Vibrac is an ancient village of character and is known for the beautiful river charente that runs through it, and its famous three ancient bridges. There are picnic areas and lovely walks by the river, fishing and canoeing. Canoes can be hired near to the property and it is just a short walk to launch your canoe. Wildlife to look out for include hoopoes, heron, golden orioles and kingfishers. The riverside restaurant has a great menu and is situated near the bridges and an easy 5 minute walk by a foot path. Other restaurants and cafes can be found in the nearby villages of St Simon and Bassac just 1 kilometre. Here you will also find river trips on the old barge and the beautiful Bassac Abbey.
The market town of Chateauneuf sur Charente (6km) offers a good choice of shops, including brocantes, boulangeries, tabac, pharmacies, supermarkets, a fresh fish market (try the oysters!) and restaurants. Cognac, some 20km away, is best known as the centre of cognac production.
