truly picturesque

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from an amazing week at le fleuve. Most relaxing. The cottage is comfortable and well appointed which is most important for us as we love to cook with the local produce.. the pool was well used after a day out and about to cool down followed by a chillout on the comfy loungers. The verandah became a fav spot to read in the evening with a glass or two. The area and local villages are beautiful. Lunches in the towns are such good value with 3 courses for 13€ the norm. Liz and ken made as most welcome.

A most relaxing holiday at Les Frippieres (Fleuve

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful part of France. Practically everything about the cottage met our hopes in terms of comfort, cleanliness, character and equipment, and the pool and garden couldn't be bettered. Ken and Liz made us feel welcome and were friendly and helpful - their welcoming gifts of wine, milk etc were most appreciated! The area is pretty and rural, and although a little far from the major chateaux if one wanted to visit lots of these, had plenty to offer in terms of pretty towns, villages, churches etc, and lots of peaceful country walks. We were also fortunate to have two weeks of gorgeous weather, not too hot, with just a little rain to make the grass green. We hope to return one day to this special corner of France.

Lovely rural sanctuary

  • 4 of 5
We had a very relaxing stay in Le Ciel Bleu. It is exactly as it is sold on the website - fitted to a high specification. We were mainly fortunate with the weather so were able to enjoy relaxing by the pool most days. We took advantage of visiting the local markets and would particularly recommend Loches and La Roche-Posay as they both had attractive old towns to explore once you had finished at the market. We also visited the chateau at Azay-le-Rideau.

I must emphasise that this holiday is very rural. My husband was disappointed not to have a boulangerie in walking distance as he considers his morning walk an essential of the holiday. Le Grand-Pressigny is 10 minutes distance by car which would make it a very expensive breakfast! That was our fault for not reading the particulars more carefully. The rural location means that you also have to be prepared for the farmer to carry on with his work during your holiday. For us that meant rather a pungent smell of manure for a couple of days - most people will escape that treat.

My over riding impression of the holiday is field after field of sunflowers which ran practically up to the door of this lovely holiday property.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your positive comments, sorry about the manure it only happens once every two years and he always tries to do it just before rain so that the smell disapates as quickly as possible, I expect it is the sacrifice we all have to make in order for him to produce the product that makes that wonderful French bread we all adour.

our perfect wonderful stay at Les Frippieres

  • 5 of 5
We have just returned from our holiday to Les Frippieres, we had a wonderful time, it was so peaceful and calm, felt like a retreat. Our accomodation had everything we needed, a nice cold bottle of bubbly in the fridge, a gift from Liz and Ken the owners!! They were really helpful about everything, places to visit, eating places but only if you asked them. The pool area was lovely and I got to do my washing in the Cave-Liz had provided all the washing powder and softener, so it had to be done! It was a good position to visit lots of lovely villages in The Loire, Loches was one of our favourites. We recommend this place 100% and we will return one day for the peace and quiet that we all need from time to time Liz and Ken were the perfect hosts, we felt we had known them for a long time.

A lovely haven in stunning countryside.

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in Le Ciel Bleu, it was a lovely little property and a perfect place to relax. Great views, great gardens and pool. Nice little table outside, great for your morning croissant. A good base for exploring local villages, and within reach of chateaus like Villandry and Chenenceau. Everything you needed was there, including some milk and provisions to get you started. The bottle of wine was a lovely thought. Lovely and clean, shower room and kitchen area which included a dishwasher aswell! Good to have access to a washing machine and also secure parking. Friendly hosts. All in all we had a wonderful time and wouldnt hesitate to go back or to recommend to friends or family. Thank you!

Recreational opportunities abound in the region. Biking on the almost traffic-free country roads alongside the wide rivers, privately-owned châteaux and red-roofed villages, certainly qualifies as one of the most delightful activities. The many rivers which honeycomb the area, from the Creuse to the Gartempe to the Anglin, will be of special interest to swimmers and those who enjoy fishing. Bird watching is especially well-rewarded in the Regional Park of the Brenne, a wildlife refuge. For those who would like to be a little more energetic why not borrow our bikes and try one of the easy local bike rides and of course there are plenty of local walks, we also have local stables and tennis courts. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by Golf Courses which are underplayed for most of year, our nearest is just 15 mins away.

Other Activities: Bird Watching, Chateaux

Golf: We are lucky enough to be surrounded by quality golf courses that are not only quiet but affordable. Our nearest club is the 18 hole Golf du Connetable at La Roche Posay, just 15 minutes away and is a challenge for all standard of golfers. This ‘Woburnesk’ course is set amongst conifers with oaked lined fairways, wildlife is plentiful Red Squirrel’s abound and don’t be surprised to see the odd Stag or Boar running off into the forest. Golf de La Roche Possay

At Loches we have the 9 hole Golf Loches Verneuil which has been built in association with St. Andrews. Golf Loches Verneuil

Just outside Chatellerault is the Golf du Haut Poitou, here we have both a 9 and 18 hole course set around a large lake, again the 18 hole course is a challenge to all. Golf du Haut Poitou

A bit further out is the Golf du Manoir de Beauvoir, this beautiful course is set in the grounds of an old 19th centaury Victorian style manor which is now an hotel. Golf du Manoir de Beauvoir
