Photos and Description of the Rohan vacation cottage rental Adults only gite in tranquil surroundings - sleeps 4

Brackens Cottage is part of a carefully renovated stone barn with traditional beams which has been comfortably furnished for four adult guests and is fully equipped for year round occupancy. On site parking and secure storage for cycles etc is available. The barn is situated in a south-west facing garden with ample furniture, a barbecue and table-tennis table. The grounds have been landscaped and are maintained by the English owner, who lives next door and is very happy to discuss planting schemes with interested guests. There are also many unusual and lovely gardens open to visitors in Brittany. Located just 5 minutes drive from the small Breton towns of Rohan and La Cheze, Brackens rests in tranquil countryside whilst being close to local shops, restaurants and lakes. Exploring the beautifully dramatic North coast, the sandy inlets of the South coast or the wonderful architecture and traditional markets of medieval inland Brittany is easy from this location.

Further details for this vacation cottage rental in Rohan, France

The Brackens is an adults only gite, suitable for couples or groups of friends. It has an open plan ground floor which includes a lounge with settee, two recliners, coffee table, wide screen TV with UK free-to-air channels and a stock of books and games to relax with. There is a spacious dining area overlooking the gardens and a galley style kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave, washing machine, kettle, toaster and plenty of crockery for year round holidays. The shower room has a double size cubicle, basin, wc, towel radiator and storage cupboard. Upstairs are two good sized bedrooms, one is furnished as a double with a beautiful French bed, the other is twin room; both have electric heating, plenty of storage, ample space to relax in and views over the pretty front garden and beyond to wooded countryside. Outside as well as the beautifully tended communal grounds there is a private garden for cottage guests with garden furniture, a barbecue and outdoor table tennis.

It is normal practice in Brittany for the world to stop for two hours at lunch to allow time to savour the food - there are a range of excellently priced auberges offering several courses plus drinks from midday, perhaps sample one after a busy morning at a local market and follow up with an afternoon exploring then return to Brackens in the evening for an aperitif before a barbecue under the clear evening skies.

All guests booking a stay at The Brackens benefit from a 20% discount on Brittany Ferries crossings.

Relax and Enjoy!

Jo & Bryan Plymouth
Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We had a lovely relaxing time at The Brackens, so much so that we lost track of the days. The cottage, a lovely converted barn, was comfortable and provided everything we needed. The gardens were beautiful and quiet with only birdsong for company. Lynne was so helpful and kind and really made our stay special.
The area itself has many attractions ranging from castles, lakes and of course good french food. Rohan, which is just down the road has a lovely park and lake for gentle walks. The coast is reached easily in about 40 minutes. The roads are a dream. Very little traffic which makes driving, by car or on bikes a real pleasure.
Definitely a holiday for those who want to get away from it all.

Honeymoon at The Brackens

Alastair & Adele Brighton
Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We enjoyed a very good honeymoon at The Brackens. Even though the weather was not always sunny the comfortable accommodation and friendly welcome ensured a most relaxing and peaceful time. When the sun did shine the garden just outside our door was a great place to sit and enjoy breakfast and later in the day a sun-downer, all chorused with bird song. And it was great to meet Lynn who was very helpful with local knowledge.

The villages a short drive from the gite offer one of our favourite pastimes in France; good food enjoyed in an unhurried atmosphere. A little further a field there is plenty of choice for a day out whatever the weather, between small villages, bigger towns; inland or beside the sea.

We wanted to relax, slow down and breath our own air and The Brackens hit the right spot in all our wants.

We had a really great holiday

Fred & Chris Australia
Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The Brackens is set in very attractive gardens and in a very peaceful area. It was very comfortable and contained everything we needed during our holiday, including a much appreciated welcome pack of wine, bread, butter etc.
We very much enjoyed meeting Lynne, who was welcoming and attentive, without being in the least intrusive. We had many chats about various facilities in the area and many more where we 'put the world to rights'.
The area itself affords easy access to the Nantes/Brest canal for good and easy walking and cycling and the various Tourist Information Offices provide free leaflets containing maps for well marked trails and routes which are peaceful and virtually traffic free. (By using these routes we actually felt on occasions that we had stumbled onto a set of 'Allo Allo' - although it's probably a bit rude to say that).
There are also two huge lakes (Guerledan and Etang au Duc) which are both within 30min driving time and which provide good swimming and boating etc.
