Ski Information:
The family ski area of Postalm is 20 minutes away by car. This is fantastic for beginners and intermediates with a whole range of wide sunny blue and red runs. It also offers great cross-country skiing
The Dachstein West area offers 165km of easy to difficult runs. Gosau / Russbach can be reached in 40 minutes from the chalet.
Dachstein-Krippenstein in Obertraun also offers excellent skiing including the longest run in the area from top to bottom of the mountain - 11km in total.
Skiing is also available in St. Gilgen (Zwolferhorn), Bad Ischl (Katrin), Ebensee (Feuerkogel) and Altaussee (Loser).
There is so much opportunity for skiing in and around the area, all within 50 minutes drive from the chalet.
Golf Information:
For the golfer, the Wolfgang Valley has to be one of the most magnificent courses to play. Surrounded on all sides by mountains, this sunny course is very popular in the area.
Other golf courses are in Mondsee and Bad Aussee.
Other General Information:
This area is offers a whole range of activities for the whole year. Lake swimming is popular with many attractive beaches and surprisingly warm water from July to Sept. It is safe and the water is of drinking quality. There are so many historic places to visit, including the famous church in St. Wolfgang, famous for it's Alter by Pacher. Walking around the lake is beautiful, such as the pilgrim route, an historic 11km walk from St Wolfgang to St. Gilgen, returning by ferry. In the surrounding area there are plenty of places to visit including the historical village of Hallstatt, salt mines & ice caves. The nearby spa town of Bad Ischl , which was once the summer retreat of the Austrian Royal family is a popular destination, with its thermal baths renowned for their healing properties. Salzburg is about an hour away by bus, or 40 minutes by car. Visit Mondsee and see the cathedral used in the Sound of Music, Gmunden for the pottery or take a train ride up the Schafberg.
