes The remaining weekdays stays this season for stays from Sunday to Friday will be a $500 flat for families(please inquire about number of guests allowable a this rate). If you are a family of 4 or 5 please contact me directly so I can make this work for you. My priority is families of 4 or 5. Couples stay for $260 TOTAL total during the week. I cannot rent for less than this amount due to costs of maid and taxes which I have included in this total. The rating function on this site cannot accommodate this special price w/o adding a fee which oddly makes it difficult to even offer it if it is added.
