I just want to tell you that everything was fine! The house is spatious and clean, and we felt comfortable about staying there. The Burren is a fantastic landscape, and it was great to be right there!

A nice holidayhome with rainy conditions

We arrived in the holidayhome of Anna with a weatherforecast of 5 rainy and stormy days, so our mood wasn´t at its best, but after our arrival we felt like home. Fresh Flowers on the table in the kitchen was more than a warm welcome, very nice furnished room, a brilliant location with sea view and everything clean and cosy, thank you very much. They also thought of the very petty little things like briketts (we needed them), salt, sugar, kitchen facilites for the dish washer etc.. Very handy. The shop is only a stonethrow away opposite O´Donoghous? pub, well equipped. The beach (we have already known it from our last stay) is in walking distance (15 minutes) or a short drive by car (3-5 minutes). Other sightseeing like Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee Cave and more needs a half-day trip. Though the heavy rain and storm we felt warm and comfortable in their house, to make fire was my sons tribute each day. At the end we were lucky and the weather cleared up and we had 2 wonderful and warm days nearby the beach.

Anniversary & Birthday Celebration

Anniversary & Birthday Celebration

For our 37th anniversary and my son's & daughter in law's, we decided a trip to Ireland would be ultimate celebration. The cottage was perfect--clean, modern, roomy enough for 4 adults, comfortable beds, and a well-equipped kitchen. The location was ideal, between the Cliffs of Moher and Galway City with great little towns, shops, pubs, restaurants in between. The beach was a little jaunt on a lovely country road surrounded by stone-walled fields filled with horses, cows, donkeys and sheep. We even had a cute spaniel type dog that greeted us every morning (the cookies helped). We loved being able to walk to the pub for fresh fish & chips and Guinness on tap. We also were able to catch a bus at the local shop that took us to Galway City so we didn't have to drive. In fact. the only negative of our entire trip was the driving. My advice (if you are driving) rent a small automatic car!

Other than the driving, my hubsband and I (early 60's) and our son & daughter in law (age 26) all found the west coast of Ireland, the activities, the sights, and the lovely cottage to be the best holiday ever.

Fantastic getaway on beautiful Burren

I stayed in this property in July 2009 with my family that consists of myself and my wife and three children aged 4, 2 and 4 months. This property and the Fanore area is ideal for anyone with a young family. Within walking distance is a shop/post office, restaurant and family friendly pub. Two minutes in the car gets you to a fantastic sandy beach. The beach is easily accessed from the free car park which has a toilet, shower and has a life guard patrol. The property is comfortable and has everything you need with great views of the sea and Galway bay. There are two fire places, a TV, DVD and CD player, dish washer and washing machine/dryer - there's even an interesting selction of CD's to keep you entertained. Electricity is paid for via a metre (2 euros), it is very reasonable and seemed to be good value. We were made to feel welcome by the local representative and the friendlly neighbours. The surronding area is beautiful - the drive along the coast road from Ballyvaughan to Fanore is breathtaking. There is loads to do which is easily accessible via car in Co Clare and Co Galway - although we spent alot of our time in the local beach. We had a fantastic holiday and our only regret was that we could not stay longer.

Excellent Getaway!

Submitted: November 29, 2008 Stayed: September 2008
My husband and I stayed a week here in September and had a wonderful time. John and Anna, the owner's, could not have been more accommodating (thank you so much for going above and beyond) and were so patient with a such a pain of a Yank! Eileen, the caretaker, was so friendly and helpful and truly respected our privacy! We may not stay here when we come back (only because we didn't get to see other parts of Ireland) but we definitely recommend Sonas to anyone wanting a clean, comfortable, quiet, quaint and friendly place with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands. Be sure to see the Cliffs of Moher from above and below and eat seafood chowder everywhere you go!
