LA TOUR (THE TOWER)

Bruges (Brugge) House Rental Photos and Description

Culture and relaxation in the heart of Bruges, the Venice of the North

'AT HOME' en 'LA TOUR' are situated in the historical town at 8 min walking distance from the 'Markt' (main square).

'AT HOME' is an old house dating from the 19th century renovated with all the modern facilities.

'LA TOUR' (tower) is a 'Folly' from 18 century. It's a protected monument of the city of Bruges. The decoration is a compromise between design and antiques. The gardens created by the owner, who's a landscape architect, are really delightful.

Details for La Tour (the tower) 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2, 1 Bathroom

The Tower is located in the historical centre of Bruges in a quarter calm and aired at 8 minutes walking distance from the ' Markt '. His origins go back up to 16th century. The archives of the city, speak to us of 'one house of pleasance furnished with beauties and agates' In 18th century, the tower is restructured to give the actual face: a small typical 'Folie ' of this epoch. For more than 200 years, our family supported this heritage which we are proud to introduce you. Protected in the heritage of the city of Bruges since 1973, we absolutely restored it in 2009. It alloys modern conveniences and refined decoration. On the main floor, there are 1 hall with kitchenette, 1 Louis XV living room with a dining room corner. On the first floor, there are 1 Louis XVI sleeping room and 1 bathroom and on the second floor is situated the belvedere what offer a 360° view on the towers of Bruges.

AN ABSOLUTE GEM

  • 5 of 5
We were dead chuffed to have found such a gem of a place to stay during our time in Bruges. La Tour is just beautiful - capacious, thoughtfully restored and very private, it is the perfect Bruges hideaway. Staying there made us feel like we were 'putting one over' all the other tourists in the city! We would have loved a pint of milk and some teabags on arrival, but otherwise can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you Louise and Francois.

A GREAT PLACE

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for 1 week in September, 2013. We loved this place. It's charming, quirky and very spacious. Not only was the bedroom large and roomy, there is a living room, private terrace and the watch tower. We enjoyed watching the sunrises and sunsets from the "belvedere". The owners were very kind and helpful. The apartment was about a 15 minute very charming walk to downtown Bruges. It was also close the bike paths and canals. The owners lard was absolutely gorgeous. It was hard to leave!!

MAGICAL AND SO ROMANTIC!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for almost 2 weeks in La Tour for our honeymoon and we loved it!! It is so beautifully decorated and thoughtfully restored, it provided a perfect, cozy little escape.
Everything about it was completely magical.
The perfect combination of historic setting and modern conveniences produce an ideal vacation home.
We really felt like we had slipped into a fairy tale in our 200 year old tower, sipping tea and drawing in the belvedere or having cheese and wine in front of a roaring fire. I LOVED the bathtub!
The place is conveniently located but far enough from all the touristy spots to provide some peace and quiet. There is a private entrance for guests of La Tour, a handy netbook with internet access, wifi, a TV and a cute and fully functional little kitchen nestled in an antique wardrobe.
Francis and Louise were fabulous hosts, totally helpful if we needed them but mostly leaving us on our own. They provided us with a map of the town, made restaurant, shopping and service recommendations and gifted us with a bottle of Cava upon arrival. They were delightful, thoughtful hosts.
We were so sad to leave and can't wait to return for an anniversary. Now my new in-laws want to go stay at La Tour as well. I just can't praise it enough!!

UNIQUE FACILITY - WON'T SEE ANOTHER LIKE IT.

Unique facility - won't see another like it.
  • 5 of 5
Located right in the town of Bruges - it is something that you will never see again. This property is absolutely unique - comfortable - well situated - it is a must if in this area. Whoever came up with the idea must be congratulated - we enjoyed it to the fullest and were only there for three nights. We thought that we were going to travel all over and were so happy with our "tower" and the beautiful city of Bruges that we stayed there there the whole time. There is nothing like having a nice glass of wine up in the Tower and then heading into town for a great dinner. We found prices very reasonable and lots to see and do. This was a definite highlight of our trip. La Tour will not be forgotten and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone thinking of coming to Belgium.

Thank you to our hosts - well done.

WONDERFUL WEEK IN BRUGGE

  • 5 of 5
Our week in Brugge was made even more special by staying at "La Tour". This is a very special place & our hosts made the stay very easy. Everything was just right - it was so pleasant to be able to sit outside in the evenings to have a drink & chat. The stairs are very steep but if you are careful, absolutely no trouble at all. "La Tour" is within 10-15 minutes walk from everywhere in Brugge's old city - so within walking distance of any number of restaurants.

ROMANTIC LUXURY IN STORYBOOK SETTING OF BRUGGE

  • 5 of 5
This property gives one the feeling and sense of living in the 18th Century with modern conveniences. Louise and Francis are cordial and helpful hosts. Everything about this place is BEAUTIFUL...the luxuriant gradens, the furnishings and the decor. On the ground floor there is a private entrance from the street, a beautifully decorated lounge with marble fireplace and dining alcove, imaginative kitchen with French doors leading to a private patio and garden. The sunny first floor bedroom has an alcove with a modern bath tub. The adjacent dressing room with vanity and W.C. has stairs leading to the 2nd floor belvedere with enchantingly magical views of medieval Brugge. The ingenious renovations to La Tour have been aestnetically and artistically masterminded by Francis.
This is a location in a neighborhood - - ideal for the traveler who wishes to have the feeling of "living" in the place of their destination as opposed to "visiting/touring".
We recommend this site without hesitation.
