Villa Hermione is situated overlooking the popular Cretan village of Plaka with views of Souda Bay to the front. To the east is a good view of Drapanos Mountain. The villa is a 6-minute walk from the village square where you will find a number of tavernas and bars, as well as two mini markets. The nearest beach at Almirida is a 5-minute drive, from which you can sail, windsurf and kayak. The beautiful Venetian harbour town of Chania is approx 23km to the west. The villa is detached, 2-bed, 2-bathroom, part of a small development with 3 other villas sharing a pool. It is just a few steps to the pool (via a lockable gate) through the walled garden. Bed settee in lounge. Air con in both bedrooms and lounge. Both beds, one double and one twin bed, lead to a terrace. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. Fully fitted kitchen with microwave, oven, etc. Satellite TV and DVD player. Open plan living/dining area. Covered terrace on ground floor. Both terraces have table and chairs.

Plaka is situated above the seaside resort of Almirida (about a 5-minute drive). Plaka has 2 mini-markets, 3 tavernas and 2 bars. The next village along is Kokkino Chorio which, together with Plaka, featured in the classic film 'Zorba the Greek'. Above Kokkino Chorio is the tiny church of St. George, which is alongside the entrance to the 'German' caves. These caves were used during WWII as a lookout post across Souda Bay. The nearby village of Gavalohori features a folk museum.

A paradise in the sun

We were looking for a chilled out holiday at our pace with all the luxuries but no stress. Villa Hermione was just the ticket. It was relaxing with the villa close to essential ammenities and good restaurants within walking distance but had the idyllic draw of being secluded. In fact, we had the pool to ourselves during our stay! The Villa was extremely clean and had all the ammenities of a 5 star villa. It was very comfortable and felt like home immediately that we unpacked and the views from the balconies over to the sea were so picturesque and relaxing.
I hate it to sound that we didnt make the most of the holiday, we did go to the beach at Almerida and visited the Ancient ruins at Aptera and the quaint harbour at Chania which were all a small drive away. However, the most important thing for us was just the ability to do as much or as little as you wanted and we loved our relaxing holiday at Villa Hermione. We will definately be booking it again in the future.

Beautiful house in a real Kretian village

Villa hermione is a lovely house situated a little bit up an mountain which gives it a nice breece though it may be really hot.There is a nice little wind all the time, so the heat was enjoyable in stead of being unbearable.

The house was very practically and kept in ligth and nice colours. it was also very well kept and very clean. It had everything you just need for a nice holiday.And the pool was nice and clean all the time.

The way the house was made and were it was situated was just the best. One really get to experience the real Crete staying there. We would love to come back another time.

Relaxing Break in Plaka

We had a fantastic 2 weeks away. The villa was lovely, very spacious, comfortable and had everything you need. It was very clean and the garden is lovely - very well looked after. The pool was brilliant - swam every day! The area is beautiful, fantastic views and it is so peaceful and the people are so friendly. The beach is not far at all and the sea is beautiful - so clear and warm. Weather also lovely - blue sky every day!

Would definitley think about returning, this was a lovely break away.
