COTSWOLDS - PEACEFUL LUXURY CHARACTER COUNTRY COTTAGE RETREAT

Moreton in Marsh Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom/2 bathroom Cotswolds cottage with garden on private historic estate

Uniquely situated on the former Cotswolds estate of the Spencer-Churchill family, Summer Cottage is surrounded by 35 acres of formal gardens, rose gardens, ponds and parkland of this private estate which has featured on the BBC programme 'Escape to the Country' several times. The perfect place to unwind and 'get away from it all', for a romantic break or for touring the Cotswolds and surrounding area. Walkers, cyclists, artists, photographers, bird watchers, history buffs, gardeners and wildlife enthusiasts will love this tranquil idyll and exclusive location. Having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, spacious luxury living accommodation and a sun-trap private cottage garden and separate courtyard this cottage conversion is perfect for 2 couples sharing or for families. Shops, restaurants, RHS gardens, National Trust properties, pubs, tourist attractions, and beautiful Cotswold villages are nearby, and the larger centres of Cheltenham, Stratford upon Avon, Oxford are all easily reached.

Stunning and unique location: Approached over a long private drive through the estate, Summer Cottage has splendid views of the 17th century mansion house once owned by the Spencer-Churchill family and beyond to the deer park and estate. The 35 acre grounds are up kept by professional gardeners and are full of seasonal colour and interest and a delight to wander around - the grounds teem with wildlife and birds. The pretty cottage is in a traffic-free location (private car parking is adjacent to the cottage) and has a lovely approach across a courtyard frontage, and up a couple of steps. To the side of the cottage is a private courtyard (complete with table and chairs) which is the perfect place to leave bicycles securely. On entering the cottage off the hallway is the pretty cottage kitchen which is fully fitted with hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, toaster, kettle, cafetiere, comprehensive range of cooking utensils. To the left is a cloakroom with WC and basin and a coats cupboard.

Spacious and comfortable living accommodation: The living room/dining room is the 'wow' factor of the cottage - luxuriously and comfortably furnished, extremely spacious and with 2 sets of French doors giving access to the lovely walled cottage garden with its views of the 17th century Mansion House and Orangery.

The flame effect gas fire is perfect to curl up in front of with a good book, magazine, or board game from our selection or just turn on the flat screen TV, watch a DVD or listen to a CD. Wifi available.

Our guests say that this room is so comfortable they really feel at home here.

On the second floor are 2 large double bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a 5ft bed and en suite bathroom with shower, bedroom 2 has a 6ft bed (which can be made up as 2 singles if preferred) and an adjoining bathroom with shower. Both bedrooms have plentiful wardrobe and drawer storage, bed linen, towels, toiletries, tissues and a hair dryer. Each of the bedrooms have lovely views over the grounds and bedroom 1 has lovely views of the Mansion House.

Beautifully decorated and furnished: The cottage is beautifully furnished with quality furniture and soft furnishings and the whole ambience is of calm and tranquillity. The pretty sun trap walled cottage garden is an ideal place to eat, unwind, and enjoy this lovely, peaceful place and listen to the sound of birdsong and the estate clock tolling the hour!

Garden furniture is provided in both the front courtyard garden an ideal place to leave your bicycles and also in the cottage garden accessed through the lounge.

The estate teems with wildlife - ducks, moor hens, woodpeckers, pheasants, deer, squirrels, and a wide variety of birds can be seen on a wander through the grounds the best time to see the deer is down by the gates on the main drive at around dusk or in the walled garden at dusk.

There are 4 hard tennis courts on site. Please bring you own tennis racquets and balls. Proper tennis footwear must be worn. If you would like to use this facility please enquire with me regarding terms and conditions.

This is also a perfect base for touring the Cotswolds - something to see in every direction! Historic houses, quaint thatched village cottages, small Cotswolds towns and larger shopping towns can all be accessed from here.

Summer Cottage is the perfect away-from-it all holiday cottage for a quiet and relaxing holiday but we are centrally located for all attractions and I keep a comprehensive folder of local attractions, gardens open and recommended walks and restaurants at the cottage. For those who want a more active holiday there are fishing lakes nearby and tennis courts on site.

Many of our guests book Summer Cottage for a romantic break, anniversary celebration, birthday surprise or a 'thank-you' to friends. Summer Cottage's unique location provides the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable holiday and our guest book is full of praise for the cottage, it's location, comfort and homely atmosphere.

We are ideally located for Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Cheltenham, Stratford upon Avon, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow on the Wold, Blockley, Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadway, Burford, Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton, Snowshill, Gloucester, Warwick Castle, Hidcote Gardens, Sezincote Gardens, Mill Dene Gardens, Batsford Arboretum and Falconry Centre, Cotswolds Wildlife Park, Daylesford Organics and much, much more!

I try to provide all the comforts of home and a personal service so if you have any particular enquiries please do not hesitate to ask.

A STUNNING GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Summer Cottage for a weekend visit and felt at home as soon as we stepped through the door. The cottage is immaculate but with a friendly feel. Everything is spotlessly clean and the furnishings and decor are luxurious, the beds are comfortable, and the owner clearly loves the cottage. It is well placed for exploring the beautiful Cotswold villages and the estate surrounding the cottages is peaceful and quiet. If you choose Summer Cottage you won't be disappointed.

JUST BEAUTIFUL !

  • 5 of 5
I booked this cottage for a short break away with my Mum to do some Christmas shopping in the Cotswolds, and I couldn't have been more delighted with my choice.

This cottage is so welcoming when you walk in that you feel at home straight away, you can tell it is somewhere that is loved by the owner. Bigger than it appears on the photos, the cottage is very well laid out and it feels cosy but not cramped, with plenty of room to move about.

The cottage is situated on a small, exclusive private estate, so is lovely and quiet but is very close to all of the main "Tourist Attractions" and villages in the Cotswolds.

Lesley, the owner was very helpful in answering questions and went out of her way to make us feel welcome.

Beautifully clean, comfy beds, fluffy towels and very well equipped, this cottage is a little gem and we hope to be back before too long. And based on my visit to this property I will certainly try and book her apartment on the Isle of Wight.

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5
My first comment has to be on the cleanliness of the cottage (thanks Hillary) it was a fabulous welcome to a truly peaceful and pretty cottage tucked away in the heart of the cotswolds. Eerything you could posibly need was in the cottage and much more there was even ICE in the freezer, very well done! The walled garden is also a lovely place to have that sundowner and the secret garden where the deer visit is amazing. Everything you want to visit is local and this cottage in particular is a fabulous place to come home to each evening. For not a lot of money you get such a lot of quality pampering and a unique experience we had the most fabulous time and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this cottage for a complete get away from it all. G on indulge yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
