With some sea and hill views, our comfortable, family holiday home has many original features and is conveniently situated just a few minutes walk down to the sandy beach, shops, restaurants and pubs. You can take a boat trip along the Jurassic coast, walk in Durlston Country Park, board the steam train to Corfe Castle, stroll along the restored Victorian pier or just build sandcastles!

Pen-y-fan has accommodation over three floors. The entrance hall has the original tiled floor and a cloakroom. The living/dining room has a TV with Freeview, DVD/VCR player with lots of videos and games to keep the family entertained!

The door to the courtyard, with BBQ, is off the dining room. The newly fitted and well equipped kitchen has an original floor and an overhead wooden drying rack.

The modern bathroom is on the half landing on the stairs to the first floor where there is a large double bedroom and a bedroom with bunks which also has a shower. On the top floor there is a twin bedded room and a single. All beds have duvets and pillows and blankets are available should you need them. Bed linen and towels available at extra charge. We have some sea views from the front and some hill views from the back - the best from the top floor!

We are in the centre of town and have unrestricted parking along our one-way street.

We have a small corner shop nearby which is open early till late and a good variety of shops in the town. The pubs and restaurants provide everything from fish and chips to fine dining - The Red Lion, Tawnys Wine Bar and The Corner are our favourites!

It was one of my best holidays in my life. We've seen some nice things. My favourite was Durdle Door and Kimmeridge. And of course the nice old pubs. Poppy age 13

It is a good house. I love the shop called Johns and the steam trains and the station and the pub round the corner with the pool table called the Pubeck Hotel. You should go there. James age 11

This house was a great base for a holiday for 3 generations of us. It is a true family house, well stocked with all you could need (feeling more like a house swap, rather than holiday accommodation) and just a few minutes from the town and beach, which is exactly what we were looking for. The best fish and chips we've ever had (we checked several times!) are just down the road, with other cafés, shops and supermarkets an easy walk away. The proximity to the beach was perfect with small children as we could wander down for a bit then come home and go out again later, rather than have to pack up and drive to the beach. Communication with the owner was great. I would highly recommend this house for a relaxed family stay and an easy holiday, we hope to return!

Great location

Found this property to be very accurately described by the owner. The location was terrific - 3 or 4 minutes to the beautiful pedestrianised beach and some excellent take aways only 2 minutes off. A quiet street as it is not a through road and parking no problem. For my friend and I with 5 young children between us it couldn't have been better and we were not squashed in at all.

Would highly recommend this property.

The delights of Swanage are many! We are at the end of the Purbeck Peninsula and at the start of the Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site.

It is a traditional seaside town with safe swimming from the blue flag beach and there is a Punch and Judy show during the summer. There is a good children's playground and rides opposite the beach. The Carnival Week at the end of July and the RNLI Week in August are very popular with locals and visitors alike - always lots going on!

The Beach Gardens have tennis, bowls and putting and there is a larger pitch and putt in the town. There are four indoor swimming pools in the area.

We have music festivals to suit most tastes - blues, jazz, folk - and there are regular concerts in St Mary's Church as well as a varied programme at the Mowlem Theatre.

Notes Changeovers take place on Saturday for weekly rentals, with access from 3 pm on arrival day to 10 am departure day.
Short breaks are available outside school holidays by arrangement - three night breaks from £315.
Gas and electricity are included. Bed linen and towels can be supplied for £15 per person.
A deposit of approximately one third of the rental prices is paid by cheque with the booking form and the balance plus a separate cheque for £100 breakage deposit is paid six weeks before arrival.
