Hamilton Estate is a private development of villas and apartments adjacent to Jolly Harbour, the premier marina, golf and leisure resort in the Caribbean, situated on the beautiful west coast of Antigua. Hamilton House stands in its own tropical garden with a large 30 feet long swimming pool and comprises four well-appointed and delightfully furnished 2-bedroom apartments.

We are situated next to the new luxury Sugar Ridge boutique hotel which offers a spa, a gym, two restaurants and sophisticated nightly entertainment. Guests staying at Hamilton Estate are welcome to use the Sugar Ridge facilities.

Jolly Beach is about a 7 minutes walk away; a long sweep of soft white sand and turquoise sea fringed by palm trees, and the entrance to the marina is also just a ten minutes walk away.

You can choose to take it easy and relax for the day, leaving our crew to take care of everything, or you can actively participate in sailing the yacht. Snorkel over coral reefs and observe the Caribbean marine life - exotic fish, rays, turtles and dolphins - or laze on deck and enjoy freshly prepared meals with a choice of drinks. To end the day, drop anchor in another secluded bay, and enjoy canapés and cocktails as the sun goes down.

Hamilton House stands at the back of the Estate behind the villas. Access to the apartment is on the ground floor at the rear of the house. The long open-plan living area of the apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of space for comfortable everyday living. An open arch leads to an inner hall accessing the bedrooms and bathrooms. The apartment features a spacious, covered veranda enjoying superb hillside views to the side and towards Jolly Harbour to the front and has a charcoal barbeque. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. French doors lead from the master bedroom and the living room directly on to the veranda and can be secured open during the day to take full advantage of the cooling breezes and glorious sunshine. The guest bedroom also has a full bathroom. Ceiling fans and air conditioning are fitted in the bedrooms and the living area. The apartment is serviced with cable television, DVD player, hi-fi, and high-speed wireless Internet connection.

Antigua is the heart and soul of the Caribbean, an exotic tropical island with an abundance of palm-fringed beaches, warm sparkling seas, English-speaking and life-loving locals, a wealth of land and water based activities, a huge choice of delicious international cuisines, and a background soundtrack of calypso and reggae. No wonder we decided to make Antigua our second home.

Wonderful family friendly vacation

This was our first trip to Antigua and we chose the perfect place to stay! The location cannot be beat. We did rent a car and got to drive to a different beach every day. Most of which were close by to the apartment. Jolly Beach was literally a minute's drive down the road and we went several times to the grocery store. Lots of restaurants were nearby as well. The pool was great for the kids with a nice mix of sun and shade. Our two bedrooms were a great size with ample size closets and dressers to fit all of our clothes and luggage in. We ate all of our meals outside on our covered porch. We loved watching all of the birds and geckos! The manager even lent us a coffee maker for the week! The washing machine was great to have as well as the dishwasher. A perfect place for a wonderful vacation!

Breakfast with the Humming Birds

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hamilton House. The apartment was every bit as good as it looks in the photographs. The rooms were spacious, clean and well furnished: the kitchen more than adequate for our needs. The veranda was a delight throughout the day: in the mornings for breakfast watching the humming birds and at twilight to review the day and plan for the next to the sounds of the tree frogs and night herons. The pool provided both a welcome end to a hard day’s exploration or the base for a lazy day at home! The location could not be improved: beaches, shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance: we tried them all and could fault none. The bus to St Johns (and connections onwards) stopped at the end of the drive. Our friends hired a car to get to the more remote parts of the island and attractions that are off the beaten track but we survived for three weeks without one. Howard ensured the booking arrangements went smoothly and Yasmine that all our needs were met.

Our stay at Hamilton Estate was outstanding! The property was exactly as pictured. The little things we usually take for granted is what made the difference for us (Internet, local phone, washing machine and 110v plugs). The landscaping was well maintained and truly added to the tranquility of the property. All staff members were cordial and helpful. Even more unforgettable was the thoughtfulness of providing refreshments. They were welcomed by us, especially since our flight arrived much later than anticipated and we were starving! I adore the location of Hamilton Estate, close enough to Jolly Harbour to enjoy the conveniences but far enough away to feel the benefit of a private estate rather than an overly congested tourist area. I would enthusiastically recommend Hamilton Estate and will book here for our next visit to Antigua.

Hamilton House, Near Jolly Harbour, Antigua

We had a wonderful stay at Hamilton House in April 2008. The property was exactly as described, spacious and of an extremely high standard. It was in an excellent position, about 5 mins walk to the local facilities. The garden surrounding the pool area were was well maintained. It would have been easy to stay in the local area as the beaches were amazing (some busy with watersports, others totally deserted) but we hired a jeep and explored the island (Nelson's Dockyard, zip-lining in the rainforest, Dickenson Bay). We also took a catamaran cruise from Jolly Harbour to Cades Reef for the day - highly recommended. I would definitely return to Hamilton House - ideal for families and couples alike. A brilliant holiday!

Hamilton Estate is situated on the Caribbean west coast of Antigua, a fifteen minutes drive to the capital St John's and twenty-minutes from the airport. The delighful setting is nestled under wooded hillsides and is just a 7 minutes walk away from Jolly Beach. The entrance to Jolly Harbour Marina and resort is also just a 10 minutes walk from Hamilton Estate. This extensive complex offers the largest and finest marina in the Caribbean and superb recreation facilities. A fine 18-hole golf course and a sports centre with swimming pool, tennis courts, and a squash court cater for the actively minded, whilst the commercial centre has a wide range of shops, restaurants, bars and a supermarket to sustain the needs for everyday living.
