Great Cycling Area

The first time I have ever felt the need to clean a property BEFORE we started our holiday. It wasn't filthy but there were cobwebs in all the kitchen cupboards and the floor needed a good sweep, maybe I'm just fussy!
The pool was an excellent facility, very clean and well-maintained.
Found the lack of privacy a little annoying, the owners live next door, the longere is attached to their home. If you want a total get away this isn't the location for you.
Guemene Penfao, the nearest town, has an excellent Super-U supermarket, making self-catering a doddle! The property really could do with a can-opener though.
The advertised wireless internet is such a weak signal that we were unable to use it.
A lovely area though, really excellent for cycling. We went canoeing on the River Don which was a great day out.
Owner's Response: This is our first guests from this site and in 4 seasons we have had no bad comments! So we hope that future visitors will take make up their own minds. At the time of booking an opportunity is given to raise such questions as are important to the guest.
We clean the gite, making a point of deep cleaning ovens and fridges each changeover. In this instance a gap of 3 days and unfortunately the spiders are more active than usual. Also old houses with stone walls are dusty, plus spring in the country is often dusted with pollen, etc.
We make no pretence of saying it is entirely isolated and it would making cleaning and maintenance of a pool impossible not to be on site. These facts we see as extremely important for both health and pleasure.
A large garden needs constant upkeep - we garden and maintain the pool in the mornings and usually go elsewhere for the afternoon/evening, and try not to impinge on visitors space and so do not use the pool or the back garden when they are around. However being on site and interacting with visitors has been advantageous in that we can advise on what and where they can go and we have enjoyed their company as they ours. It also simplifies the solving of such small problems as missing or boken items, just let us know directly and we are happy to help out.
We also thank our last guest for the comment given above re the Wifi. Although we have used it ourselves in the gite obviously not all laptops will pick up the signal and so we will try to correct that soonest, thank you! We are also happy to let anyone use our computer if necessary, please ask.
We have a lovely house, garden and pool and hope that you will experience the wonderfull quiet of rural France, and are happy to lend our bikes to explore the surrounding area.
