La Roc Bruyère has offered a lovely setting to guests from all over the world for over 6 years. A two-storey stone house built in the Provencal style, it is set in a large garden planted with olive, cherry and apricot trees. The 9.5 x 4.5 metre pool has a jet-stream for serious swimmers, a balneotherapy or jacuzzi feature, sunbeds at the poolside for sunbathers, and a pool house with a shower and toilet. It is also protected from the mistral winds by a low wall. The terrace at the back of the house is shaded with foliage and has outdoor tables and a barbecue, making it ideal for dinner out by the pool. The well-kept garden has plenty of shady spots under the trees. All of this, a mere few hundred yards from the lovely, unspoiled medieval village of St Saturnin les Apt.
Things to do: Visiting all the local markets can keep you busy every morning of the week, and help you (re)discover the tastes, flavors and fragrances of Provence. At Saint Saturnin les Apt, market day is Tuesday morning. If you like shopping for antiques and bric-a-brac, the town of L'Isle sur Sorgue, a few kilometres away, is France's antiques capital. The renown villages of Gordes, Roussillon, and many others, are all within 30 mns to an hour drive of Saint Saturnin. You'll have at your disposal countless numbers of walks and cycling promenades in the 120 000 ha of the Luberon Park. Day trips to Avignon, Saint Tropez, La Camargue, Arles, Aix en Provence, Orange, St Remy en Provence, Les Baux de Provence, Nimes, Arles, Marseille, etc.
Culture, Cuisine and Wine Tasting: Most villages around have excellent restaurants. You will find a Guide Michelin at your disposal at the villa and many more recommendations, to help you select the best ones around. The area also produces excellent wines and you can go wine tasting in the cool shade of the regions' caves. During the summer months, the whole area offers numerous open air cultural festivals of music (from opera to world music, from jazz to classical) theater and dance. You'll also be able to enjoy and admire the gorgeous light of Provence which attracted so many artists over the years (Cezanne, Picasso, Pissaro, Braque, to name just a few.)
We are a United Nations family hailing from France, Spain, the US and the Caribbean and we wanted a base for our children to be acquainted with part of their heritage, and for us to retire, later on. Saint-Saturnin les Apt and the area have fulfilled all our expectations, and some more. We love spending time there, and we always hate having to leave. Year after year, we discover new villages nearby, and the beauty of the area never ceases to enchant us.

