There is a little private path that leads to your own section of beach and also to our little dock in Hither Creek. We store one kayak and one rowboat and will arrange for rentals to be delivered. Bikes of all styles, sizes and types can be delivered to the house and picked up when you leave. Nantucket has phenomenal bike paths that crisscross the island and are safe as well as scenic.

Our parents were generous and foresighted. Our family started coming to Nantucket in the sixties and our summers on this island are precious and continue to be so. Our parents purchased The Sea Breeze, a small beach cottage on Madaket Road and then purchased The Afterglow and the land and other houses surrounding our house to avoid over building and to keep things as natural and simple as they should be on this island.
My sister and I inherited this land and houses in 1997.Now, our children have been able to enjoy the same wonders of spending time in a summer house on the beach in Madaket. I have continued the tradition of keeping it as beautiful and simple as it should be. We have lost almost four acres of land and two houses in the past ten years due to storms and erosion, but we persevere out of love and appreciation for a place that does not exist anywhere else.
Our family started renting in Madaket in the 1960's and fell in love, there is no place else like it. Once you have been on Nantucket it would be difficult if not impossible to find another place with this history and natural beauty and sophistication---great museums, theatre and art galleries, lectures and phenomenal restaurants. Islands are unique.
Our property location is a private compound nestled between the ocean and Hither Creek and Nantucket Sound. We are surrounded by beauty and nature. The sight and sound of the ocean and the sunrise and sunsets are unbelievable and never the same. We are at the end of the road in Madaket, the best and most natural part of this beautiful island. Relaxed, beachy, casual and fun. We can ride our bikes all over the island on the bike paths that begin at the end of our driveway. We can walk to the only retail enterprise in Madaket---The West End Restaurant and General Store. All the basics--plus beer, wine, tequila, vodka, etc. are there and its great place to meet people. There is a new restaurant in Madaket this summer called "MILLIE's" after the legendary Madaket Millie. This is the only new restaurant on the island this year and definitely one of the most popular. Great bar and fresh fabulous food (Cal-Mex). Great Frozen yogurt and a take-out window that has another great menu and open 10 AM to 10PM. Millie's has a shuttle that runs back and forth to town as well as The NRTA Shuttle. The bus departs and returns every half hour from The West End and takes you right downtown without the hassles of parking. Plus the shuttle will pick you up with your bike and/or your dog!
Shelling and every other kind of fun you can dream about, seigning for fish, crabbing off our private dock. Taking the kayaks up the creek and around the sound, exploring Smith's Point, a wildlife preserve with no one around for as many miles as you want, great bike paths traverse the entire island and are very safe, shuttle bus goes all over the island as well--stops about two minutes down the road at The West End Restaurant and General Store. This is the only business in Madaket. Great bar and simple food with Great Pizzas. Enjoy the famous Madaket Mystery. The store offers newspapers, candy, soda and all the last minute needs---milk, toothpaste, garlic, t-shirts and boogie boards plus magazines, newspapers and tobacco.
