We think the main attraction is the walking, beach-combing, bird-watching or simply enjoying the peace and quiet. It's a pleasant 30 minute stroll along the grassed sea wall or beach to Jaywick (with its famous sands) and the same again to the typically English seaside resort of Clacton-on-Sea, or you can drive in about twenty minutes. St Osyth is a charming village with unpretentious local pubs and restaurants or you can go further afield to Beth Chatto Gardens or the ancient city of Colchester with all its sights and facilities. Nearer you have the traditional seaside resort of Clacton with its pier, shops, restaurants and amusements.
Bird-watching is excellent. We know nothing yet about our feathered friends but regularly see quail, partridges (who scamper up to the house) and pheasants as well as a beautiful barn owl who comes out during the late afternoon sometimes.
