The Castello Aragonese is easily the most impressive historical monument in Ischia. It stands on a volcanic rock connected to the island by a bridge built in 1438 by Alfonso of Aragon. The castle perched on a rock towering above the sea had its golden period during the fourteenth century. There is just nothing to compare to it: the castle walls house churches, courtyards, antique archways, terraces, gardens and arcades with outstanding views of the sea, the peninsula, the harbour of Ischia and the wide horizon in the distance ... simply unique! Enjoy the fabulous views from your private terrace! Take the lift from the top part of the castle down to the beach and to the restaurants... This apartment has been decorated in very attractive and harmoniously matching Mediterranean pastels tones. It is especially spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished: white walls, arched doorways, low steps, antique terracotta tiles and hand-painted terracotta fresco... lovely oil paintings in delicate colors decorate the walls (the owner is an artist). This apartment has a Mediterranean flair and southern atmosphere. The views from the terrace are outstanding.

1 hour by ferry from Naples. Arrival and departure transfer is included in the price! Day trips possible to: Capri, Procida, Neapals, Pompei, Paestum and the Amalfi coast with stops at Sorrent, Positano, Ravello, Vietri sul Mare and Salerno. The island is famous for it´s spa waters and hot springs. Next beach 1000 m, next restaurant 250 m. After a long day on the beach, why not relax in the Cocò restaurant. This small wooden hut has been around since the 50s and is just below the Castello, at the end of the causeway. We highly recommend their Spaghetti alle Vongole and after a couple of glasses of wine, it is comforting to know that your apartment is so near ... just a brief walk back home across the water, through the mild summer evening: wander along the boardwalk, with the tang of salty sea water in your nose, hop into the lift and travel upwards... fall asleep to the sound of waves and awaken to the greetings of seagulls.

  • Included in the price:

    Bed linens changed once a week (on Saturdays), bath and kitchen linens changed twice a week (on Wednesdays and Saturdays), water, electricity, gas.
    Maid service twice a week (on Wednesdays and Saturdays).
    Arrival and departure transfer: from Naples (airport/train station/hotel) by taxi to Naples harbour and from Naples harbour to Ischia by hovercraft and from Ischia harbour to the Castle Aragon by taxi and back on departure. Please indicate your arrival details one month prior to arrival!
    Basic food storage for the first breakfast consisting of bread, milk, jam, mineral water, coke, coffee, tea, 1 bottle of wine and some fruit.
    Tour of the Castello on request on arrival.
    Concierge service at a nearby hotel.
    Standard first dinner in the restaurant of the nearby hotel, on your first evening, after a long trip (only available from Easter until end of October).
  • Security deposit, air-conditioning, heating, additional bed, final cleaning to be paid in euros on the premises:
    Security deposit: EUR 350 per apartment.
    Air-conditioning available only in Campanile (if used): EUR 20 per day.

What is there to do?:

Boat trip around the island with a skipper and his mate. A whole-day trip: Euros 155 for a maximum of 4 people.

A boat trip including fishing and dining on your catch! From dawn until early afternoon during the months of April/May/June and July: Euros 250 for a maximum of 4 people.

A visit to the Spadara Vineyards and the Pararazzo Wines of Ischia cellars, including wine-tasting. A half-day trip: Euros 155 for a maximum of 4 people.

Guided country walks, to discover the most ancient dwellings on the island. A half-day trip: Euros 95 for a maximum of 4 people.

A guided tour of the La Morterlla Gardens. A 3-hour trip: Euros 95 for a maximum of 4 people.

A guided visit to the Archeological Museum at Villa Arbusto. A 3-hour trip: Euros 95 for a maximum of 4 people.

Spa waters:

The island is famous for it´s spa waters and hot springs. The temperature of these mineral waters can go from 15C° and 86C°, therefore cold to ipothermal and thermal to hyperthermal. The hot baths at Negombo in the north-west of the island, are particularly chic: the facilities are well cared for and there are many different pools, as well as an attractive bay, surrounded by almost African flora, with palm trees and a wealth of flowering trees and bushes (opened from April to October).

Sauna:

Appealing (and yet simple) are the small Gondola baths at the wonderful sandy beach of Maronti, in the south of the island: a small hot water pool situated right on the coast and a natural sauna carved out of the rock: hot steam rises up from the earth – so hot that you even feel the need to cool off on the sea, during the winter ... This is just the place to forget the rest of the world ... The hot baths, appreciated by the Romans, explain why the Ischian coast is so popular with visitors from all over the world. Last but not least: the hot springs explain the special climate on the island - they provide mild weather all year round.

The Best

We booked this through Bettina and I can say that every detail was just as it should be. Once arriving at the Castle Karen and staff took great care to insure our privacy AND comfort. Castello Aragonese Campanile is all we ever need for a wonderful and unique Italian experience. Best local spot, Bar Dell' 800, Carmine knows everyone and will help with anything. Food is all great but Cero & Caterina(+Momma) cooked, sang and made us feel at home.(P.S. Do not miss the Pizza next door to C&C) The island is small enough to feel cozy but large enough that you can have a varity of things to do. Ischia is the best and this is the best of Ischia.
