Ken and Liz Mason the resident owners of three 350 year old luxury self catering romantic stone cottages with beamed ceilings and Terracotta floors, set in an acre of award winning gardens with its own private swimming pool nestling on the edge of a lovely French hamlet surrounded by open fields in the heart of the Loire Valley. To maintain the tranquillity of the setting and to ensure total relaxation during your holiday with us we only accept adults. Each cottage has its own private area of garden, we have tried to broaden the range of plants in the garden so that no matter what time of the year you chose to visit there will be plenty to look at. There are too many flowers and shrubs to mention but we do have many types of clematis, honeysuckle, rose, grape vines, jasmine, sweet pea, laveteria and lavender. If you enjoy home cooking, our herb garden provides you with a multitude of herbs. More information at web site

Recreational opportunities abound in the region. Biking on the almost traffic-free country roads alongside the wide rivers, privately-owned châteaux and red-roofed villages, certainly qualifies as one of the most delightful activities. The many rivers which honeycomb the area, from the Creuse to the Gartempe to the Anglin, will be of special interest to swimmers and those who enjoy fishing. Bird watching is especially well-rewarded in the Regional Park of the Brenne, a wildlife refuge. For those who would like to be a little more energetic why not borrow our bikes and try one of the easy local bike rides and of course there are plenty of local walks, we also have local stables and tennis courts. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by Golf Courses which are underplayed for most of year, our nearest is just 15 mins away.

Relax at Les Fripps

Spikeydoo Norfolk
Review Submitted: September 30, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We know this wonderful part of the world quite well as we have visited it about 20 times since 2001 and owned a house at Pressigny for a few years.

We hadn't been to Les Fripps since March 2005; we remembered it as pretty good then, but now, even better - superb garden, peaceful idyllic atmosphere, wonderful accomodation and extremely helpful [but not intrusive] owners.

We wouldn't hesitate for a second in recommending Les Fripps very highly; do yourself a favour and book for next year - as we are going to do!

Lovely La Lune

Brian and Sarah St Albans, UK
Review Submitted: September 27, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Our recent stay in La Lune marked the fourth visit in as many years. This pretty well summarises our feeling about the cottage and this beautiful part of France. We've now visited at times from April to September and found something uniquely attractive at each time of the season. It is always tranquil and beautiful, but the changes to light and colour as the summer progresses have given our stay a nice difference each time. Another constant has been the warm welcome and friendly helpfulness of Ken and Liz the owners. Apart from keeping the accomodation first rate, they are knolwedgeable and have been able recommend fun and interesting things to do in the area. We certainly look forward to it all again next year. The only real decision is should we try one of the other gorgeous cottages!

Fantastic Holiday

ajrowles Leeds
Review Submitted: September 24, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed in July 09 for 1 week in La Lune. Although the weather wasn’t fantastic the accommodation was superb and there is so much to do in the surrounding area that a few showers really weren’t a problem at all. Les Frip is in a wonderfully secluded location and we really were able to get ‘away from it all’. The wines of Chinon and Vourey are also very good and its well worth driving around a few vineyards! Our hosts, Ken and Liz, are very welcoming and always around should you need local information, they also booked restaurants for us (following their recommendations) which was much appreciated. We had lunch at L’Orangerie restaurant in the grounds of Chenonceau Chateux which we would highly recommend a visit too, but do book. We had a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend visiting this part of France and staying at Les Frip.

Get away from it all at Les Frippieres

Steve & Tania Codsall, W Midlands
Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This was our first stay at Les Frippieres (La Lune) and we were not disappointed at all. We've visited the area previously and were looking for a private and secluded gite with a good level of equipment. We found all this and more at La Lune. Very well equipped with a large bedroom leading directly out to a private terrace. Stay up late and count the stars (and the bats!). Very well situated for visiting the area but you definitely need a car. Several excellent restaurants nearby, not least of which is the Michelin-starred Le Promenade at Le Petit Pressigny.
The proprietors of Les Frippieres, Ken & Liz, made us very welcome and were very helpful during our stay, while not being intrusive.
The grounds of Les Frippieres are beautiful (even after this summer's draught in France) and the pool is great for a dip on a hot afternoon. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the gites to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in this beautiful area of France.

La Lune - a special retreat.

Nick & Pauline London, UK
Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
La Lune is an idyllic cottage, very comfortable, excellently equipped. The gardens are delightful and so private and tranquil, it was easy to forget the outside world.
Location is ideal for visiting the many chateaux and wine caves in Vouvray. The countryside with its flower decked villages and quiet roads make travelling so easy. We visited Blois, Cambord, Azay le Ferron, with its decaying elegance and wonderful furnishings, and Loches and managed to get to the wine caves in Vouvray.
Ken and Liz's recommendations for restaurants proved excellent and led to expanding waistlines. We enjoyed meals at Chez Grandma, Le Vieux Fournil, Hotel de France in Loches and a gastronomic delight at La Promenade in Le Petit Pressigny. Liz and Ken kindly made all the bookings for us. Eating on our patio was also delightful on balmy evenings and one could enjoy an extra glass of wine.
La Lune is a wonderful retreat from the world.Alas! a week was not enough time to see all we hoped to see, but the good thing is, we shall definitely be back.
Thank you Ken and Liz for such generous hospitality in such idyllic surroundings. We would happily recommend Les Frippieres to our friends.
