Labarthe Cottage is situated in a very quiet and secluded position on a south facing hill side, with beautiful views over the gently rolling hills of Aquitaine in South Western France. The solar heated swimming pool is one of the largest private pools in the area (13.5m x 7 m max), and is set in a large garden. Although very secluded, Labarthe Cottage is only 1 mile from the small town of Duras with it’s imposing Chateaux, which has a full range of shops, a Chemist, Doctors, Dentists, Bars and Restaurants. Although this area is close to the popular Dordogne area, it is generally quieter and restaurant prices a little lower. Our rates are the same as in 2008 and in £. Therefore you save approximately 35% compared to paying in Euros!

Nearest Airport: Bergerac at 45 Minutes
Nearest Ferry: St Malo at 580 Kilometres
Labarthe is ideal for wine lovers, being central for the Bordeaux, St Emilion, Medoc, Bergerac and Duras wine producing areas. The quite roads of the area are great for walking and cycling. The local riding stables are very good, especially for children. Canoes can be hired on the Dordogne and Dropt rivers. The fishing is good. Tennis is available locally. We hope to have a boules court ready for the summer. The are a number of good resturants locally, and a good midday meal including wine can be had for 11.50 e.

The Cottage sleeps six in comfort, with one double and two twin bedrooms and two shower rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped including washing and dish washing machines, microwave, fridge, freezer, coffee percolator. The lounge ares has comfortable seating, satellite TV. and video [takes U.K. tapes and we have a library of over 100 tapes]. radio and CD player. Free WiFi is provided, and if you cannot bring your own computer you can have limited use of ours. We supply bed linen and towels during the high and mid. seasons. At other times these are charged as an extra, or you may bring your own. Please refer to the booking form. A cot and high chair are available, and baby sitting can be arranged. The solar heated [13.5m x 7m max.] swimming pool, is situated in a very quiet position next to the terrace. For safety it is equiped with an alarm, and there is a removable gate enclosing the terrace to keep 'Littles' away from the pool.

Sun loungers, deck chairs a sun blind, parasols and other garden furniture are provided, together with a gas barbecue. The property covers 3 acres, so there is plenty of room for everyone! The pool is for the exclusive use of guests for most of the year, but during the summer we do have our family visiting for a short while. At these times the pool is shared with them. However, they use it when convenient and do not stay in the pool area when they have finished swimming, so it is not the same as another gite sharing! We can tell you if this will be the case before you book.
