River's Edge Cabin was an outstanding place to vacation for a week. The property description and photos are very accurate. The accommodations were clean, stylish, and comfortable. We ate all meals but three for the week at the cabin. The view from the porch was outstanding. Access to the National Forest was right next to the property. Unlimited access to the Nottley River within 25 yards of the house for fly fishing. Cherokee County had great site seeing and nature to observe. Murphy was a short 15 minute drive to access groceries, restaurants, shopping, and the sporting goods stores. We met Daniel Boone (a descendent of Daniel Boone) at Appalachian Outfitters and hired him as a fly fishing guide for one day, his company is Nantahala Fly Fishing, I highly recommend starting any fly fishing week with him to get the right flies on the water. Doyle's Restaurant in Murphy had great entertainment and dining. Any questions we had about the property were quickly answered by the owners. The owners are military friendly! This house is great for a couples getaway or a family with no more than two children. We plan on another visit to this property.
Our trip to Murphy was fantastic, largely due to staying at the cabin. It is SO GORGEOUS right there on the river. The cabin is darling with everything that we needed. Very comfortable and clean. The owners were very accomodating and helpful prior to the trip, adn while we were there, the property managers were a wealth of information about things to do in the area. My family and I can't wait to return.
This is the cutest cottage and a beautiful location! We hiked, fished, and enjoyed the beautiful river that rushes by directly in front of the house. The cottage itself is darling! Clean, well furnished and decorated perfectly. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking to relax and enjoy a quiet, peaceful retreat.
We arrived at the cabin to find very dirty. The smell was very unpleasant. It didnt take long to figure out it was because there was a dead mice in the kitchen trashcan and a dead scorpian in the mixing bowl in the kitchen cabinet. There were hundreds of fruit/sewer flies hovering above the sink which we never could get rid of. Before the mouse died he chewed up toilet paper, candy wrappers, and candy and had it strewn along with his droppings all throughout the cabin, including in the couch cushions and in the bed. The dishwasher was broken, and the several of the railings on the porch were either loose or broken. The last and final straw that sent us packing early, was finding a live copperhead snake in our bed room. We have still not been given a refund for this horific experience. But we are hoping for the people who read these reviews it will help keep them safe. My suggestion is for you and your family to find someplace else to stay that is clean and safe. We have had nothing but wonderful experience with our summer trips to N.C. for the past four summers, that is until this one. I would not recommend this property to friends or relatives. The property was not clean and well maintained.
