|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Escape to this spacious 3 floor chalet in a secluded setting with no neighbors in the front, back or on either side. This property is used by the Owner and his family 'frequently' so it has many nice touches that you wouldn't normally find in a rental property, making it the right rental for families, couples, and for romantic retreats. This is not the rental for young groups of friends looking to get rowdy (minimum age to rent is 25). This is an 'All' seasons rental that features 4 bedrooms (which includes the huge sleeping loft) to accommodate 8 adults/children very comfortably*. For those who love the outdoors and want a getaway from the business of life, this is the place for you. This home offers a breathtaking view of nature from the large wraparound deck. There is nothing to interrupt this picture perfect view, however, a short walk allows you to swim at the community lakes, play tennis (at the professional courts redone in 2012), socialize at the clubhouse, or even ski at the community ski slope. This is the best of both worlds...a quiet getaway that is close to many amenities. Smoking is NOT permitted inside the house.
1ST FLOOR layout: there is a separate family room on the 1st floor to watch TV, listen to the full stereo (CD & cassette & Ipod docking station), shoot some pool or play foosball. There is also a bar area to enjoy a cocktail (or 2 or 3...) and a pub table with stools...for that friendly pub look. There is a new ceramic tile floor throughout and this floor has a full bathroom!
2ND FLOOR layout: this is the MAIN Floor with new hardwood floors and a Cathedral ceiling with exposed wood beams giving it the real chalet look and feel. It offers warmth and coziness with its open floor plan between the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Living room has a large ceiling fan, gas fireplace and a leather sofa & loveseat. Walk out to a large wraparound deck with two exit points. The 2ND full bathroom is on this floor as well as the 3 Bedrooms(two with Full beds and one with 2 twin beds); all the Bedrooms have ceiling fans!
3RD FLOOR layout: HUGE loft (the 4th bedroom) with King bed, ceiling fan PLUS a futon (to sleep 4). This is a beautiful warm and cozy room to lie down in bed and watch the view from the wall of windows in the front of the home; it's great to watch the snow falling in the winter. And if you have little kids that need to be close by at night, the futon comes in real handy.
The home also has all of the modern conveniences you are accustomed to at your own home, that includes: dishwasher, refrigerators, microwave, TVs(2), DVD/VCR player, CD/cassette Stereo, and an Ipod docking station. There is also a gas fireplace for the beauty of a real fire without the hassle of loading the wood! The home also features a home security system that is monitored 24x7. Home is within walking distance to East Lake and Pilgrim Lake. East Lake is one of the larger swimming lakes with Lifeguards (for the summer months) and tennis courts across the street.

For activities, you can't beat Locust Lake Village. The village is a 4-season community with 24x7 security, 5 lakes, 3 stocked with fish, 3 with playgrounds, beaches and lifeguards. The fishing is excellent, named one of the best by the Gaming Commission. For the athletes, there is a baseball field, basketball court, tennis court, shuffleboard and bocce ball. And for those wishing to learn to ski or who have small children just starting, we have our own T-bar lift and lodge! During summer our full-time recreational department offers various fun activities for children and adults. They include arts & crafts, ceramics, softball games, tennis and swimming lessons, water games, pet shows, ice cream socials, cook-out/campfire nights, bingo, family movie nights, and organized trips. Village activities are available after obtaining 'renters badges' from the office for a small fee. Only 15 minutes to either Camelback or Jack Frost/Big Boulder where you can enjoy snow tubing, snowboarding, skiing, skating, and snowmobiling.
* All inquiries should include the # of adults & children (& age of children). Note that the # of guests is in the contract and is VERIFIED DURING YOUR STAY so please be honest to avoid high penalties [or the possibility of forfeiting your rental payment]. Larger parties may be considered at the discretion of the owner (additional fees would be applied).
Welcome to the Leonard Mountain House. Your escape from the real world that's just around the corner. I hope you come to enjoy it and build some fond memories with family and friends.
Frank Leonard purchased this chalet in 2006
My friends and family always loved the Poconos for all year round enjoyment. Visiting this home is like being in a different world, away from all the monotony of home/work. I especially like this development with it's 5 lakes for great fishing and swimming. It is a very secure development and the people who work at LLV are extremely nice and helpfull.
We enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds this place, including lots of wildlife. The property is very private with no direct neighbors to the left, right, in front or behind the property. We are also in a location that is central to so many local attractions that offer loads of fun for all four seasons. I enjoy mornings walks on the property or sitting on the large deck sipping coffee where you only hear the birds chirp.
My friends and I have an unfortunate habit of deciding a week before major holidays that we want to get out of town. This always leaves us scrambling to find a place to rent. Frank's home in the Poconos was available and Frank was prompt in his responses. He was even willing to accommodate our potentially oversized group! The house was located within 10 minutes of a grocery store, a liquor store, a beer mart, great pizza and an amazing butcher shop, which was well suited for our plan to spend the weekend vacillating between drunk and food coma. Which we did. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back!
Some pros and cons:
-Enough beds for an eight-person group, including two single people
-Great front porch with charcoal grill
-Lots of natural light from front windows
-Nice backyard seating area with benches and table
-Large kitchen table accommodated our whole group
-Kitchen was well stocked with appliances and tools
-No nearby neighbors
-Beautiful back yard and neighborhood (fully half the group went on walks or runs because it was so nice)
-Nearby lake had activities and was a great area to spend an afternoon
-Ceiling fans in the bedrooms!
-There wasn't enough light in the living room after dark. We had a lot of crafters and board gamers in our group, and it got difficult to see our work and fight for table space in the well-lit kitchen area.
-Downstairs with pool table and additional TV was very humid, even while running the dehumidifier. We only used the space on the first night but slipped so much on the slick tile that we ended up going outside instead.
-There was a fire pit in the back yard that was expressly forbidden from use. I don't know if it was a stipulation from the owner or a local ordinance, but we would've really liked to have been able to use that.
-As we were leaving on the last day there was a distinct sewage smell from the downstairs bathroom. We hadn't had that issue the entire weekend, and it could have just been from one of the guys not admitting to a particularly pungent bowel movement, but we were concerned.
Our grandkids have been asking to go on a "camping" vacation for the longest time. After much searching we came across the "Leonard Mountain House". What a find !!
With three bedrooms, a loft, large "family" room and dining area, the cabin offered us plenty of room to roam. The first floor game room offered us many hours of fun playing pool and foose ball. [I "LET" my FIVE yr. old grandson beat me at pool many times].
We made a campfire, made Smores and told campfire stories.
My granddaughter and I brought our bikes, and because the roads are smooth and private, we went on many bike rides. GOOD TIMES.
The lakes, within Locust Lake, are nice and the "beach" area is smooth and clean.
Local attractions, such as State Parks and Lake Wallenpaupack, are a short ride away. There's lots to do in the area
Bring your family and be prepared to have a great time. WE DID - even on those days it rained,
This is a great place for a vacation. We have stayed already 3 times at Leonard Mountain House. Everyone has a different definition of vacation. For us - it’s just to get away from the city, relax in a private, comfortable place. We have tried to look for other places. But always coming back. Nice, clean, comfortable house. The house is close to everything we need: lakes/beaches/fishing at summer, skiing/tubing at winter. Kids love the place and spend hours walking in the forest around the house. The owner is a super nice guy who will take care of any issue (if any). Thanks Frank! We are looking forward to come back soon!
My family and I rented the Leonard Mountain House for our New Year's Eve celebration. The idea was to find a secluded place to get away from the commotion of daily life.
The house is neatly tucked away in the woods of the village community. The Pocono region is known to get some snow throughout winter months, and mother nature didn't disappoint! There was five inches of snow all around during our stay, which added to the awesome "Christmas Card" feel of this house. Taking a walk outside during a brisk night with snow crunching under my feet brought back some childhood memories!
The overall layout of the house is very cozy and welcoming. The pool table on the first floor was a huge hit, while the fireplace on the main level set the tone for a great evening!
Frank was very accomodating to our needs and was a pleasure to deal with when it came to arranging our stay.
My family and I stayed at the Leonard Mountain Chalet this past weekend. It was a much needed escape. We enjoyed the relaxing setting and made good use of the grill, fire pit, pool table/game room with ipod dock and played tennis, swam and played basketball at Twin lake which we could walk to. The community is friendly and well kept and we hope to return again, possibly for a ski trip next winter!!
The ambience was superb for our family weekend! House and all amenities were perfect! Close proximity to everything and owner EXTREMLY personable and easy to work with! Can't wait to go back!
