Within easy reach of several villages for basic shopping and 10 minutes from town with shops, restaurants and large farmers' market. Pretty riverside town of Condom with Armagnac museum and boat trips 20 minutes drive. Cathedral town of Auch with large shopping centre 25 minutes. Many pretty fortified villages in the area, Roman villa at Séviac, abbeys and chateaux nearby. For younger family members, water parks at Gondrin and Agen as well as swimming lake with beach and picnic area within 10 minutes. Horse riding 10 mins.

Twin bedroom has wash room with wc and basin and an under-eaves play areas with books and games for all ages and TV/video.There is also an air conditioning unit. It is accessed by a steep staircase so is not suitable for very young children or people with reduced mobility.

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne und erholsame Woche in der Ancienne Boulangerie im September. Das Haus ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, wir fühlten uns sehr wohl. Meist hatten wir gutes Wetter und konnten den großen Garten nutzen, ebenfalls den Pool. Das besondere am Garten: irgendein Tier ist immer unterwegs, auf den meisten Foto’s erscheint die Henne. Meist sieht man sie gemeinsam mit der Ente. Es gibt dann noch zwei Katzen und Dora das Schwein. Sie ist inzwischen in einem eingezäuntes Gelände und darf nicht mehr überall hin. Es gibt viele Ausflugmöglichkeiten: die Stadt Auch ist sehenswert, Agen hat uns nicht so gut gefallen. Condom ist eine hübsche Kleinstadt. In Castera kann man eigentlich alles einkaufen. Zu beachten ist die Liste im Ferienhaus mit den Markt Terminen. Es gibt zahlreiche Schlösser zu besichtigen, wir waren in Busca mit anschließender Armagnac Verkostung. Sehr eindrucksvoll ist das Kloster in Romieu. Und das Fazit: die Ancienne Boulangerie ist absolut empfehlenswert.

A beautiful place all year round

The friendly welcome from hosts David & Kate enables you to immediately relax and soak up the character of the gite. It has many qualities.

Immaculately clean with towels & linen of the highest quality and very comfortable beds, it gives the feel of a real home. The welcome pack of locally sourced essentials is an added bonus.

Dining on the poolside terrace whilst admiring the views of the undulating countryside is a delight and you are encouraged to supplement your meals with any available produce from David`s kitchen garden. The pool which is always clean and well maintained provides welcome relief from the hot summer sun.

Having stayed there on many occasions whilst we oversee the renovation of our own house nearby we have experienced all four seasons and would recommend a visit at any time of the year. There is so much to do and see in this beautiful unspoilt region of France.

Peace and tranquility

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the wonderful L'Ancienne Boulangerie. The gite is full of character and beautifully decorated. The pool area is a delight to relax around and the extensive gardens are another big plus. Pick your own fruit, vegetables and herbs and eat beside the pool taking in the fantastic views and sunsets. There are plenty of attractive villages nearby and the roads are a pleasure to drive on. Don't miss the fabulous four-course 11 euro set lunch at Bassoues. We were a bit unlucky with some unseasonal weather at the start of our week but when the sun did appear it showed off the tranquil Gers in its full glory. David and Kate are superb hosts and will do anything to enhance your stay. Highly recommended.

An extended stay

Holiday September 2010

We came for 2 weeks but had to extend our stay for a further 4 days courtesy French Air Traffic control problems and Easyjet cancellation -but no hardship!

We know the area well, but still had such a good time, discovering new and old places. Such a lovely house, beautifully equipped and maintained. We loved the peace and quiet, the weather treated us well, and it was such a joy to pick fruit and vegetables from Kate & David's garden.

And when we were forced (!) to stay longer, we couldn't have been made more welcome.

Hopefully we'll be back.

The perfect get away from it all holiday

My family and I enjoyed a very relaxing week here in this perfect location. The views are stunning and this location offers total peace and quiet. The house is beautifully furnished, extremely well equippped and exceptionally clean. We were made to feel really welcome and at home by the owners, who will go out of there way to offer help and advice whilst leaving you alone to enjoy a relaxing holiday. This region of France is gorgeous with sunflowers everywhere and charming little villages to visit. We would recommend this gite without hesitation.
