This was our first stop on a five week journey through France and just waht we needed. After a flight that seemed endless and the crush of people that airports now involve, this little island of quiet was perfect. What we liked best was the size. We were a couple traveling with a mother and space is essential when jet lagged. The kitchen was well equipped, the furniture comfortable, everything was extremely clean and the back garden was just what we wanted at the end of the day. I walked the dog every night and morning through a deserted villlage and then into the car for great trips to nearby larger towns. Stuart was most easy to deal with via email and responded promptly to all enquiries. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet place in a lovely part of France. The only reason for a missing star is that the internet did not work, but I think that was probably a temporary problem and would not have been an issure had we been further into our trip.
My partner and I stayed for a week over the Christmas period. We found the cottage without any problems and were delighted with the property when we got inside. As other reviewers have stated, the photographs of the property really do not do justice to the size of the place.
Everything that we could have possibly needed was in the house and having the freeview and internet access made out stay even more comfortable.
It was no problem to get to the local shops, Hesdin is only about 10-15 mins drive and there are 4 supermarkets available.
The owner Stuart was extremely helpful throughout the booking process and our stay and we enjoyed the experience so much that we have decided to return at Easter.
If you are looking for a cottage with all the convenience of having your own home comforts around you I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Apart from being a beautifully furnished cottage with loads of character, it's located in a great position just over 70 minutes from Calais on the A16 and very close to beaches and the 1st WW sites and museums.
We called at chez natalies for a drink one afternoon and found the owners really friendly. But the cottage really made our stay special, it was a lovely relaxing and tranquil place to return to after a day out.
The owner Stuart predicted to me on the phone before we arrived that we'd love it so much we'd want to return, and he wasn't wrong! Plenty of space, all mod cons in a characterful single-storey house (ideal for anyone, including anyone with mobility restrictions), in a sleepy hamlet just yards from the border of the beautiful Somme region (in fact, the 7 Valleys region it sits in is very beautiful too). And although it's a quiet place, the brasserie/restaurant Chez Natalie is just round the corner and serves good food, while the nearest supermarket and charcuterie is 10 minutes walk in the next village, but get there as early as you can if you want croissants... The nearest town Hesdin is about 10 miles away, and is a lovely place. The market on Thursday should not be missed. We went on trips to the upmarket beach resort of Le Touquet and the less posh but still stunning Berck beach, awe-inspiring Amiens, and also to look at gardens and the gorgeous countryside within a few miles of Labroye. We were also blessed with sunny days almost every day. Cannot be faulted, all in all. Thanks a lot Stuart and family for making this place available! It's very welcoming, a real home from home.
An excellent stay. Our first Christmas in France which we'd have dreamed of for years and the venue certainly helped the holiday live up to all our expectations. The house is surprisingly larger than you anticipate from the photos and was very warm and hospitable. The owner is extremely helpful and a genuine chap who appears to get as much enjoyment from seeing you have a good time as having one himself. The place was nicely decorated and well aired before we got there and all we had to do was bring our own festive spirit to add to that already there. Shame we didn't get to the restaurant which looks very interesting but the area is great for exploration with many different types of activities within an easy reach. We are very familiar with Northern France but this was our first time around Hesdin which is excellently served for shops and restaurants.
I heartily recommend the house, area and owner to any prospective visitors. Thank you for helping us to enjoy our first French Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Stuart.
Myself and my family have had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful cottage on a number of occasions and every time we have loved every minute of it.
You can't help but feel at home when sitting by the roaring log fire in the winter or chilling in the garden in the summer. Our 2 year old loved running around the garden and playing with the children's toys, in fact she loved it just as much when she was six months!
Our 8 year old enjoyed it too and the trip down to Disneyland made her year.
I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a fabulous trip to France
The Seven Valleys area is a mixture of gently rolling hills and open countryside and is ideal for walking, cycling and relaxing. The seven rivers that give area its name are ideal for fishing . We are within easy reach of the many golf courses in the Pas de Calais region. There are many rivers like the Canche, Authie or the River Somme where you can get permits to fish. The Beaches of Berck, Le Touquet and Fort Mahon are an easy drive along the River Authie. Ten Pin Bowling and Swimming in Hesdin in a Brand new Complex.
About the area - Le Pays des 7 Vallees is a tourist area within this region having the old market town of Hesdin at its heart. Situated at the confluence of the rivers Canche and Ternoise Hesdin has an impressive central 'Grande Place' dominated by the 16th century town hall. Market day is Thursday, but the boutiques, restaurants and bars, its historic church and buildings, and its status as a 3 star 'ville fleuri' (flowered town) make it a town pleasant to visit on any day. North of Hesdin is the 'Foret d'Hesdin' extending to over 1000 hectares. The cottage is also near many Historic Battlefields.
