Murteiras Apartment is a charming and romantic atmosphere top floor apartment with character, decorated with very good taste and the constant improvement makes this apartment most welcoming.

Wide sliding glass doors lead onto the large private balcony with a small table, chairs and a hammock to enable relaxation overlooking the breathtaking panoramic ocean, city and mountains view.

Sunsets are an absolute must at this apartment!

Ideally located in a Funchal city quiet alley, opposite from the touristic area which facilitates immediate contact with genuine local life. Not far from the city centre and very near the motorway which ensures easy access to the rest of the Island.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations are non-refundable unless we are able to re-rent the apartment for the period reserved by the guest.

If we are unable to re-rent the apartment for the said dates, we reserve the right to keep 100% of the deposit.

If we are able to re-rent the apartment, we will refund accordingly, minus a 75 EUR administration fee.

We will not make exceptions to the cancellation policy due to the personal circumstances of the guest or force majeure.

Personal circumstances include illness, changes in travel plans, travel delays, and any other reasons related to the clients personal circumstances which results in them not being able to fulfil the booking with Murteiras Apartment.

Force majeure includes war, strikes, natural catastrophes and any other events considered 'Acts of God.'

We recommend that guests have adequate travel insurance including the risk of cancellation in their own policies.

APARTMENT RULES

The following conditions are applicable to all reservations made.

Acceptation of a reservation shall imply acceptation of these general terms.

Murteiras Apartment reserves the right to modify the conditions at any time, without prejudice to any rights acquired previously.

It is important it to keep in mind the following rules of conduct:

I. Noise

- It is very important to respect the noise level (people, music) after 9.00 at night.

- Parties are not allowed.

- Meetings in the entrance are not permitted.

II. Security

- Always close the parking gate and the main door. It is important to ensure after entering or leaving that the doors remain securely closed.

III. Garbage

- Do not leave garbage bags in the entrance. The garbage should be taking out of the apartment in closed plastic bags into the garbage containers in the end of the street.

IV. Smoke

- Smoke in the apartment is not allowed. You can use the balcony as smoking area.

V. Lights and Heaters

- Help save energy and our environment, when you leave the apartment for a long period please ensure lights are turned off, heating is put on minimum or switched off.

VI. Behavior

- The guest is obliged to use the apartment only for the purpose for which it is intended.

- Any damage caused to the apartment or its contents has to be reported immediately to Murteiras Apartment. The guest shall be responsible for such damage.

- The guest has a duty to behave in a civic manner and to respect the normal co-existence rules. In the case that these general co-existence rules are not kept, Murteiras Apartment have the right to demand the guests to vacate the apartment.

VII. Maid Service

- The apartment will have been cleaned to a high standard before your arrival day.

- A 3 hours cleaning service is included for stays more than 7 days.

- The exit day the guest shall leave the apartment in a reasonable condition.

VIII. Towels and linen

- Fresh towels and linen will be provided the arrival day.

- An extra set of bed linen and towels will be also provided.

- The linen for the baby cot is not provided.

IX. Amenities included

- Murteiras Apartment shall offer the apartment with all the amenities described, in the case that on the arrival day some of the amenities are not provided the guest could ask for a compensation.

X. Guests Identity

- In the arrival day a registration form must be filled and signed including information related to the guests staying in the apartment.

XI. Security Deposit

- On the arrival day Murteiras Apartments has the right to ask the guest for a 250 EUR security deposit.

- The deposit will be refundable the departure day less any charges for damages, and extra cleaning service if the apartment is not left in a reasonable condition

XII. Liabilities

- Murteiras Apartment shall not be liable for any inconveniences which are out of its control.

- Murteiras Apartment cannot be held responsible for theft/damage to personal goods or accidents resulting in injury.

COMPLAINTS

In the unlikely event that you are disappointed with the temporary accommodation, you must contact us at once.

We will try to solve the problem.

If after that you still feel that the problem has not been resolved to your reasonable satisfaction you should within 7 days of returning from Madeira, put your comments in writing.

Superb apartment with a great view

The apartment is ideally situated above the city, the view from the balcony affords an outstanding panorama of the natural amphitheatre of the bay of Funchal

The apartment is tastefully decorated to a very high standard throughout and was spotlessly clean when upon arrival. A good selection of electrical appliances was available in the spacious kitchen, there’s a gas hob with electric oven and a microwave and oven combo also.

Visit the Mercado dos Lavradores to see what’s available in fresh produce and then stock up the kitchen. If you like seafood you’re in for a treat, be sure to try the amazing Black Scabbard (Espada Preta) fish. There’s a bakery about three hundred metres away (opposite the Centro Civico), which opens on Sundays also.

A choice of satellite TV channels is provided in several languages (only BBC World in English), ARD, TV5 Monde and RAI Uno, as well as the Portuguese channels. A good quality surround sound AV system is hooked up to the TV and you can play CDs and DVDs through it.

I often find it very difficult to get a good night’s sleep when away from home, this was certainly not the case here, it was a joy to be able to fall asleep on a comfortable bed and not worry about waking up in the middle of the night with back pain brought on by a substandard mattress.

If you like swimming I would recommend Canico just a few kilometres drive away, the water was 19 degrees in March and crystal clear.

Car hire is a great option, but be aware that Satnav road mapping is not available for Madeira at present. Navigating the island however is simple and the main roads are very well signposted. It takes only a couple of minutes to get to the apartment after leaving the quiet motorway that links the city to the airport. It’s not easy to get a good map of Funchal but it’s hard to get lost. Be prepared for the steep inclines on the island, I was amazed how many times I had to drop down to first gear.

