Poipu Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Beautiful Kiahuna Plantation is located on world-renown Poipu Beach. Enjoy strolling through 35 acres of tropical paradise with gardens of graceful orchids and unusual cactus. The buildings are plantation style with louver shutters on the windows and ceiling fans circulating the ocean breeze throughout the condo.

Our condo, #167 located in Building 26, is a ground floor, end unit with partial ocean view and a semi-private lanai, a one-minute walk to the ocean! Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while dining in or grill dinner on one of the two barbecues next to the lagoon just steps away. The beach hut, which supplies towels, chairs and snorkeling equipment to rent is also just a one minute walk from the condo. There are several golf courses and many restaurants within walking distance.

We are members of the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Our guests have full access to the club including the pool with slide, tennis courts and workout equipment at no extra charge! The pool was recently renovated and the equipment is all new in 2014.

We keep the condo up to date. New in 2010: Cabinet doors and drawers and knobs. New in 2011: Flooring and upholstery in the living and dining area and new carpeting in the bedroom. New in 2012: California king mattress in bedroom, refrigerator, range, microwave, dishwasher, some small appliances, queen-sized high quality memory foam mattress for pull-out sofa.

Kauai is a nature lovers dream! Spouting Horn is a natural phenomena just 2.5 miles away from Kiahuna Plantation. Enjoy a scenic drive up Waimea Canyon and take in the sweeping views of the Na Pali coast. There are many wonderful places to snorkel on the island, including right in front of the resort. Surfing, boogie boarding, and body surfing are also right there. Hiking trails are numerous on the island as well. The Heritage Trail is right in front of Kiahuna. Follow it north to the Hyatt where just beyond you can enjoy a peaceful walk over lithified dunes. It is also a great place to whale-watch December-April.

Guests at our Kiahuna Plantation condo have 24 hour care from the on-site management service. Come and relax in paradise!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just ended our 9 day stay at Kiahuna and so appreciated your condo on this little piece of heaven. We (family of four) were very comfortable here as we celebrated my in-laws 45th anniversary and it was first family vacation with our 3 year old twin girls. My favorite experience was something my twins got to experience and that was swimming with the Honus (sea turtles). We hope to come here again soon.

A perfect Hawaiin condo

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this condo last month and we were very happy with it. The location was great, just a very short walk to the beach. My wife was 7 months pregnant at the time so the walk to Poipu beach took a bit of energy out of her so we would drive to it and I think it took us longer to pack the car than it actually did to get to the beach. The condo had all of the kitchen items you could possibly want and the closet had a lot of beach equipment that was very nice to be able to use. We overheard other people talking and it doesn't sound like all the units are nearly as stocked as this one.

Private and Relaxing Time

What a wonderful week! Your home is just what I want on a Hawaiian vacation. Beautifully appointed with gorgeous kitchen, baths, wood floors, and lots of island art. I loved the "old Hawaii" feel. I think the very best part was the private feeling of your lanai, very close to the beach and yet a chance to get away from the hustle bustle of the great lawn when you want. I loved the fact that the beach is so close and easy to go back and forth. There is so much to do and explore on the island, and so much beauty right there on the property with the cactus garden, orchid garden and all the plant life and birds. I thank you for sharing your beautiful home with me!

My daughter and I have booked a total of 7 stays over the years in this condo. and we have never been disappointed. There is always something new in the condo from one stay to the next that was renovated or added or changed to upgrade the look. This year it was the flooring, which is great. The kitchen is equipped with everything I need and we never run out of hot water. It is so fabulous that without air conditioning we are always very comfortable, never too hot or cold. The grounds are nothing short of spectacular, immaculately maintained and so pleasant to stroll through. We have taken hundreds of pictures of the orchids garden, the plumeria blooms and birds of paradise flowers. I especially appreciate the quiet environment, whether in the condo or on the beach. The location is so practical because it is close to outdoor markets, quaint shops and the very best shave ice of the entire island. I have recommended this particular condo to many friends knowing they will not be disappointed and will even enjoy it beyond their expectations.

Ideal island retreat

  • 5 of 5

I could not be happier about this perfect location and charming condo for our yearly trip to Kauai. The condo is beautifully maintained and tastefully decorated, comfortable and with all the amenities necessary for a week-long stay. The condo clearly reflects the personal touch of the owners, and that care and attention also extends to the prompt and personalized reservation process with them. The grounds around the condo are impeccable, with the expansive orchid gardens a short walk away an absolute must-see. The beach is a stone's throw away, offering a long beach of immaculate sand and enough space so that you're not towel-to-towel with other sunbathers. And while you could easily spend an entire week on this gorgeous beach, the central location of this condo means that the hundreds of things to do in Kauai are only a short distance away; everything from Puka Dogs across the street (I could eat these everyday), to charming tapas-style restaurants with excellent drinks a little farther away, to beaches, hikes and swimming holes farther afield. Mary knows this island inside out and loves to share her knowledge with her guests, making her an invaluable resource when planning your travel. I have stayed at this condo every year for the past six years, and would never dream of staying anywhere else. We are already planning our next visit!

We expected the unit to be more comfortable from the reviews we'd read. We unfortunately woke up with back aches every morning. The mattress was soft and lumpy and the pillows hard as rocks. The units are close together at this location and if you have loud neighbors don't expect to sleep until they do. We also had a problem with mice. We reported it to the management company and they told us they've had numerous complaints from others in the complex. They didn't seem too concerned. So don't leave any food out whatsoever or it will be eaten. Overall the unit needs some TLC. Rust on appliances, light burned out on fridge. Lack of amenities in regard to kitchen. Didn't compare to unit we rented week before in Princeville with extra bedroom and bath with better accomodations and amenities. And for considerably less.

On the plus side the unit was close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. The grounds of the Kiahuna Plantation are very attractive.

I would only recommend the unit to those who are sound sleepers and like to go out to restaurants as the kitchen has serious limits.

Owner's Response: We're disappointed that you are disappointed! We take pride in our condo and work hard to keep it up to date. The mattress is not yet a year old and we have only heard great reviews about it (in fact one guest wanted to know the brand to buy for her own home). As far as the noise, Kiahuna has a curfew of 10:00 and usually it is very quiet after that. The fridge light is an easy fix and why we have on site management but someone would need to let either us or the management know so that we could call maintenance. The refrigerator does have some small rust spot. We are close to the salt water and consequently rust happens fairly quickly but is hardly a reason to replace a refrigerator that is working well and not very old. Never the less, we will certainly keep that in mind when we review what needs to be taken care of on our next visit. As for the mice, we have contacted management and they have assured us they will look into it. Kauai is a warm tropical island and it is best to not leave food on counters or leave open trash as an invitation. We will be sure to add that to our info packet. We are sorry that the condo didn't meet your expectations but do wish you had called us or the management during your stay so that we could address your concerns.

Like to thank you for a wonderful stay

in your condo. Very comfortable and in a

great location. We found it relaxing and

peaceful and best of all so close to the

beach (about a 1 minute walk).

The fresh air that moves through the

condo keeps it comfortable and it feels

very private too. Also appreciated the

beach chairs, umbrella, and boogie board

you provided. The Weber gas barbeque

grills at the lagoon work great, they're

close and convenient. We used them 2

nights. We had a great time and hope to

stay there again some day.
