The interesting town of Royan is a 10 minute drive (train station). The zoo at La Palmyre, golf and 'la cote savage' (wild coast) are within half an hour's drive. Days out to chic La Rochelle, Cognac distilleries, Romanesque Saintes, Bordeaux vineyards and shopping, Venise Verte for punting, fantastic Futurascope near Poitiers or Puy de Fou theme park.
