Not one for normally bothering to write a review, I felt compelled to do so having just returned from an idyllic weekend at Church House with family, friends and our young labrador.

The house is beautiful and comfortably furnished; very clean; with a peaceful ambience. There is plenty of space and the garden secluded. We were all extremely impressed and my thireen year-old daughter said that it was very homely and welcoming.

A stay at Church House is highly recommended. Although there are plenty of places to explore in the surrounding area, we were content to enjoy the House and walk along the beach. We will definately be coming back!

Georgian glamour and coastal charm!

James1980 London
Review Submitted: November 14, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
We were lucky enough to stay at Church House for a weekend in late September. The Kent coast’s agreeable climate held firm and we enjoyed fantastic sunshine –evidenced by al fresco dining in Church House’s delightful garden.

We chose Church House because it is easily reachable from London for a weekend break with friends and we were certainly glad we did! Key pick-up arrangements were easy to follow and went like clockwork.

The property combines beautiful décor and period features (check out the wood-panelled walls!) with high quality furnishings and comprehensive equipment –indeed the range of cooking utensils and accoutrements made us feel slightly guilty that we did not cook more often during our stay.

The property was immaculate and little touches such as fresh flowers and complimentary toiletries meant the overall ambience is best described as ‘luxury-boutique’.

Walmer and Deal were both easily reachable on foot and we were able to conduct detailed research into the range of Kentish ales available at local hostelries (!) as well as a delicious meal at Bistro Oregano.

I would thoroughly recommend Church House for a short break for groups of friends. It has a wonderful atmosphere and is superbly appointed. Our only disappointment was that it is booked out for New Years Eve. We hope to return soon!

Weekend stay 30th October-2nd November

differentiation Milton Keynes
Review Submitted: November 11, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
We arrived on Friday evening, Church House was clean, warm and welcoming with a useful hamper for that first drink whether you wanted tea and biscuits or a glass of wine and nibbles.
On Saturday, we explored Deal by walking along the seafront and enjoyed browsing the many individual shops. We walked past 2 castles on the way. We had lunch at the end of the pier.
Back at the house that evening we lit the fire, cooked a feast that we enjoyed around a dining table that could seat all ten of us.
Sunday was lazy, a gentle stroll to Kingsdown for some and golf for others, lunch in a pub and back for a snooze.
The house accomdated us easily, the two sitting rooms allowed for quiet or TV. The kitchen was well equipped to cater for large parties. All in all a super weekend away.

Better than a posh hotel

DMF41 London
Review Submitted: October 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The house was lovely, with all of the feel of a posh hotel but with all of the comforts of home. It was incredibly clean and well-equipped (especially the kitchen!). The listing description was very accurate and we were very pleased with the amenities and equipment provided. Church House was a fantastic place to stay, and I'm looking forward to having an opportunity to spend time there again in the future.

The owner provided exceptional customer service and was incrediby friendly and helpful - especially ensuring keys were delivered on-time during the postal strikes. She also provided a very good amount of information about the house and local area so that it was easy to settle in and start our holiday. The welcome basket that was left for us was also incredibly generous, and really set the tone for our stay.

The area itself is wonderful if you want to spend time outdoors - the walking and cycling paths are extensive and link the towns together. We did use the bikes provided at the house, and it was nice to leave our car behind for a change. We had a great time finding provisions for dinner at the various local farm stands. We also had a luscious snack at Sara's Chocolates in Deal, a must-do if you have a sweet-tooth (and even if you don't!).

I would highly recommend this property to others - especially people in groups or large families. The rooms and bathrooms are generously proportioned, the kitchen well-stocked with crockery/cutlery, and the garden/outdoor space capable of accomodating a big crowd (we were sorry it wasn't warm enough to eat outside, although being able to use the fireplace more than made up for that!).
