Overview

Sayulita House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Casa Guamuchil, named for the tree at the house entrance, is a modest, Mexican-style home with two bedrooms and one bath and an additional outdoor shower. The house is two and a half blocks away from the main beach and two blocks from the village square. The surrounding garden includes mango, limon, bouganvillea, hibiscus and banana trees and it's a treat to enjoy from a hammock under the palapa. Iguanas are frequent visitors to the Guamuchil tree. Mexican tiles, furnishings and architectural details complete the experience. There are stairs to the ROOF DECK and PALAPA to allow you to enjoy a huge view of the mountains and town and a peak of the ocean, with your afternoon margaritas.

Maid service is twice per week. Additional service is available upon request with a minimal extra charge. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEACH TOWELS! Purified drinking water is provided. There are enough dishes, glassware and cooking utensils for four, in the simple, but functional kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, blender and coffee maker.

The house is nice because it's close to town, yet up off the street (somewhat removed from the dust and noise) and has a pretty view. This works because it's on the side of a hill. Thus, there are around 40 steps up to the house. If you're limited physically, this house might prove challenging.

Your Sayulita experience in Casa Guamuchil will be simple, comfortable, and slow-paced. The house is perfect for two couples or a family of three or four. We hope to hear from you!

PLEASE NOTE: I include this disclaimer for those new to Sayulita that imagine resort-style accommodations: Keep in mind that Sayulita still retains a rural character. Many of the locals have roosters and dogs, which you will see and hear during your stay. In the late spring, summer and early fall it can be hot and some people prefer to have A/C, which we do NOT have. Our property manager is excellent and the house is lovely. However, if you are looking for sterility, you may prefer one of the resorts with full amenities closer to Puerto Vallarta. We love Sayulita because of its rural character, but not everyone feels the same way.

Everything you need...

We love Sayulita and were very happy that Judy could accommodate us during the high season. The house was very convenient to the beach, the square and our favourite restaurants while being just far enough away from the action to be restful.
We spent all our late afternoons on the patio and roof top deck, which were a bonus. The kitchen had what we needed for light cooking. The property manager was available during our stay (although we didn't need much), he did check in with us.
The house is basic, but for the price, it was everything we needed.

very good location! Not very clean.

The location is excellent! You can walk to town in 100 yrds and nice to be close to the best swimming beach accessible by a small charming pathway at the back of the house.
The rooftop palapa is lovely too.
However I have some items that could really be improved upon: How about a dust pan, a knife that you can cut bread or meat with, a hand-towel, shower mat, door mat, a frying pan?
It was not very clean. In Sayulita everything is very clean and gardens and stairs are cleaned almost everyday so that was a big let down.
The iguanas in the tree next to the deck were fabulous to watch and we felt we had National Geographic next door!

Owner's Response: I work very hard to make Casa Guamuchil as comfortable as possible for my guests while also keeping it affordable. The towels and linens were replaced this fall, and are of very good quality. Because there is no washer/dryer on the premises, keeping up with the laundry is challenging and I opted against separate hand towels. Also, there is a broom and dustpan around the back of the house near the outdoor shower. Last season I stocked the house with a new set of knives, and there were plenty of pots and pans. I am dismayed to learn those items have disappeared, but am working with my property manager to get them replaced. With respect to the walkway, because of the constant iquana activity, it is very difficult to keep up with the debris that falls from the mango and guamuchil trees. The walkway is shared with 2 other homes with different owners and property managers. I will coordinate with them to see if the sweeping schedule can be revisited. I urge my guests to let me or my property manager know if they have questions or concerns. We are both readily available by email and phone. That gives us the opportunity to address deficiencies so the remainder of someone's stay is in keeping with expectations. I am glad you otherwise enjoyed the location and the iguanas. Casa Guamuchil feels very much like a sunny jungle tree house and the guests are generally pleased with the home and the property management. Several families return every year. I wish I'd been able to address your concerns as they came up.

Excellent location

Had not been to Mexico in several years and decided to go on a girls getaway. After booking the trip I started to have a little anxiety about not knowing the area. (I can tell I’m getting older ?). I am so glad I didn’t let that change my mind as we had a great time! Casa Guamuchil was perfect. Sitting on the veranda with a Margarita in hand was like being in Paradise and so relaxing. The less than 5min walk into town and the beach was ideal. The price is great, the house is comfortable and relaxing and you can’t beat the location!!! Thanks Judy for all your recommendations.

Excellent Sayulita place!

  • 5 of 5
Just came back from our first Mexican vacation. We needed a lot of guidance and had many questions - something Judy (the owner of the house) did not mind answering at all. We are a family with two small kids and we all loved the house. I really cannot think of anything more one can ask for in Sayulita - it is just close to everything and it will give you the feel of being in a real Mexican house! We spent two more days in Puerto Vallarta's Hilton (all inclusive) and while we were there we asked our kids about where they liked it more. Without any hesitation they said "Casa Guamuchil"! We really hope that we will have the opportunity to go back to Sayulita, and yes, the first thing we will do it will be contacting Judy to check if Casa Guamuchil is available!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you guys enjoyed your stay! I'm always happy to provide info on logistics and answer questions about the house or Sayulita in general. It all seems a little intimidating from afar, but actually is quite easy and comfortable once you get there. I would love to have you return for another visit - just let me know! - Judy

Perfect rental

  • 5 of 5
Casa Guamuchil was perfect for our five-day stay in Sayulita. We loved the location- a five minute's walk to the beach and even less to the town square. Still, from its perch on the hill, we felt we were in complete privacy and surrounded by nature. Our 2-year old daughter LOVED watching the countless iguanas and birds in the the big tree. A true nature preserve. Thanks Judy!

Perfect little place!

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from a week in Sayulita, and our first time staying at this house. It was just me and a friend, and this house worked out just right. We didn't want anything too fancy and didn't want to spend a ton of money. The two bedrooms are spacious and there is plenty of closet and drawer space. The kitchen worked great- and we did eat at home at least once a day, if not more. The roof area was great for hanging out in the afternoons and evenings.

The location was perfect for us. It's so close to town and the beach- but it also worked great for walking to Playa de los Muertos along the road instead of the beach- as an alternative.

The price is great, the house is simple yet comfortable, the location is great.
