St Ives Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Wifi, Private outside terrace, prime seaside location, 2 bedrooms

Beach View is a modern contemporary holiday property which has undergone a complete refurbishment and occupies a superb elevated front line position on the site of the old Gwel Marten Hotel on Headland Road in Carbis Bay and just a short walk to one of the best beaches in England. The apartment boasts a fantastic private sea terrace which very few properties have and overlooks the immaculate gardens of Gwel Marten, providing glorious uninterrupted sea and beach views. There is also free Wifi internet access.

There is a large private covered parking space which is just a few seconds walk away and just a little further is the delightful Carbis Bay train station. It is just a short train ride into the centre of St Ives along the single track and the journey takes just a few minutes and follows a wonderfully scenic path along the coast. The train very popular with visitors and a great way of beating all the busy holiday traffic in St Ives.

Beach View is also located right on the doorstep of the South West Coastal Path so it is an ideal base to start your walk and is also just a few minutes walk down the hill to the golden soft sands of Carbis Bay with its calm turquoise water.

Internally the apartment is very spacious (1200 sq ft) and in the main is fully open plan with a white gloss modern kitchen with breakfast bar, formal dining area with a large table and six chairs and a luxurious lounge area with two very large three seater sofas where guests can relax and enjoy breathtaking sea views. The modern family bathroom is again very spacious and has a separate shower enclosure, twin sinks and a deep luxurious bath with additional shower. There are two large bedrooms to the rear with the master bedroom having a king size bed and the second bedroom has two single beds with an additional single bed designed with flexibility in mind. Both bedrooms have TVs.

There is also has a very useful rear terrace with seating and which is ideal for a morning coffee and a read of the papers when more shelter is required and its also provides guests with a great outdoor storage area for bikes and surfboards.

In terms of local facilities, the nearest supermarket is a Tesco which is less than 5 minutes drive away off the main A3074 road into St Ives and where there is a great Costa Coffee which also has free wifi. There are also banks, hairdressers, a chemist, newsagents and general stores all a short walk away in the centre of Carbis Bay. During the day when on the beach there is a cafe and food outlet.

Please feel free to contact us for further information, additional pictures of the apartment and useful websites. The apartment is available all year round and a great escape location during the off-peak winter season when walking the South West Coastal path is particularly popular activity. During this time the apartment is available for shorter breaks including weekend and mid-week stays. The St Ives music & arts festival during September is popular as is the New Year festivities.

Home from home in great location

  • 4 of 5
The apartment has everything you need to feel at home. Really good wireless connection, nice touches like books, DVDs and games. Great access to the beach, within a few minutes - up and down a big hill so challenging for those with mobility issues but if you are fit, no problem. Facilities on the beach are also great with a little cafe, shop and toilets etc. There is a big Tesco supermarket within a short drive, train station to St Ives within a couple of minutes walk. Limited bar/restaurant options in the immediate area however within a few minutes train drive in St Ives we really enjoyed our meal at the Porthminster cafe (delightful seafood), The Hub (hearty bbq fare) and the Ocean Grill (mediteranean, absolutely gorgeous homemade bread!). If we had to look for any improvement points: Terrace gets sun only in early evening, BBQ's are not allowed on the complex and car parking space was very tight - we have a VW golf which just about fit. All in all we had a great week and really enjoyed the view each morning as we looked out of our living room window!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Beach View.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to clarify the car parking bay measurements for potential new guests as in many years of running Beach View not one guest has ever failed to fit their vehicle in the space provided whether this was a large 4x4 or transit van. The width between the entrance pillars is 278cm (although the bay has no fixed walls inside and is open so you have a much wider space available to open your doors without fear of not being able to get out), the length is 680cm and the height of the covered roof is 208cm. The bay is in fact one of the largest in the complex and there is a huge space in front so guests can easily manoeuvre their vehicle into place.

Regarding the sea terrace this gets the full sun in the morning as well and the large gardens immediately in front receive the sun throughout most of the day and evening.

I hope this additional information will be very useful for new guests and we will look forward to welcoming you again soon at Beach View.

The perfect family apartment!

  • 5 of 5
Finding this gem of an apartment really made our long weekend down in Cornwall... as the parents of a 5 year old, being able to walk the coastal paths/beach at sun down, just by stepping out of the back door, burnt off the last of her energy and because of the spectacular view from the lounge, we didn't feel penalised as parents having to stay in! It was wonderful to watch Carbis Bay and St Ives beyond slowly light up at night...

The apartment has everything you need and simply cannot be beaten on location. A short walk from the terrace at the back, down the coastal path and you are on the beach... and a short walk in another direction and you're at the station and 3 mins away from St Ives (just make sure you have cash for the ticket machine... and coins not notes!!! There's no credit card option here either!) You could quite easily leave your exploring at that, the beach at Carbis Bay far exceeded what we expected (a huge sandy beach, and we even found a cave tunnel to explore) and St Ives made all the better to visit by not having the hassle and cost of parking... but we managed to squeeze in Sennen Cove (amazing surf beach, even if we only watched others do it!) and St Michael's Mount (you can never get tired of waiting and walking the sea road across!) and the Eden Project on the only rainy day we had... but wished we hadn't wasted our time driving to Lands End, which has seriously gone downhill since we were last there, we were there 20 mins before we left and went to Sennen instead!

Not an apartment for any one that would have trouble with very steep steps down to the apartment, steep coastal/road walk to the beach, but for anyone else, I can't sing its praises high enough. A modern, clean, well appointed apartment, plenty of space, a view to die for and a brilliant location... a fantastic family break... we hope to be back again soon and for longer!!

Great family location

  • 5 of 5
We had a thoroughly delightful time at Carbis Bay and the apartment was great! The accomodation was clean, tidy, modern and fresh and family friendly with all our basics needs met. The veiw was truly outstanding. The train branch line is a few minutes stroll, with endless possibilties for a carless holiday. We had 3 children with us (20 mth, 10,11) and the location was ideal. One thing to bear in mind is the allocated garage space for the apartment wont take 4x4 and will require you to remove your roof box (if you have one), - but don't let this put you off the accommodation. Caribs Bay is a pleasant 40 minute stroll from St Ives - Do visit the Tate and have afternoon tea in their cafe, the view is great! A visit to St Michael's Mount is worth the trip.
