Relax in our stunning 1920's Spanish house by the Pacific Ocean. Feel old Hollywood: Mission windows, lush landscaping, original beams. Its ample size is ideal for a single family or two families of 4. Also a 4 person guest house renting for $2,000 per week non-summer only.
Gourmet kitchen features Jerusalem limestone surfaces, stainless appliances, cook's stove and wine refrigerator. Provencal cement tiles cover the walls, back splash and custom kitchen table, which seats 6-8 people. There is counter seating for 3, to chat with the 'cook of the house. Talavera tiles, Mexican pavers and original mahogany stained oak cover the floors of this spacious, lovingly restored home.
Master suite is fit for a King with lush linens/draperies, enormous walnut and iron bed, seating areas, fainting couch, TV/VCR and CD player. Enormous master bath is comprised of three rooms for maximum privacy and leisure. (See further details tab for more description.)
Beaches: You are an 8 block walk plus a staircase to the Pacific Ocean, about 5-7 minutes.
Famous Third St. Promendade is a 10-15 minute walk, and Venice Beach is also within walking if you like a hearty walk.
Rent bicycles and skates at any kiosk on the beach path at very reasonable rates.
Montana Avenue shops and restaurants are one block/street away, with child friendly restaurants with kids' menus. Beverly Hills 15 minutes.
Malibu Beaches are starting at less than 10 minutes, with Zuma at about 30-40 minutes up the coast, a beautiful ride.
Property Description Continued: Two smaller but ample upstairs bedrooms contain trundle beds. One room contains an oak sleigh bed with trundle that can be separate or combined at bed height to form a king bed, an oversized leather chair and a large mirrored closet. This room also has a twin futon in the closet to accommodate a tenth person. The adjacent black and white original Malibu tiled bathroom is cosy yet has a unique steam bath combined with shower.
The mission style child's bedroom at the top of the staircase has an attached bath/shower with original Malibu tile detailing in lavender and black with a large walk-in closet. A sizeable downstairs guest bedroom has a mahogany queen-sized sleigh bed, television and separate black and white art deco styled bathroom/shower and roomy closet.
The small room off the study has a twin-size bed with Ralph Lauren linens and art deco armoire. The closet houses the washer and dryer.
Property Description Continued: The main living room is done in mission style with red leather antique couch and tobacco colored club chairs, with central Indonesian coffee table and mahogany antique baby grand piano. It is a room bathed in soft light where at the end of the day, you can luxuriate with a glass of wine.
The large living room off the kitchen has a pass through and oversized yellow chenille sofas and chairs, is filled with toys, a large screen TV, VCR and DVD to curl up and relax after dinner. The dining room has a built in mahogany breakfront and a Beidemeier inlaid dining table.
Local sights are numerous and include: one-block walk to Montana Avenue and exquisite shopping, restaurants and markets. A walk to the Third Street Promenade is delightful, where on weekends you can view jugglers, street musicians and pranksters, catch a film and eat in one of the multitude of great great restaurants on the street. There is an open air market there on Wednesday and Saturday mornings until noon.
We loved the house from the moment we walked in! The downstairs areas were huge and seemed to go on for ever. And there is a nice courtyard at the back, although it lacked shade. The 5 bedrooms were what we needed although, apart from the large master bedroom and the guest suite, the beds were a bit small. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and modern. It was altogether a great house for a family and friends. The location was excellent - close to the shops and restaurants in Montana and an easy walk
down to the beach and pier. Parking on the street was no problem and the area was quiet and safe. The owner was very accommodating to our needs. I recommend this house very highly.
This house is very spacious and large. It housed six adults that were renting the home while on business in Santa Monica. Plenty of bathrooms for all to use without a problem. Master bedroom is very spacious with very large master bathroom as well. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. Must park on the street and there was never a problem even with us having two vehicles that we needed to park during our 8 day stay. I would recommend this rental property to anyone interested.
The house was far larger than we expected and with 5 adults including two teenagers, the kitchen area and family room were just perfect for everyone, we had no need to use lounge and dining room. With most bedrooms having a bathroom and own TV, everyone had their own space. The master bedroom is huge! The area around the house is good and very quiet. A great supermarket down the road with everything you could wish for and it is a 15 minute stroll to beach. Santa Monica is a good half an hour stroll though. We hired a car & satnav, this was crucial as we travelled to LA to visit relatives most days, but you could also put in things like nearest burger bar and it gave the directions! Shops in Santa Monica are great, try and look out for discount cards in macey's! Most restuarants are what you would expect from the US, Beanies was good value and alot of food, but Lago was far too expensive and food was not great. Mailbu is just up the road, Dukes Restuarant is well worth a visit, great fish dishes and of course Venice Beach must be done for people watching. If you go into LA, Chez Nous is fantastic for breakfast, the choice is incredible, but it is busy at weekends. If we go next year, we shall definitely book again, far easier than hotels and even our teenagers were chilled!
