Spacious 200 year old Farmhouse, & attached Barn. recently renovated, and furnished with luxury french furniture. Surrounded by rolling countryside, a nature lovers paradise, uninterrupted views from the house, barn and garden, providing the perfect setting for that relaxing stress free holiday. Furnished and equipped to a very high standard, to complement the charactor features, through out the property. every room has its orginal oak beams, 2 working fireplaces. The huge barn has a mezzaine area, which is cool and quiet, where you can read, play games or cards, keep fit with the gym equipment, or use the play station. Table tennis table and lots of garden games are also supplied. The large 10m x 6m private heated pool, has walk in roman steps, good for both young and old, by the pool you have a summer kitchen, with sink, worktops, fridge, BBQ, and table and chairs for 12. You have 2 patios in front of the house, both with tables and chairs, all make great alfresco dining area.

9 Bikes are provided, to fit all ages, complete with helmets, locks, rusksacks etc. There are Cycle trails in the village. Plenty of canoeing locally, great fun for all the family. The Local golf club also has tennis and a bar serving snacks. Chalais has public tennis courts, small sports center. internet cafe, lots of a variety of shops, doctors, chemists, banks, cafe, supermarkets, a large outdoor swimming pool with diving boards, and a large horse arena, with a show every summer. Chalais has a large Monday market, and the Riberac market on Fridays is also very popular. Jet Sking and Quad Biking is only a 15 min drive. Aubeterre has the river with picnic tables, very popular with families for canoeing, and kayaking, restaurants, craft shops and the famous monolithe church built in the rocks.   • The rental cost covers a full clean before your arrival, all beds made up with first class, sheets, pillows, duvets, and bedspreads. Good Quality Towels supplied for all bathrooms, kitchen and cloakroom, (but NOT Pool Towels). and Every Bathroom has a Hair Dryer. The Pool can be Heated at a cost of £70 per week, if required. The use of the Summer Kitchen/ Fridge/BBQ. and all electric costs, (except the pool heating) included in the price..

    Arrival time is 4pm and departure time is 10am. There maybe an allowance on these times, outside of the school holidays, but only with the owners permission, depending on the time of year, and the bookings before or after your stay. If you require additional cleaning during your stay, this can be arranged if booked in advance with the owner, and paid for locally.
    Chalais town is 4 klm away, and has everything you may need, decent supermaket, chemists, banks, newsagents, shops, deli's, boulanger's, shops. cafe, doctors, hairdressers, take-away.

Notes: The house and barn are non smoking areas, but you can smoke outside, ashtrays are provided. The Summer Kitchen by the pool, with fridge, BBQ, sink and stainless steel worktops, tables and chairs. Plus the Patios outside the house amd barn also have tables, chairs and umbrellas. so plenty of space for alfresco dining, and all with wonderful views. The pool area is fully fenced as to comply with French law, there are plenty of sun loungers, chairs, umbrellas and side tables around the pool. The large garden has a badmingtom net, and there are lots of outdoor games to play, fruit trees in the orchard, to pick when in season. The rest of the large garden is laid to rough grass.

6 bedrooms, All bedrooms have fitted air con units. beautifully furnished, 4 have double beds, 1 has twin beds, the barn bedroom has super kingsize sleigh bed. + a day bed in master bedroom. There are 5 bathrooms. A Family bathroom, with double marble sinks, 4 bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms, all are fully tiled, have heated towel rails, and hair dryers are supplied. All top class linen / bedding and bathroom towels used, you only need to bring your pool towels. The huge ktichen has an island with seating, range style cooker. fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave. Sat TV/DVD/VCR. Slow cooker. Pressure Cooker, all utensils required to cook and eat any type of meal. Large table, seating for 12, baby highchair, toddlers seat, + 2 sofas so you can chat while cooking, and a wood burning stove. Off the hallway you have a utility room with washing machine, iron etc. and a cloakroom. The lounge has comfortable seating, antique furniture, Open fire, Sat TV with DVD/VCR/Stereo system.

We had a really lovely and relaxing time at Chez Gody. The accommodation was lovely and lacked for nothing, excellent attention to detail. We had Great weather and the cool kitchen was a welcome respite. we explored bits of the Charente-Angouleme was memorable, as was Aubeterre and the market in Chalais. Our 5 year old loved the flowers in the garden. e all loved the pool, with its views across rolling hills, and the chimes from the chruch at Yviers wafting the on warm breeze. We fell in love with this little bit of France, and may well come back next year.

We had a fantastic holiday, and with great weather. Chez Gody is an amazing gite. fully equipped for everyone's needs. Value for money excellent. Our 3 families are sorting out dates so we can return for 2 weeks next July August 2010. A wonderful Holiday.

Beats all expectations

Well, when I booked Chez Gody I thought it looked good on the web site but it is nothing compared to when you see it in reality. Stunning property, stunning views, lots and lots of space. 13 of us stayed at this property and we did not feel like we were on top of each other, to find a property that has all but one bedroom with en suite facilities is very rare, also with double beds. The kitchen had everything you needed and more, the large converted barn was a wonderful relaxing place with lots of magazines to read and chill out to. The gym was good although did not use myself, but again an additional feature. The quiet room was lovely after the hot sunny day to just sit and cool down it, especially in the comfy leather chairs. DVD's, videos books, games all present, had it rained we would not have been short of things to do. The fact that there were toys for the children like little push chairs we had actually brought all four children their own pushchairs but they did like the ones at the house also.

The pool was lovely and warm, this is where we spent most of our days, the fact that it is not too deep and you can touch the floor all the way across we found was a bonus, as our toddlers are all learning to swim we were able to walk with them round the pool. There were plenty of tables and chairs to sit and eat at, the bbq was brilliant and cooked many a good meal for us. I can go on about the views but you really need to see them for yourselves. I have no hesitation about recommending this property and will definately be going back. The supermarket is literally ten minutes away and has everything you need, Chalais has a market on a monday which is great for fruit and veg, there are butchers, delicatessants, without having to travel far. I am not able to comment on the area very much as we did not go very far as the house had everything we needed and the children were more than happy to stay at the house for the day. The property was very clean when we arrived even though we arrived a bit early, you can book in from 4pm. The management company were lovely and very helpful. I cannot say enough about this property, many thanks for letting us stay.
