Just a short note to say how much we enjoyed our week in your gite. The website undersells it on space, peacefulness and location. We had a lovely time and the set up was perfect with plenty of comfortable beds , great dining spaces (inside and out) and a superb pool. We were fortunate that the other guests had kids around the same age as both of ours (5 and 14) so they formed little playgroups from day one.
I would also like to mention how helpful and welcoming (especially when we turned up at 9pm on the first day!) Tony and Erica were. They were always there if needed, but otherwise very unobtrusive. If we had one comment, it would be that wi-fi access would be a great addition. We all find it hard to be away from work totally for two weeks and I went to McDonalds more in a week than I had in my entire lifetime!
I will highly recommend your places to family and friends and we will certainly contact you when we plan to return to this area.
5 mins away is the village Loulay, which offers many amenities including a pharmacy, 2 boulangerie’s, a tobacconist and a co-op. Loulay is also home to the nearest bar, Les Moutons Noir, which provides everyday eating and a Friday music night (No food Sat or Sun day).
In St-Jean D'Angély, only 10 mins away, you will find a tourist information centre, railway station, hospital, bars and restaurants.
St-Jean is an historic market town, with a 12th century Abbey, beautiful lakes, and cobbled streets. There’s a tranquil boating lake, situated in a park with a childrens play area. There’s crazy golf, you can fish, hire a pedalo, kayak or canoe, or relax with a drink on an afternoon. Near the lake is Atlantys aquatic centre offering indoor swimming with water slide and baby pool. When the evening comes, why not enjoy a serene meal at a lake side restaurant.
St Jean has a twice weekly market (Wed and Sat). There are shops, supermarkets, boulangerie’s, and even a go-karting track.
