An Individual cottage situated in a 1/3rd acre plot in the grounds of a 19th century Gentleman’s estate, between beaches & mountains on the west coast of North Wales in the Snowdonia National Park. A truly Welsh welcome awaits you at Caerffynnon Hall Estate, where the mountains of Snowdonia slope down to the sea. The setting is breathtaking, with panoramic views of Portmerion and the Dwyryd Estuary. The tiny Cambrian coastal village of Talsarnau offers a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, and visitors come back year after year to the beautifully appointed cottage. The 26 acre grounds include a woodland walk to the 11th century fort with stunning views of Tramdog bay and Portmeirion. Situated in the Snowdonia National Park, the cottage is minutes from miles of unspoilt ‘blue flag’ beaches of the Cambrian coastline. The historic Welsh town of Harlech, with its magnificent castle, is just along the coast, as is the Victorian seaside resort of Barmouth.

Over 75 leaflets of places to visit are in the cottage. Many famous North Wales tourist attractions: castles, mills, potteries, mines (slate, gold and copper) and narrow guage railways are all within easy reach. Talsarnau is central for an excellent variety of activities: golf, pony trekking, walking and fishing. Snowdonia is less than an hour away. The cottage is ideal for adventure weekends with quadding, white water rafting, kayaking, mountain walking and climbing, ten pin bowling, go karting just some of the activities that are available just a short drive away. The Ffestiniog Railway Narrow guage steam railway, Porthmadog has undergone a major extension linking it to LLanberis at the foot of Snowdon and connecting to the Snowdonia Mountain Railway. Snowdonia Mountain Railway At the summit a fantatic new terminus opens in the spring of 2009 Harlech Castle 13th century historic castle and grounds is truly stunning and well worth a visit.

  • The cottage is available from 4pm on Saturdays and must be vacated by 10 am on the following Saturday.

    Linen, bath and face towels are provided.

    The property is comprehensively stocked and we're confident you will find everything you need at this cottage.

    Many of our guests have complimented us on the essentials such as bath and face towels [please bring your own beach towels as sand breaks the washing machine!]. Our kitchen is comprehsively stocked with all the utensils, cookware, crockery and glassware you could possibly need.

    We're childfriendly having 3 of our own and there are plastic cups, straws, drink jogs for squash etc. We think we've covered all you will need even down to the buckets and spades so you only have ot arrive with you and your things.

  • We have a toilet, large sink, bath and over head electric shower with a glass screen, so the option of a bath or a shower is always available. We have also in 2009 replaced the carpet with a new hard wood floor to ensure a more hygienic floor covering; we have also installed new lighting including a makeup light above the mirror and a heated towel rail. A large bathroom cabinet and shelf space above the sink gives all the storage a typical family require on a week’s holiday, if you need more please use the air cupboard next door for additional cupboard space.

  • Cottages sleeps 6 plus we also have a fold away cot and a Z bed for an additional guest should you so wish to , you will have to provide your own linen for the Z bed. The double bedroom and front twin room both have views of the estuary, the rear yellow / children’s room has views over the garden extending to the 11th Century Hill Fort at the summit of the woods. Double bedroom has French windows opening out on to the private decking area, which is lovely on a warm evening or dare we say it to enjoy been outside if the rain decides to visit, we love sitting out here in the winter wrapped up with a pot of tea, cakes and watching the sun set its such a lovely tranquil setting, you cannot fail to relax.

Notes: We have steps down to the property which are in small sets over a large area this therefore makes the access impossible for a wheelchair however, we have a handrail and my grandfather who was disabled successfully navigated the steps as have many of our guests without too much effort, if you’d like a photograph of the steps please email me and I'll gladly send one over to you to access for yourself. Great care has been taken to ensure that the kitchen is perfect for self-catering. Whether you are preparing a simple breakfast or even the most elaborate meal, you’ll find everything you might need. Living room; a roaring log burner (for use on cooler nights) and carefully co-ordinated furnishings create a homely atmosphere. Equipped with television, video/DVD and music system. Dining area with table and four chairs situated through archway, back door leading to rear garden/patio. Beds are made up on arrival with fresh linen, a bath towel and a face towel. The same luxury feel is maintained in the bedrooms, with the added benefit of ample storage space. There are continental quilts with extra blankets, if needed. The cottage will comfortably sleep four adults and three children. Master bedroom – double bed, views of Portmerion, bedroom 2 – twin single beds, views of Portmerion, bedroom 3 – two single beds, views of rear garden and woods to 11th century fort.

Attractive bathroom/wc with electric shower over the bath and wash basin. Enclosed front and rear gardens. Rear garden/patio (furniture and BBQ) enjoys fantastic country views over Dwyryd estuary and Portmerion. As our guests you are free to walk around and enjoy the 26 acre country estate the cottage is situated within. A path through the woods leads to an 11th century fort with stunning views of the estuary and the harbour of Portmadog. Other information Welsh Tourist Board 4 star grading. Economy 7 storage heaters, 1 pet allowed by request, parking for 2 cars. If you wish to rent the cottage for a fortnight we offer a linen change and a full 3 hour clean for £35 (by separate prior payment). Heated towel rail, a £40 heating charge is applied from October - March due to the recent huge hike by the electricity companies. A washing line with pegs is provided.
