Set in country surroundings, recently renovated Breton farmhouse offers you a chance to relax with family & friends.Ideally situated for cycling and fishing.With many original features it provides spacious accommodation. Upstairs there are 5 bedrms to sleep 10+toilet shower rm. The large kitchen/dining room has cob walls, a quarry tile floor, antique furniture, a Rayburn. Well equipped with a large fridge freezer dispensing chilled water, microwave,large 5 hob gas oven,dishwasher+4 ring hob. Adjoining, a spacious utility rm with full size table tennis table+washing machine The dining area contains a large farmhouse table+chairs. Glass doors open onto a patio with arctic spa hot tub,table+chairs this overlooks large lawns with pool+swings. The lounge with a lcd TV, UK Sat.+DVD player is comfortably furnished. Adjoining is a study/music room with full size pool table,games, piano, sofa bed and wifi broadband. Downstairs is a toilet room+seperate bath/shower room.

La Chenaie Verte-St Abraham situated 2 mins from village centre, 5 mins from the sizeable town of Malestroit with all amenities including a Thursday morning market. It is just a short bike ride to reach the Nantes-Brest canal where you can cycle along the scenic tow path for 30 mins to Malestroit or make a leisurely day of it+cycle to the beautiful medieval town of Josselin with its cobbled streets+large chateau. Its only a 5 min drive or 20 mins bike ride to reach a 53km cycle trail (voie verte) which runs from Questembert-Mauron+crosses beautiful countryside, ideal for cycling, walking+skating.We offer cheap weekly bike hire at £25 adults+£20 kids. Ploermel(10 mins)has a large lake with beach where you can hire equipment for water sports. It also has a 9 hole golf course & indoor Pool. There is easy access to the dual carriageway for a family day out on the gorgeous nearby beaches or for a shopping trip to the walled & moated town of Vannes with its harbour+many historic buildings.

What a wonderful place to stay

My wife and I spent five weeks at La Chenaie Verte from the end of April to the beginning of June 2012 and loved every minute of it. The house was great, lots of character and plenty of space for our friends who came to visit at various times. The area was idyllic after the hustle and bustle that is the south east of England. Tranquil and relaxing, no-one was in a rush, next to no traffic, peace and quiet. Having internet meant we could work there as easily as in England. The neighbours were lovely and made us feel very welcome despite our very basic grasp of the language. Particular thanks go to Marie Annick and Salvatore who look after the property for the owners. You simply could not meet two more friendly helpful and pleasant people. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We have made two great friends. The surrounding area is beautiful and as the other reviews have said there are loads of quaint medieval towns and villages withing 30 minutes drive. Josselin and Rochefort en Terre deserve special mention.
I would strongly recommend visiting Branfrere Zoo and don't miss the bird show which is pretty amazing!
We were extremely sad to have to leave and hopefully we will be able to do it all again next year!

Love France

We have stayed at the farmhouse several times now and have always had a very relaxing holiday, very quiet and surrounded by lovely countryside.
The living space in the farmhouse is amazing with lots of space for a large family/friends and the layout of the property makes it a very social place for eating/drinking etc with plenty to do inside and outside. Having the bikes is great as the cycle route is close by, wonderful cycling by the canal.
Malestroit is the closest town and has a charming market, lovely medieval architecture and very pleasant to walk around.
A visit to Josselin is worth a look too where there is a castle. Always sad to go home, but do so very chilled and relaxed!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

A wonderful month of wine and cheese...

My partner and I stayed at the farmhouse for four weeks in January and February 2011 and found it to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Brittany countryside. We spent lots of time in the house working on various projects (writing, photography) as well as honing our ping-pong and piano playing skills. We loved the layout of the kitchen and dining area (as did our respective parents when they visited) which created a really nice atmosphere when someone was cooking and others sitting at the dining table or breakfast bar. The log fire made every evening seem special and when we came to the end of our time we really didn't want to leave. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots to see and do - I'd particularly recommend the nearby Lancelot brewery - really top notch beer. Malestroit is a lovely town too - very picutresque and with just the right amount of services (supermarkets etc) to make life very easy. I'd really recommend the house and we are definitely considering going back in the future.

La chenaie verte

I really enjoyed my stay at La Chenaie, which I found charming and comfortable.

The house itself is large with rambling passageways and several activity rooms, including (I was pleased to see) a piano room. There are several double bedrooms which make it ideal for a large family or a group of friends sharing a break in Brittany.

The grounds are extensive with plenty of room for young children to run about safely and a large family pool conveniently close to the house and patio is ideal for lazy relaxing days.

The house and grounds had a calm atmosphere that enabled me to instantly feel both at home and relaxed. I felt thoroughly refreshed and rejuvenated after my short break (4 day stay) there. I will definitely be returning for a longer stay with my family again.

Many thanks to the owners who have done a lovely job restoring this farmhouse.

Five different families and not one argument!

This is the sweetest of properties and we had a wonderful time. The property was large enough and spacious enough to hold 5 different households. There was a generosity of spirit prevailing throughout which meant that we weren't on edge - great to be able to use bikes without worrying and be at home without fear of damage. There was plenty to explore in the surrounding area with both the coast and town being near by. The neighbour who looks after the property is extremely helpful and kind- even to the extent of baking us a cake to take home.