The property has the great advantage of being very close to the village, in a residential area where most people are locals, and yet, once inside La Roc Bruyere, you could easily forget that you're not alone in the world. It is quiet, peaceful, secluded, and our children can spend entire days playing in the swimming pool or running around the garden. This is not a house set in a complex filled with similar properties for rent. And the house is pretty, bright, and very functional. You just have to arrive, unpack, and you can start relaxing.
The village of Saint Saturnin les Apt offers the great advantage of being in a fantastic location to discover Luberon, with its gorgeous countryside and all the villages which are within easy distance. And yet, it is not known, so it doesn't get overly crowded like nearby Gordes or Roussillon. And it is beautiful, with some truly lovely walks at our doorstep.
We liked your house very much, it was really convenient, the kitchen well-equipped, the barbecue ready for use (also charcoal at hand!), very nice pool with evening lights and everything had a feeling of home. We even found some delicious figs on the trees. Also the local brochures and guidebooks were most helpful, thanks for leaving them at our disposal. The neighborhood is beautiful, all the main attractions in Luberon like Roussillon, Gordes and Rustrel are close to Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt. I can highly recommend your villa to all families and we hope to come back in the future.
My family and my parents have rented the villa twice. First time in October 2013 where we had the most fantastic weather and 2nd time this summer. We really felt in love with the house and the surrounding. The house have this homely felling and atmosphere. It has 3 bed rooms (2 on first flor and a master on the ground floor), 2 bathrooms, it easily fits 2 families of 4 if the kids sleeps in one room. The house is spacious with a big living room with a fire place, a patio with sliding doors opening on to a covered terrace and a very spacious pool area. There is a very large garage with a washing mashing. The kitchen has a new dishwasher, stove and a large fridge/freezer with an ice cube maker. There is all the utilities you need including French press, milk former, espresso maker, micro wave, brand new weber for BBQ evenings by the pool. The house has a large pool that our kids basically lived in. It has a turbo jet, so you can actually get a good swim swimming against the current it makes. There is also a pool house. The house is placed in the middle of the plot, so the kids had lots of fun riding their bikes around the house, also you can drive up to the front door with your luggage or groceries. The sightseeing in the area is fantastic. Lots to see and do in the little village Saint Saturnin Les-Apt. Short and long hikes, bike routes and local cafės, Restaurants, bakery and even a small skate ramp 5 min walk from the house. The French Colorado in Rustrel is amazing and so is Apt and the weekend marked shops. Yes ;0) we love the place and will rent it again this spring/summer or fall.
This is in addition to my previous review - it appears that for some reason it was recorded as one star - this is totally INCORRECT! This villa is definitely in the 5 star rating as far as I am concerned.
Next year (2011) will be our third holiday at this lovely villa. It's location is perfect, close enough to walk to the historic village, but far enough away for peace and tranquility. The villa is very comfortable, with a proper kitchen and all the rooms are cool but bright. The pool is an added bonus. There is only one thing missing that would make it perfect - a pool cover. This would help to retain the warmth of the water and also save the leaves from getting into the pool when its breezy. That said, the villa is, without doubt, the best we have ever rented.
This is a very nice well maintained property with an excellent pool and a very friendly and accommodating owner. The property has all the mod cons necessary and has ample supplies of cutlery, crockery and glassware. The village of St. Saturnin is also lovely and there are many hiking opportunities right on the doorstep. The property is also in a great position with all the most interesting parts of the Luberon easily reachable with out too much of a drive.
My kids loved the pool and, unlike some other properties, it is close to the house so you can always keep an eye on them.
We (four adults) have just returned from this wonderful villa. Every need is catered for. I can honestly say that in 5 years of visitng Provence this has been the best holiday villa we have rented. The villa is in a truly peaceful spot, yet within easy walking distance of the interesting village with plenty of bars and restaurants. The pool was so necessary! And got plenty of use. Beds, towels and bed linen are of excellent quality. The photos and description do not do it justice. The owners are extremely friendly and most helpful. Would definitely like to return in the future.

The authentic village of Saint Saturnin les Apt, in the heart of the Parc Naturel Regional du Luberon, is nestled along the base of a long, low cliff, with two 17th century windmills and the ruins of a medieval château keeping watch. Walking through the central streets, you'll discover beautiful old houses adorned with sculptured porches and intricately decorated doors and window frames. Excellent pastries and breads are available at the local boulangerie/patisserie, and other provisions can be picked up at the grocery stores. There are several restaurants, cafes, and bars in the village. A visit to the open market is essential, where local produce, cheeses, meats, and flowers are available. There is a public swimming pool (should you tire of our own private pool) and a tennis court, and a lovely lake offering activities for children in the summer, nearby. There are wonderful walks or cycling promenades in the surrounding hills and the area abounds with charming villages like Gordes, Roussillon, Saignon, Bonnieux and more, many of them seen in the Peter Mayle film starring Russel Crowe 'A Good Life.' This is a private property, not a house in a complex built for tourists where houses practically touch each other, as in a complex that sprouted in the area, a few years ago.
Other Activities: village markets, wine tasting, antiques capital of Isle sur Sorgue, the magic of Fontaine du Vaucluse, kayaking, and much more than you can possibly do. We have been going there for 7 years and are yet to exhaust all there is to see and do.

The rental rate is all inclusive in June, July, August and September: all utilities, weekly cleaning, weekly maintenance of the swimming pool and its equipment.
In May, and October, guests can decide whether they would like the pool to be opened for them - if they do, the rate then becomes the June/September rate.
25 per cent of the rental fee is requested to secure the reservation. Balance is due one month prior to arrival date.
We ask a refundable Security Deposit of 250 Euros, and a Child Security Deposit of 250 Euros when there are children in a party. This is due with the balance.
Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (EUR) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.
