4 bedroomed cottage right in the middle of East Looe, close to beach and harbour

Right in the heart of Looe sits Foam Cottage. Just one minute from the beach and harbour and about 5 seconds to the nearest shop and pub, this larger than average fisherman’s cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy everything in this friendly fishing village. Foam Cottage has been tastefully modernised including central heating, whilst retaining the character and features of a typical Cornish fisherman’s cottage. It makes a very comfortable family home for a holiday by the sea for up to 6 people.

Foam Cottage is larger than most traditional cottages in Looe. Built around 1860 (we think), it fronts onto Higher Market Street while the back door opens onto a sunny and secluded courtyard, decked with flowers. Actually this courtyard is also a street, but there are so few cars, you tend to forget that! The tall window spanning two floors fills the cottage with light. The rooms have extra height too so 6 footers won’t have to stoop for every doorway. Ground Floor: The ground floor is open plan with a lounge, dining area and kitchen. There is a dining table for up to 6, plus 3 armchairs, satellite TV, video & DVD players. The central heating is topped up with a gas fire in the lounge. First floor: Bedroom 1 front facing, with double bed, washbasin, shaver point, and space for a travel cot. Bedroom 2 rear facing, with bunks, washbasin, shaver point. Toilet with small handwash basin. Second Floor: Bedroom 3, front facing, 4’ double bed, washbasin, shaver point, built in cupboards.

Occupancy: Although there are four bedrooms, we limit the occupancy in the cottage to not more than 6 people, otherwise you’ll find it a bit of a squash in the living room and a queue for the bathroom. Linen: Duvets, pillows and all bed linen are provided, but you will need to bring towels, tea-towels etc. Fuel: Foam Cottage is centrally heated throughout and all gas and electricity costs are included in the price. The oven is gas. Pets: Sorry – we are not able to accept any pets in the cottage. No Smoking: In the interests of the majority of our guests we have made Foam Cottage a non-smoking home.

i have just spent a week at foam cottages with my family my youngest being blind the cottage has a warm and homely feel to it mr and mrs flemming were very helpfull parking is a problem but its a beautifull walk back through the town the bedrooms are very comftable lounge also very comftable a very lovely holiday cottage would recomend to ant family

We loved the cottage, and the location was great, although the pub in front was quite loud on Saturday night! We were very pleased with it, overall, and were especially happy with how helpful our hosts were with everything we needed.

Looe has life and bustle to it throughout the year. As an operating fishing village, boats come and go in the harbour daily while the restaurants and pubs cater as much for the locals as for tourists. The natural lived-in feel is very welcoming whether you come in winter or summer. Looe is in two parts; East Looe has most of the shops, pubs and restaurants, plus the beach, the active harbour side and probably 80% of the life of the village. West Looe is quieter, but very pretty. A bridge links the two parts or you can take a ferry across the river when the tide is in.

For families, the beach is perfect; soft sand at the top of the beach and masses of flat sand when the tide goes out for games or castle building. Cross the Khyber Pass into the next bay and you have another beach with rock pools and smugglers caves to explore. The Cornish coast path stretches away from Looe in both directions and there are lovely cliff top walks.