If you’re not driving getting into town is simple as there’s a bus stop only a hundred metres from the apartment, alternatively taxis are abundant all the time.

This is one of the best apartments I have ever stayed in, the location was perfect – great view, easy access to town and country. Comfortable, stylish modern and clean, the pictures on the website are very accurate. Top class all around.

Madeira is incredibly beautiful and the people are genuinely friendly I look forward to going again.

Horizonte pur

Die Aussicht ist, wie bereits vielfach beschrieben wurde, einfach traumhaft. Man fühlt sich erhaben, Funchal liegt einem zu Füßen und die Sonnenuntergänge und das Lichtermeer abends sind wunderschön. Vom Bett aus kann man aufs Meer blicken Zudem ist das Apartment sehr gut ausgestattet, komfortabel und geschmackvoll eingerichtet (was, wie wir bei der Suche gesehen haben, nicht selbstverständlich ist). Es ist an fast alles gedacht, es gibt Kerzen und jede Menge Windlichter, sogar ein Fernglas. Es gibt elektrische Heizkörper, was im März angesichts der noch kühlen Abende angenehm war. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet (scharfe Messer!!, elektrische Saftpresse, Wok, selbst an Fischbesteck wurde gedacht). Wir haben dort gerne und oft gekocht.

Das Apartment ist in einer ruhigen Wohngegend gelegen, überwiegend Einzelhausbebauung. Ja, die Hunde bellen dort manchmal, auch nachts, aber das hat uns nicht so gestört. Wir waren heilfroh, dass wir nicht im Hotelviertel gelandet sind. Uns hat das Ambiente gut gefallen. Die Straßen sind sehr steil und oft auch schmal. Wir hatten einen Mietwagen, aber es gibt unmittelbar an der Straßenecke auch eine Bushaltestelle. Allerdings fährt der Bus meist nur jede Stunde. Obwohl man nur ca. 1 km von der Schnellstraße entfernt ist, hört man sie überhaupt nicht. Durch diese Lage ist das Apartment nicht nur ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Stadtbesuche in Funchal, sondern für Ausflüge rund um die Insel.

Carlos und seine Frau Ana kümmern sich hervorragend um die Wohnung, sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und verlässlich.

Beautiful location, clean, tidy

A great location for a week's break in Madeira. Town centre is walkable on the way there and you can get the bus back (it stops outside the flat). You wouldn't want to walk! Parking is tight - get the smallest car you can - we had a Renault Clio and it only just fit. Carlos (the guy who looks after the property) is a delight. Really friendly, excellent English, lots of good recommendations.

Sehr schöne Ferienwohnung mit toller Aussicht zu jeder Tageszeit und jeder Beleuchtung!. Saubere Wohnung mit geschmackvoller Einrichtung - man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Geschirr und Küchenausstattung sehr reichhaltig - alles da. Bad mit Wanne / Dusche und Bidet.

Lage nahe der Schnellstrasse, aber total ruhig. Bushaltestelle Linie 34 nur 30m entfernt. Aufenthalt für 4 Personen ideal.

A very nice apartment, accurately described and photographed in the advert. Clean and well-equipped. The views over to the Harbour from the balcony are stunning, but it is a steep 25 min walk down to the front if you want to get to the main restaurant/shopping area. The owner provides a bus timetable, the no.34 bus goes from right outside the apartment on a circular route to the town centre. Buses around the island very good if not hiring a car. Taxis from town back up to the apartment at night plentiful and reasonable. Away from the main hotel area, the apartment is in a good residential district, near to the motorway junction if touring. Recommend Mozart Restaurant in Old Town or its sister restaurant in the grounds of the old fort museum.

Excellent, well-equipped and clean apartment. Great view over Funchal and the atlantic. Good starting point for exploring Funchal and the rest of the island. 20 min. downhill / 30 min uphill to/from Funchal downtown on foot (physical endurance is recommended); 5 min by car/bus. Very nice and competent contact persons. Highly recommended for everyone !

FUNCHAL

Situated in a bay bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south coast of the island of Madeira, Funchal is the capital of Madeira.

This town that dates back some 500 years, since 21st August 1508, owes its name to a sweet-smelling wild herb, the “Foeniculum Vulgare” traditionally known as fennel [funcho], which existed in abundance at the time of its settlement.

Funchal is the largest tourist, cultural and commercial center of the archipelago of Madeira. This city offers a wide range of leisure activities, from visits to museums, monuments and other landmarks, to walks in its beautiful gardens, walks along the Marina of Funchal full of boats, shopping and going out at night to bars and nightclubs.

In the form of an amphitheater, the Municipality of Funchal stretches along a hillside that goes from sea level to the Pico de Areeiro, at 1.818m altitude.

GOLF INFORMATION:

PALHEIRO GOLF

This 18 hole, 6000 metre plus course was designed in 1993 by Cabel Robinson, and is skillfully set within the gracious parkland of the Quinta de Palheiro Ferreiro. Remarkable for tight fairways, fast greens, and judicious use of the beautiful trees that once covered the hillside, the course is a worthy challenge for all handicap levels.

Palheiro Golf is situated some 10 km east of Funchal with magnificent views overlooking the town and bay.

SANTO DA SERRA GOLF

Its original course, built in 1937, was redesigned in 1991 by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones who created a completely new and spectacular 27 hole golf course in one of the most beautiful landscapes that nature may offer.

Santo da Serra Golf is 20 minutes away from Funchal centre and 5 minutes away from the airport.
