Campen is a small and rather sleepy village in the North Sea community Krummhoern. It has around 500 inhabitants. Night clubs and boutiques one will look for in vain. It is not to be confused with Kampen on Sylt ...

The freshly baked bread for breakfast is around the corner, so to speak - in the 'Lüttje Laden' which is like a mom-and-pop shop. Here rest is hip, you will find pure tranquility. But there is another side, however. The Huus Campen is just 2 kilometres from the open North Sea, the Wadden Sea, and next to it there is a dry beach with a surf school. Dry beach? A beach stop with some food, on the inland side of the dike. The surf school is the real thing. If normal surfing is not enough, you can learn kite surfing here. But even so, there are infinitely many possibilites: The fishing village Greetsiel, which for many of our Campen vacationers is almost too lively during the season, is only 12 kilometres away. There are countless other attractions. Accessible by bus (with the tourist card it costs just 1 euro for each trip!), by car, or thanks to the best cycling network, by bicycle. And you do not even need to bring a bike or rent it separately: Because we provide adult bikes. Electric bikes, children's bikes and any special equipment for bicycles can be rented directly in Campen at Bike Brügma - for very affordable prices.

Golfing - naturally goes: If you drive to the North Sea, you are probably not thinking primarily of golf. In the beach sand it is only moderate fun. Nevertheless, the North Sea vacationers do not have to practice abstinence with their golf ambitions - about 30 kilometres from Campen there is the Lütetsburg castle with a magnificent golf course. Details are on the Internet. And if you have go there, make sure to enjoy the beautiful landscaped park along with gastronomy.

Otherwise, the region is known for the diversity of its offer for people with sporting ambitions.

Anything that has to do with water: sports that have to do with water, are at home in Ostfriesland in a huge variety: sailing, surfing, canoeing, kayaking, etc. Nothing that is not there. It makes sense to inquire upfront on the Internet. All of Ostfriesland is criss-crossed by a vast canal system that is primarily there to keep the landscape in dry balance with the sea. Many of these channels can be navigated by boats, and motor boats. There are maps, which show exactly where the roads lead and what is allowed or forbidden.

Fisher will find their paradise in East Frisia. North Sea fish on the one hand, but also freshwater fish are a plenty. The many channels are often the only lined with fishers ... Around the 'Great Sea' in Südbrookmerland, you will find the largest inland waters of East Friesland that are located not far from the Campen fishing paradise. It is said that there are fishers who spend all day at the bank and visit just to sleep in their holiday homes.

The Vorderhuus is the traditional residential area the small farmer with his family lived about 220 years ago. Although everything has been extensively refurbished and partly rebuilt, a lot of old buildings could be maintained - as the wonderful East Frisian room-door with the blue frieze-glass corners. The room layout was retained - surely it once was neither kitchen nor bathroom. So today's bathroom was reclaimed from the former stables. Upstairs the Vorderhuus', which today features a gorgeous bedroom, once was a storage for hay and straw for the cattle - and fuel for the stove. Today it is a wonderful dream here - even with the windows open you exprience pure tranquility. Of course, thank to the high-quality 7-zone mattress that we offer in all our homes. (Just look at all the website, for example, our only a few kilometres away Burnhuus is worth a holiday.)

Dieses wunderschön restaurierte Häuschen mit viel Liebe zum Detail verbindet den Charme von Urgroßmutters Zeiten mit allem modernen Komfort, den man für einen erholsamen Urlaub braucht.
Selbst Fahrräder sind vorort, um sich in die ostfriesische Weite zu wagen..auch bei typisch durchwachsenem Wetter.
Außerdem ist Campen ein guter Standort, um Ostfriesland zu erkunden, sei es in die "Metropolen" Emden oder Leer, oder auf die Inseln Juist und Norderney. Auf dem Weg nach Greetsiel lohnt sich ein Abstecher zum "Ottoturm".

Campen in a small village (about 550 inhabitants), located about 2 kilometres from the North Sea. How old it is nobody knows for sure. But there in the village, a beautiful church from the 13th century gives an idea on which historical paths you move in the old village, which was once created to protect against floods on a hill (Warf village). The 200 year old Huus Campen is located directly next to the old church. Holiday in this village offers two options: to dive in forabsolute rest or active recreation. The location of the Campen site is in the heart of East Friesland, 16 kilometres from the bustling harbor town of Emden and 12 kilometres from the fishing village Greetsiel, where you can undertake beautiful bike rides (bikes are free). And the beach also has a lot going on: There are among other things, a surf school where you can learn, kite surfing for example. Huge fun for people who want more.

Golf: golf courses, there are two: the Lütetsburg Castle (in the north) and in Wiesmoor.

  • In the Upkammer on the ground floor level there is a bedroom, which is very suitable for two persons. But only if nocturnal escapades do not interfere with the partners: The bed is not freestanding, but nestled on three sides by the walls. The Upkammer is a space that was built in the old East Frisian houses on a kind of semi-basement. This was traditionally a cellar (served as a fridge), but you could not go very deep into the earth - because of the high water table. Anyway, you could permit Upkammern only at houses that have been built in a village warf like Campen. This means houses that have been built on a hill due to constant flooding. These are the actual heart pieces of Ostfriesland. The Upkammer was a kind of levelling for the subjacent half basement, therefore it has a lower ceiling. If you are interested in old houses, you will already be fascinated by the history.

Notes:
The Huus Campen is an over 220 year old former farm worker’s cottage. In the front house, in most modest conditions, lived the farm worker with his mostly large family. And because he could not make a living for his family, with his normal 10-12 working hours, at least six days a week, he kept animals in the barn behind the Vorderhuus (today Achterhuus). If you look at the dimensions of Huus Campen, it can not have been much: maybe a few pigs, a cow, a few chickens, ducks and a few sheep. The Huus Campen with its poor structure is dating from Napoleonic times, with only some masonry, without any sanitary facilities, and was orphaned early 1980s after the death of the last owner. The late 80s threatened with demolition. An Emden architect renovated the house. With our acquisition in 2009 we modernized it to its present state.
