Do you have questions? We are happy to help you!: We are a friendly agency with 2 persons in Berlin, we have been working for over 20 years with personally selected and well maintained accommodations in the large Metropolises of Europe.
We recommend the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht' especially because of its quiet and still central location close to the historic old town, its view to the Grachten and the moderate prices. The accommodation is especially suitable for families or small groups travelling together, that want a good breakfast, but don't want to cook.
The friendly host family from Amsterdam speaks very well English and well German and is available for all of your questions!
My friend and I stayed here for 5 days following a river cruise through the Netherlands. Elsbeth was very accommodating. She arranged for a driver to meet us at the ship and also to take us to the airport at the end of our stay. The room has a window on the street, a little table and chairs outside, a lovely canal across the street. The neighborhood is so quite. It is a nice respite after a day in the centrum. We found the little corner pub/diner by the tram stop. A local place, we stopped there each night to hang out with the locals. Very friendly and good food. I would recommend this place highly. Elsbeth and Bart are great. The breakfast was outstanding. We really enjoyed the area.
Our family of three stayed here for two nights in March. The location was easy to find and is across the street from a pretty canal. The house is one block from the tram so we had easy access to wherever we wanted to go. We arrived very early by train from Paris and the owner was nice enough to let us bring our bags by. She also provided a wonderful breakfast each morning at the time we requested. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. The small bathroom was just down the hall. I would definitely stay here again!
We arrived late and the owner greeted us on the street. We brought our 4 year old daughter and the owner took her to her own bed and gave her lots of toys and games to entertain her while we unpacked the car. The owner also gave us great dinner ideas, places, to park and the tram was only 30 meters from the front door. The two adjoining rooms were cozy and comfortable and the bathroom is down the hall from the rooms. The owner brought us a wonderful dutch breakfast at the time we requested with freash bread, still warm. Her family even bought a nice small gift for our daughter since the Christmas markets were already open. The city was wonderful to explore from this location and the Zoo was just down the block. Very easy to get around the city, even with small children. We had a wonderful time and will recommend this B&B to our friends and family. Thank you so much for making our trip spectacular.
Welcome to the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht' in one of the greenest district in the city centre of Amsterdam. At the edge of the old town and only 15 minutes walk or 4 stations with the tram from the historic Grachtengordel, the relaxing atmosphere of the city's district 'Plantage' is shaped by historic gardens and parks. This district of Amsterdam, planed since 1663, wasn't densely populated till about 1860. From this time dates the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht'. It is situated next to the Gracht of the same name. In the immediate surroundings you can find the oldest Zoo of Europe 'Artis' and the botanic garden from the 17th century, Hortus Botanicus. The Scheepvaart Museum (maritime museum), which is well worth seeing, can be reached in 15 minutes walk, likewise the Trumpet Museum or the romantic Oosterpark. A wide selection of restaurants, pizzerias, cosy cafés to sit inside and outside, tapas bars and a small brewery with adjoining pub are located in the immediate surroundings. And whose famous footsteps can be found here? Albert Einstein's! He was often visiting his fellow scientist and Nobel Price winner Pieter Zeeman, whose workplace was located in the Plantage Muidergracht. But Zeemann was a busy man, so Einstein often had to wait for him. So Albert Einstein liked to walk along the Gracht and regularly came by the B&B Grachtenhaus 'An der Plantage Muidergracht'!
