When we stayed at "Affordable Beach Penthouse" we loved our trip! Descriptions were accurate, and property was clean and well-maintained. The location is awesome, just between the beach and downtown. We parked the car in the nice parking lot provided and rode our bikes everywhere. There was a bike rack there in the parking lot and the bikes were safe there. The condo space itself is beautiful and had great amenities, but it felt very "staged" (looked just like the photos) in that we had to rearrange furniture/relocate numerous throw pillows and tchotzkes simply to be comfy in there for a week... there were knick knacks on every horizontal surface that we wanted to put our belongings down on. There are three other items the owners should consider addressing, and these are not deal breakers: the door of the laundry closet is at odds with the dryer's door and it is difficult to open the dryer- the dryer door should be installed on the left side instead, which appears to be an option. Also there is a large glass window on the door connecting the small bedroom to the patio, and there is no window covering on it. For the sake of a feeling of privacy and for light blocking we had to rig a dark sheet up over the door. (All windows in a vacation rental should be covered, especially bedroom windows in a rental well-suited to be a romantic getaway for two.) Finally and most importantly, the sofa desperately needs to be replaced. Unlike everything else nice in the space, the Victorian sofa is apparently an actual antique, which is not an issue except it smelled terribly musty ALL OVER to the point where we had to cover it to sit on it. Also the seat cushion was worn out and it did not comfortably seat two lounging people due to its very small size and its armrests. Kinda disappointing since we really liked the huge flatscreen TV. I lay on the tile floor to watch it while my husband was on the couch (no snuggling in front of this TV...). Regardless of this we would definitely stay here again but hope the owners address these issues. We left the place clean and in good shape and our deposit was refunded. We had the opportunity to walk through another rental in the same building (same owners) after meeting some other travelers. Their place featured casual, comfortable interior furnishings and would have been more comfy than our place, which was decked out upscale/oceana/shabby chic. If we go back we will be sure to look closer at the other rentals from the same owners.

With regard to the recommendation for curtains in the bedroom, we completely agree and every window has new blinds installed throughout. As this is a new property, our custom blinds had not arrived for this guests stay. With regard to the couch, it is a $3,000 antique that has been recovered and was specifcally selected to match the ambiance of the Penthouse. It is however smaller than some couches that can be purchased today. It has been cleaned since this review just to be sure there are no problems. Finally, please look at the positive comments provided by this guest, which are consistent with every other 5 star review provided. We encourage all of our potential guests to look at our competition, our reviews, pictures and pricing, to confirm that we are unmatched in location, quality and price.
