Stunning and unique location:
Approached over a long private drive through the estate, Summer Cottage has splendid views of the 17th century mansion house once owned by the Spencer-Churchill family and beyond to the deer park and estate. The 35 acre grounds are upkept by professional gardeners and are full of seasonal colour and interest and a delight to wander around - the grounds teem with wildlife and birds. The pretty cottage is in a traffic-free location (private car parking is adjacent to the cottage) and has a lovely approach across a courtyard frontage, and up a couple of steps. To the side of the cottage is a private courtyard (complete with table and chairs) which is the perfect place to leave bicycles securely. On entering the cottage off the hallway is the pretty cottage kitchen which is fully fitted with hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, toaster, kettle, cafetiere, comprehensive range of cooking utensils. To the left is a cloakroom with WC and basin and a coats cupboard.
Spacious and comfortable living accommodation:
The living room/dining room is the 'wow' factor of the cottage - luxuriously and comfortably furnished, extremely spacious and with 2 sets of french doors giving access to the lovely walled cottage garden with its views of the 17th century Mansion House and Orangery. The flame effect gas fire is perfect to curl up in front of with a good book, magazine, or board game from our selection or just turn on the flat screen TV, watch a DVD or listen to a CD. Our guests say that this room is so comfortable they really feel at home here.
On the second floor are 2 large double bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a 5ft bed and ensuite bathroom with shower, Bedroom 2 has a 6ft bed (which can be made up as 2 singles if preferred) and an adjoining bathroom with shower. Both bedrooms have plentiful wardrobe and drawer storage, bed linen, towels, toiletries, tissues and a hairdryer. Each of the bedrooms have lovely views over the grounds and bedroom 1 has lovely views of the Mansion House.
Beautifully decorated and furnished:
The cottage is beautifully furnished with quality furniture and soft furnishings and the whole ambience is of calm and tranquillity. The pretty suntrap walled cottage garden is an ideal place to eat, unwind, and enjoy this lovely, peaceful place and listen to the sound of birdsong and the estate clock tolling the hour!
Garden furniture is provided in both the front courtyard garden (an ideal place to leave your bicycles) and also in the cottage garden accessed through the lounge.
The estate teems with wildlife - ducks, moorhens, woodpeckers, pheasants, deer, squirrels, and a wide variety of birds can be seen on a wander through the grounds (the best time to see the deer is down by the gates on the main drive at around dusk or in the walled garden at dusk).
This is also a perfect base for touring the Cotswolds - something to see in every direction! Historic houses, quaint thatched village cottages, small Cotswolds towns and larger shopping towns can all be accessed from here
