This is a non-smoking pet-free upside down cottage (with the 2 decent sized bedrooms on the ground floor)There are 2 shower rooms, one is en-suite to the main bedroom, which also benefits from a 2nd tv. The living room (with colour TV, DVD Video and Music System) is upstairs and there is a separate dining room and kitchen The tastefully co-ordinated furniture and furnishings are of a high standard. Although the floor area is above average, the ceilings are low (excellent for warmth in winter) giving the cottage a cosy feel, and one full of character, aided by the sympathetic log effect stove. Naturally in the extremely well equipped kitchen there are hardwood kitchen units, gloss worktops and a stone sink. There is a full size fridge/freezer - with seperate compartments of equal size - and dishwasher. Has an electric halogen cooker.
In the cottage there are 8 detailed information folders, partially written personally by the owners, and organised such that the leaflets on the commercial attractions are set out in order of proximity to the cottages. These folders are generally regarded as amongst the best in the business. One of these folders contain details of 20 circular walks from this NON-working farm, or linear walks involving catching the really scenic punctual and raved about bus service and after exiting the bus, walking back to the cottage.
Standards of housekeeping are literally second to none, something regularly commented on by our guests. Cycle hire is available from the owners at one half of the cost charged by commerical operators and breakfast packs are available at cost. There is a shared laundry room and high quality ready-cooked meals can be purchased at a modest cost.
There is a bridleway, some 80 yards away leading over a well-surfaced path to Hartington, one of the honey-pot villages of the Peak District, one mile away. Hartington has 4 tea rooms, gift shops, two inns, a famous duck pond and an even more famous cheese shop & much more
