CASA MONTADO is a large 4 bedroomed villa situated in a small rural hamlet and stands proud on a hill offering the most wonderful views across the countryside to the ocean - and to Spain and beyond! Inside the rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. The impressive entrance hall leads to a TV lounge with comfy sofas - perfect for the kids and then to the formal lounge perfect for adults with music, books and games. At the back of the house is the kitchen with large dining table, American fridge/freezer,dishwasher, island preparation area, utility room and a plentiful supply of appliances and utensils, and leads directly to the pool and a shaded terrace - perfect for 'al fresco dining'. All 4 bedrooms are on the first floor - 3 doubles - 2 with en-suite bathrooms, and 1 twin room, along with the most amazing house bathroom...has to be seen to be believed! To the outside is a large pool (12m x 5m) and terraces with sunbeds. Brilliant for families. The local village has 2 bar/restaurants and the town of Vila Nova de Caecla around 8kms has shops and a wider choice of restaurants and the beach of Manta Rota is just a little further on. Both 10 minutes by car.

Exceeded all Expectations

Usually holiday accommodation always looks better in the photos, but not this time. It is a fantastic villa - even better than the photos. It is tucked away down a little track, which ensures you are undisturbed, not over-looked and have fabulous views. The rooms are all spacious and uncluttered, the kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms are all of a high standard.
The huge terrace gives plenty of shade or sun, whichever you choose. The pool was lovely for cooling off and large enough to swim up and down.
The local restaurants were good and very friendly. Ali's minimart is not far away in V N de Cocella and had everything we needed.
Best of all were the fabulous views during the day and the stars at night.

Fantastic Hide Away

What a fabulous villa!! My husband and I booked this villa to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary and we're so glad we did. The views from the villa are outstanding and the only noises we could here were the birds and the occassional lazy woof from the local farmers dog.
The villa was outstandingly clean and well maintained and the pool was like getting in to a warm bath even though we didn't have the pool heating on. The villa is looked after by a management company in the area and they were fantastic although we didn't have any problems whilst we were there but I am sure that if we had they would have been there to support us throughout.
Although in the middle of the country side (360 degree views!) the villa was actually not too far away from anywhere. Less than 10 minutes from the local village of V N de Cocella, 20 mins from Tavira Town (very pretty and worth a visit) and 20 mins from Monte Gordo and Villa Real ( you can catch the ferry to Spain from here which is supposed to be quicker than driving there).
At night it was lovely to sit out on the terrace to eat, drink and look at the lights twinkling from Villa Real in Portugal and accross the river in Spain. This is a beautiful part of Portugal, only just touched by tourism and we very much hope it stays that way for a long time. We would certainly go back to this area again and although we have a strict rule about staying in the same villa more than once we may have to break that rule for this villa.
Would definitely recommend this villa to anyone.

The small village of Corte Antonio Martins is peaceful and typically Portuguese. Very close to the villa are 2 reasonably priced Portuguese restaurants, serving fish and meat dishes. There are also a couple of village bars with very reasonable prices! VIla Nova de Cacela is the nearest town for main amenities, around 10 minutes drive away. Not a typically touristy town, the locals and friendly and welcoming and the prices are generally cheap. The town offers bank, cash machine, daily market, mini markets, internet station, and a good choice of bars, cafes and restaurants. On the 3rd Sunday in each month, the famous and large outdoor market visits and should not be missed. A sleepy and peaceful town without the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Car Hire essential.

The beautiful town of Tavira: When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquillity. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.

Beach & other activities: Manta Rota is approximately 10km towards to East, and here you will find beautiful white sands, rolling sea, sunbeds for hire and several snack bars. This beach is long and expansive offering its visitors great walking territory between other resorts right through to Monte Gordo! By travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do for everyone. For nature lovers, forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! Travelling West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine all easily reached by car or by day trip coach. The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is approx 25 km by car, where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping. Ayamonte can also be reached by ferry from Vila Real. Seville is about 170km away, and budding historians may enjoy Castro Marim Castle.

Golf: This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just before the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this apartment. (Flights not included)

    A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.

    The price includes cleaning before arrival and cleaning after departure. Clean bed linen and towels are also provided and will be changed during visits of more than 1 week.
