El Medano (The Dune), is the synonym for Tenerife's longest beaches and strong winds of the world's top windsurfers and kiters. This region can be regarded as absolutely safe sun, the sun shines at least 3-5 hours per day. The trade winds blow throughout the year, thus it operated in a dry climate and it rains very rarely. El Medano, also known as Surf City is the windiest place Cabezo Bay of Tenerife. The wind usually blows more than 4 Bft. Wind days usually reach 5-7 BfT and peaks 9-11 Bft. The wind here is side-shore and the wave reaches 1.50 m to 2.50 m. The spot is ideal for fun-surfing, diving and kite surfing. Playa del Cabezo is known as a venue for international competitions. At the end of this bay is the 'Cabezo del Mar '. El Medano has grown from the once small fishing village into a flourishing community. The Playa Medano is 2 km long, starts and ends at the Plaza in the south.
