Bald Eagle Cottage

We really enjoyed our break from busy city life. Visiting the hill country and central Texas is a favorite past-time of ours so we never have anything bad to say. It is heartbreaking to see two of Texas' most beautiful recreation lakes, Buchanan and Travis, in the low water level they are at currently due to the drought. We did find it very interesting to see the land at this end of the lake how it looked years ago before it was flooded to make the lake. It's also interesting to note how deep the water would be in front of Bald Eagle - a fairly shallow drop off with no timber or big rocks - a plus for swimming, boating, and fishing when the lake fills again to its normal level..
The cottage is very roomy - the master queen bed was very comfortable. We spent alot of time on the wonderful split-level deck and our dogs loved it too - it is a great place to drink morning coffee, watch the sunrise, and the hummingbirds visiting the neighbor's feeder. In fact, we were disappointed we didn't bring our hummer feeders with us - will remember that next time! We took a drive to see the bluebonnets - they were not as good this year as in years past, but still pretty to see. Fall Creek Vineyards is very close so we had to stop in and enjoy the wine tasting. The cottage and grounds are very well maintained. We hope to come back again sometime. Thanks for the detailed instructions on everything for the cottage - they are helpful.
